Ok i'll give you that that if Super dodgeball was redone in HD it might be terrible, but if it was done right it would be worth downloading.
It was remade, on the NeoGeo. It's called Super DodgeBall as well.
Dr.Beef Well, the NES version of SDB was definitely a port of the original arcade title. The Neo version of SDB I guess could be a sequel, not real sure but it was technically a remake, since it was an 'updated' version of the same game, albeit with more "story" elements.

because honestly NES is the best gaming system period and has the most titles of any other system I believe, other than NES I really loved SEGA GENESIS 16 bit

Actually the you listed games DO take place in the same universe and ARE THE SAME CHARACTERS. Actually in Japan it's a part of the series revolving around Kunio. A High school Badass. There's more but i don't know the WHOLE story. You should check it out on Wikipedia or something
Also one of my favorite NES games. It wasn't without it's downsides though. Even on the hard setting, the game is ridiculously easy, it suffers one of the worst flicker rates of any NES game I've ever played, and the game is pretty limited in scope. An updated AI and perhaps a tournament randomization would have gone a long way for this one.
Still, if you've got half an hour or an hour to kill, it doesn't get much better than this. The characters are funny (especially when being knocked "around the world"), the super moves are extremely gratifying, and somehow the music never seems to get old.
My only quip with this game is the amount of sprite flickering. Of course, It could just be my copy. Other than that, great game!
PlaystationPunk as a kid I actually had my parents return my first copy thinking the game was broken. Turns out there’s just tons of nes flicker on this one
reminded me of the dodgeball tournament in Hunter x Hunter, (Anime fans will know)

in japan they are all part of the Kunio series. World Cup Soccer is a dumb downed version of Kunio Kun Nekketsu Soccer League. Wish Technos just did straight translation of these games instead of messing around with them. World Cup Soccer is no where near as good as Nekketsu Soccer League.
Actually Nekketsu Soccer League was the sequel, Nintendo World Cup is the american/european version of Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball-bu Soccer-hen. And I prefer that game anyway, mostly because Nekketsu Soccer League has a lot of slowdown.

Beat this game on difficult tonight again for the first time in decades and it was amazing still. This game is just indescribable and i love it to this day :)

Ah, yes... Super Dodge Ball. I used to play this all the time back in the day. Checking prices at Amazon tells me you could buy a used copy for between ten dollars-- or, if you're feeling out-of-your-damn-mind insane-- there's a copy going for nearly TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!... but, the specs listed (includes game cartridge; basic signs of wear and aging; no blooklet) for the nearly ten thousand dollar copy are no better than the ten dollar copies, so pick your poison; but, I don't see that copy being sold... like, ever.

Is it crazy, having first been an atari gamer, that when the NES Advantage joystick came out I bought one and would even take it to friends houses, same with the Genesis and the fighting controller stick I had, never have liked D-pads, I will use them but a joystick just always feels right! Especially now, how most systems have analog thumb joysticks, ever since n64, they are just proper, you know what I mean? :)

Pat, Kunio appears in every game, but for translation reasons (obviously) the name gets confused....the kunio kun series uses the character in every game....
When i was a kid, i love the kunio kun series, even when it was ALL IN JAPANESE (in argentina, the most common system was the famicom, and almost every game was in japanese). Especially kunio kun nekketsu soccer league (GOAL 3)
Hey Pat, do you know the name of an arcade game from the early 90s late 80s that had similar animation to Super Dodge Ball here. It was a circle of fighters and you played as a guy who took on the entire circle and the last guy wore a white gi and when it was game over for your guy there was a spotlight on your character and the last guy. I recall a voice that said "are you ready" right before the fight started. I can't remember the name of this game and it's been bugging the hell out of me.
This is one of the few arcade-to-console ports which was better than the arcade version. I loved the arcade version, and played the hell out of it in 1988. I never played the NES version until the mid 1990s, but it is actually even more fun than the arcade version. Too bad about all of the sprite flickering in the NES version though. The arcade version definitely has it beat in the graphics and sound department. What would be awesome is if someone could hack the arcade ROM to have the same gameplay as the NES version.
Super Dodge Ball is one of my fave NES titles as well. This review was great. The only downside you could say about this game (and it's minor at that) would be the flashing characters or slow down during gameplay when too many guys are moving around. Thanks again for another great review and look forward to more!
If you don't like California it could be because this area is ghetto minority dominated (It's a dull low quality place) so you might prefer New York depending on where you go. In California depending on where you move to you might like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or San Diego.

I know this has probably been established before, but I'm new to your channel and I was just wondering, do you really not like Genesis that much? Or is it part of your charecter (kinda like AVGN) but less forced (not that AVGN is forced too much either)
Hey Pat do you have the NES game with over 200 games in 1 ? Loved some of those games on that cartridge, the ones that i most remember is Tank wars, and some ninja game which actually is decent. ! Fun to see ppl that where like me when i was young !

In Japan the captain of the dodgeball team is Kunio (Alex) from River City Ransom. I think all those sports games are supposed to feature Kunio...a lot of them have his name in the Japanese title.

actually all of the games that pat mentioned were part of the kunio-kun series in japan which started with renegade, they were all one big series with a full narrative tying them all together. also technos developed double dragon.

Try Battle Dodge Ball for SNES. It's the same kind of game but improoved and with giant japanese robots as playlable characters, like Mazinger, Gundam and Ultraman too
Ummm... There WAS a team select, I don't know why you say there isn't, I played with team Russia on my playthough. You just have to poke around a bit for the option.

Guess what Pat I bought this yesterday! Pretty awesome game glad I finally came across it. Was a blast 2 player.
People were fighting over turns at this one. I guess later on they made a Gundam dodgeball game on SNES not released in the us.
