The Story of Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune's Only Official Kiss

- Haruka and Michiru are probably one of the most iconic couples in media in general. Despite this they have never kissed in the manga nor either of the Sailor Moon anime. However, there was one in an obscure piece of media from an often overlooked branch of the Sailor Moon franchise. This is the story of the only time anime's most iconic couple kissed, and the the actresses that made it happen.

Their chemistry was so powerful they didn't need to be seen kissing to validate their relationship.
We just knew there was more going on between those two even with all the sensorship.
The lingering gazes. Being inseparable and could hold an entire conversation without uttering a single word out loud.
I feel like, while the constraints imposed on how explicit their relationship could be were homophobic, it had the weirdly lovely side effect of showing a more nuanced and mature kind of romance. My favorite scene with these two is when they entered a lover's competition together and were clearly going to win, but let the younger kids win in the end.
Watching them is almost like watching an older married couple- as a kid in school they might not ever let you see them kiss, or talk to you about their relationship, but their closeness is just obvious and unquestionable.

kudos to you for watching the sea of serenity subs, they have done a phenomenal job with them, and while the live-evil subs from the past were amazing and without they we wouldn't know about the musicals back in the day, they didn't sub every performance, so sea of serenity did great with providing quality-correct translations for the musicals 💚💙
I wish the morning after scene Harumichi had in the manga(and later crystal) had shown the obvious kiss, instead just its aftermath, or at least they would kiss in the musicals, as in scripted kiss.
I'm forever grateful to Nao and Yuuka for kissing at the parade, even though they weren't my top favs who played HaruMichi (yep lol my favs from the old ones were Sanae and hiroko (the two from the last Anza musicals) and of course shuuchan and himeka (sayaka) from the new myus
I think Nao had an incredible charisma, and elevated Yuuka as well. to be honest I prefer Yuuha as Jadeite later on eheheh.
Nao along with ono hikari had been some of the most prominent fan favoured actresses in myu and rightfully so.
another thing that Myu did that the animes were too afraid to do were to give us 3 harumichi songs which are about their love
only eternal eternity comes close to them.
oh there is also a hint of a kiss between them (sound of a kiss) in the CD dramas from the 90s

それは間違った設定です。原作の設定では彼女たちは恋人同士です。
I always had conflicting opinions about this.
On one hand, I wanted to see them kiss because society as a whole seems so against it that I wanted to see it symbolized undeniably for once, seeing as they ARE the most famous queer couple in all of anime
But on the other hand, I always felt that it was also kind of sweet that they never HAD to, on screen. That it presents the idea that they kiss all the time in private probably, and that they don't NEED to do it just for our benefit or in front of the metaphorical "camera" and the idea that a kiss isn't what defines them as lesbians, their love and affection does that. That's how I always wanted to read it, at least. Even though that's what my HEART says, my HEAD tells me it's probably just becuase Sailor Moon is a mainstream series and they're being too cowardly to full on confront controversy by doing it. But I want to go with my heart's read of it, becuase my head's pragmatic view depresses me too much.
