+BobvanKay my local store is set out like this all the disks are behind the desk andd cartriges are in glass casess so if you rob the boxes you wont get the games.
They actually reference this observation quite a few times in the cpu podcast, this is the first time I’ve seen a video containing the old store. (Unless I’m wrong about this being the old store but it doesn’t look like the later layout and set up of the stores in the newer videos)
@@dann6065 this store was the voltaire store in OB. They moved out of it in 2012 or so. Then they moved to I believe Newport street. Stayed there for 4 or so years before leaving OB completely for Chula Vista.
@rerunturbografx It pretty much was. The location was wedged in between actual stores and houses. Very weird location. The later stores are much more store-like.
I actually talked to the Luna Games employee while I was looking for Earthbound cheaply. He's really nice in general and I can't believe he didn't sound a bit annoyed about me fanboying on him XD
Every time Ian twitched when Pat said "WOW!" I laughed so hard. I can re-watch those scenes over and over and still laugh. It's like he instantly finds that sound ear-grating and knows it means he's about to be annoyed! But I'm just like Pat when I'm browsing retro games. I can't help it! "OH WOW!"
I Buy Caltron today only for 8 dlls (no joke) but when i put in My classic nes the screen flash like in your vídeo, theres other way for play the cardtridge? I mover the switch and clean the pcb pins but it's the same, only flash in the menú screen
I don't understand why people say that the store owner's an asshole, when he's just acting that way for the sake of this video. If I'm not mistaken, his name is Ian, and is the guy who appears in Pat's podcasts (as someone else in the comments already mentioned). In other words, he's a nice guy!
This was my first watch of the video and I didnt even realise that was Ian. I've only just become a fan of Pat's after watching most of Completely Unnecessary Podcast with Ian and I think anyone watching needs to remember Ian is just acting here. He is an awesome guy and good friends with Pat.
I had it too. The one with the BS label on it as my aunt worked for some company that exported electronics to Brasil in the 90's. Long story short, I left it at my grandmothers house and to my knowledge she threw it out =/
How come I never see any one do any reviews on those 151-in-1 carts that came apart in the middle and had a little ribbon on them? Pat get on that my man!
if you remember properly, when avgn reviewed adam and eve, he was talking about the caltron 6 in 1. he even showed a bit of footage for each game before talking about adam and eve.
Hey, Pat, if you're having trouble with getting games around the lockout chip, you have 1 of 2 options. 1) Just use the Top Loader. It was made without the lockout chip, so it'll play anything. 2) This one's a little bit time consuming, but it'll save you a ton of headaches later on: Open up the NES to reveal the entire circuit board, from there find the small chip that reads "Nintendo". That's the lockout chip, counting from left-to-right, find and cut pin number 4, that'll disable the lockout
Fun Fact: the Alladin game is on the Power Joy famicom cart. its a chinese bootleg cart that was used for one of those N64 shaped controller tv games called Power Joy. I'm not sure if any other Caltron games are on it but I have it playin on my TV
Oh yeah Pat, there's the remake of Streemerz for the Action 52 OWNS Project, it's an NES ROM that's heavily reminiscent of Bionic Commando.. you should give it a try, it's very fun!
I'm surprised the owner of Luna games was okay with this being made, yes it gives him some free publicity but Ian acting like a jerk could potentially stop someone from going there if they don't watch the cupodcast or understand it was a joke.
I know but based off the comments initially ALOT of people thought this was real as Ian hadn't appeared on the podcast yet and there wasn't much to say it wasn't true.
Is Luna Game Store in San Diego or some where in California ? Seems like I ran across them searching for Turbographx-16 and Turbo Duo games on the internet.
I find it kinda funny how the store owner was being an ass yet there's an advertisement poster for the Better Business Bureau right behind him. (Yes, I know this is an act.) Also, no retinas or Excalibur on Calcutta sexy gams. Lol
***** Typical Christian, thinks that if someone disagrees with their view they MUST be Atheist, as there is no other possible explanation or religion to follow. It's either Christian or Atheist eh?
I have a 1650 in 1 Cart from I believe Malaysia... It has a ton of crazy variations of games on it! makes it really interesting! got it in 1992... still have it... its amazing!
I don't get how Balloon Fight can be considered a clone of Joust, it feels very different. For one you fly/hover in Balloon Fight, not in Joust where you just jump.
In Joust you can fly, too. Repeated taps of the button causes the ostrich to gain altitude and hover. Granted it's jerkier and you fall faster once you let up, but the principle of getting above enemies to knock them out of the sky is the same.
Luna Video Games is a totally awesome store. Those of us who live in San Diego are lucky to have such a store. It's great to goto a video game store and not be asked "Would you like to preorder anything today?"
I had a 42 in one. I know, it's far less than 150 but it was fun nevertheless. My favorite games were Battle City, Lode Runner, Ice climbers and Star Force, all classic first generation NES/Famicom games from '82 to '85.
strange thing is that I live in Georgia other side of earth and as a child I had this cartridge I don't remember how from where and sadly not even what happened to it :( and I didn't even owned NES we only had famiclones here but this cartridge had some kind of adaptor and worked on my famiclone which was called Dendy Mega Drive 2 :D.
No, Space Harrier was never released in any form for the NES, though there might have been a Famicom version. You might be thinking of After Burner which was a Sega game that Tengen did release for the NES.
Hey guys have you ever opened up two of the same nes games and noticed that the connector pins are different. I popped open two super mario brothers 2 and one had connectors running al the way along the board and the other had a gap in the middle. Is this due to the one being newer than other? and is the one with the gap better becuase it has to make contact with less pins?
I actually have Cosmos Cop on a multicart game called Super Games 500 in 1, which my parents got me for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, it has good games too, like the Ninja turtles games, elevator action, all the NES black box games, even Famicom games such as an old RPG called "the adventure of Valkyrie: the legend of The key of time."
@deniskenn we have car-boot sales which is simelar I guess but if there is any games, which are few and far between, the sellers take advantage and have them at sky high prices.
Caltron is alternate name of the other game company which is called Asder and they made 6-in-1 with the name Caltron. So most of the people call this multicart Caltron 6-in-1.
Wasn't all the games made by NTDEC / MegaSoft? I only know that the Magic Carpet 1001 is avaliable very rarely on multicarts / singlecarts known as Aladdin III, which is so rare, that I have at least 3 copies of it. YAY.
"Wow, look at the Nintendo games. There's so many of them! If I didn't have them all, I'd be even more excited!"
As a cashier I'd feel a little uneasy with this stores layout, it looks like the main area is entirely obscured from the counter.
+BobvanKay my local store is set out like this all the disks are behind the desk andd cartriges are in glass casess so if you rob the boxes you wont get the games.

I love how the "Boxed games!" conversation is actually how they started talking. At least according to the podcast.
I actually talked to the Luna Games employee while I was looking for Earthbound cheaply. He's really nice in general and I can't believe he didn't sound a bit annoyed about me fanboying on him XD
Probably was payed to act like that ie the cameras by this i mean the one filming him and pat
There's literally no hope for humanity if you can't tell a skit when you see one.
"OH WOW!"
Also Space Harrier was ported onto the NES but only in Japan.
I miss Ian in these videos, hell I miss these reviews :)
Ian acted much more customer friendly than the owners of the game store I used to go to XD.
ian is such a good actor
so true
what the fuck are you talking about i answered ky
yes we need more of Ian's acting
Pat's actually oscar worthy
Ian has got the art of sarcasm down perfectly. That line about confederate currency is still my favorite line in any Punk video to date.
no wonder Ian drinks.......... great video.
WOW! even this footage looks clearer than Ian's camera on the CUPodcast.
The lockout chip is needed for many unlicensed games to function, since the the game looks for the lockout chip in order to get around it.
I Buy Caltron today only for 8 dlls (no joke) but when i put in My classic nes the screen flash like in your vídeo, theres other way for play the cardtridge? I mover the switch and clean the pcb pins but it's the same, only flash in the menú screen
Always come back to this hidden gem. Love the story, love the acting...muah!
Wow, Ian's first appearance!
"All 6 games are original"
1st game he plays is space harrier.
I don't understand why people say that the store owner's an asshole, when he's just acting that way for the sake of this video. If I'm not mistaken, his name is Ian, and is the guy who appears in Pat's podcasts (as someone else in the comments already mentioned). In other words, he's a nice guy!
yea they are friends i take it
This was my first watch of the video and I didnt even realise that was Ian. I've only just become a fan of Pat's after watching most of Completely Unnecessary Podcast with Ian and I think anyone watching needs to remember Ian is just acting here. He is an awesome guy and good friends with Pat.
Yea he's just acting, they are best friends
I can’t believe anyone didn’t realize this whole thing was scripted. I seriously refuse to believe anyone is that stupid. Then again, I am on TH-cam.
ahhhh the memories
Holy shit Ian looked so different back then, I barely recognize him
3:50. I'm somewhat of a collectionist.
Cosmic cop on the cover of the game reminds me of a SAMAS from the Rifts RPG.
Ians the best at the angy Lesbian look. :P
Yes
Its crazy to watch their pod cast now and see how fat we all get as we age.
Man this is crazy. I literally used to live just down the street from Luna games. That place was amazing.
Was this Luna store a house once? It's a nice store but it has that house turned to business feel.
The algorithm decided to recommend this and man Pat and Ian were babies here
I HAD THIS "6 IN 1" CARTRIDGE!
I had it too. The one with the BS label on it as my aunt worked for some company that exported electronics to Brasil in the 90's. Long story short, I left it at my grandmothers house and to my knowledge she threw it out =/
luna isn't what i expected
8:03 that’s relatable as shit
If you have an original nintendo, you know the pain
@Matt of the Beans So true!
Crush roller? sounds like a precursor to Splatoon.
Coincidence you be the judge!
Space Harrier was ported to the Famicom by Takara.
Them Symphony of the Night and DMC3 posters.
Just something about way you film Pat, just fuckin love it
How come I never see any one do any reviews on those 151-in-1 carts that came apart in the middle and had a little ribbon on them? Pat get on that my man!
I wish Ian was like this in cupodcast
I own this game!! i played it alot back in the day feels good to own at least one of the top 10 rarest nes games ever.
if you remember properly, when avgn reviewed adam and eve, he was talking about the caltron 6 in 1. he even showed a bit of footage for each game before talking about adam and eve.

Going back watching these has been fun.
Fun Fact: the Alladin game is on the Power Joy famicom cart. its a chinese bootleg cart that was used for one of those N64 shaped controller tv games called Power Joy.
I'm not sure if any other Caltron games are on it but I have it playin on my TV
Man, why can't I have an awesome game store like that around my town
I have the same reaction as Pat when I find an awesome game store.
That is me at my local game store. Neutopia CIB 😁 Also, when he was sniffing that cart, I thought he was going to go all Red Dragon on it, and eat it.
Oh yeah Pat, there's the remake of Streemerz for the Action 52 OWNS Project, it's an NES ROM that's heavily reminiscent of Bionic Commando.. you should give it a try, it's very fun!
I love the fact that the intro was a spoof of A Christmas Story. Awesome video.
Pat, I can't believe you didn't notice that they totally copied the Mega Man 3 Bee for that Magic Carpet 1001 game!
You people are WROOOONG! The best part of the video is Pat walking through a peaceful town that looks like 80's California.
Ian rocking the Daniel Johnston shirt. I'm impressed.
Something tells me that's the service you would get from Ian
Why doesnt my hometown have a place like this?
Is Luna Game Store in San Diego or some where in California ? Seems like I ran across them searching for Turbographx-16 and Turbo Duo games on the internet.
Yeah, there are two Luna locations in San Diego, although the one in the video has moved twice since then (it's in Chula Vista now.)
Wait, there is menu music? My copy doesn't have that. Mine never had a video rental sticker on it either.
The ending was great. "GrumblegrumblegrumbleIwilltakethat!"
Sweet is this the first pat nes punk video with Ian?
I find it kinda funny how the store owner was being an ass yet there's an advertisement poster for the Better Business Bureau right behind him.
(Yes, I know this is an act.)
Also, no retinas or Excalibur on Calcutta sexy gams. Lol
Been to two retro game stores in Las Vegas. Felt like Pat both times.
Ian looks like he really enjoys that role :D
Ian has changed so much since this video!
I think the music of Adam and Eve is Harry Belafonte's Jamaica Farewell
Magical Chase were a great game! Great music, max retro nostalgia. Wish there were more like them
The Adam & Eve story Pat tells is more believable than the "real" one.
Eh, what?
***** that's how every one is to me
***** stfu
***** Typical Christian, thinks that if someone disagrees with their view they MUST be Atheist, as there is no other possible explanation or religion to follow.
It's either Christian or Atheist eh?
I think the story of Adam and Eve is one of the most interesting myths in the world history.
I had never heard of Soko-Ban before, but Porter also looks like a Game Boy game called Boxxle.
Aw, Luna Games was 30 minutes from where I lived, and I never went before I moved. :( Good to see them featured here.
I have a 1650 in 1 Cart from I believe Malaysia... It has a ton of crazy variations of games on it! makes it really interesting! got it in 1992... still have it... its amazing!
Ian's wearing that Hi How Are You shirt again - nice! (Johnston is truly wonderful)
Game shop guy reminded me of a lot of comic book shop guys I've known.
Come on Pat, Space Harrier was released for the NES in Japan! It came out around 1988, by Takara.
+CarozQH Well then it was ported for the Famicom, not the Nes. :)
Horzuhammer
It's pretty much the same thing...
Pat doesn’t live in Japan.
I cracked up when pat says "a marked improvement over action 52's high pitched neeaah neeuuuuaa"
Well, Space Harrier was ported to the Famicom in Japan. Idk why that never got localized.
Random intro for a totally random game. Love it ;)
Love the intro music to all your vids.
Well, the intro is exactly how I act at Disc Replay. Cheers mate.

Didnt Tengen do a version of space harrier for the NES?
No, Space Harrier was never released in any form for the NES, though there might have been a Famicom version. You might be thinking of After Burner which was a Sega game that Tengen did release for the NES.
Pat what you really love of the Nes Libarary?
Hey, Pat, I was just wondering if you had anything rare by Super Nintendo standards, like Donkey Kong Country Competition or Star Fox Competition.
Best way to win an argument with Pat. Produce one turbografix
Ha ha! Right when Pat said "yay it's working" TH-cam froze...
Hey guys have you ever opened up two of the same nes games and noticed that the connector pins are different. WOW! PatTheNESpunk can see around corners and thru walls!
16:58 That penguin looks really familiar...
16:42 Hack of Brush Roller by Hwang Shinwei
And Ian becomes a 🌟
That does it! You're my new AVGN!
What is the rarest snes game that is good? I want to have something for a console I have that I could say is rare
@mspeter97 that rare thingy is a turbo grafx with neptunia and some other games
That old Volvo outside of the store is sick.
Hi, How Are You! - Daniel Johnston
Noticed it too! amazing
I'll admit, Pat's acting at the end was pretty lackluster, though the review itself is great.
2:59 OMG!!! that is an amazing Castlevania SotN poster OwO
@mspeter97 you mean the turbografix 16, its a pain cos it was never released in UK
at what point in Pat's vids does he invest in an HD camera?
Hi Pat! You know if this Game can be play it on the nes top loader? Or only on the normal nes
