    I don't see why they can't make a new Xterra. Just take the current Frontier and get rid of the bed lol. They wouldn't want to potentially take some sales away from people who are cross shopping a Bronco, Wrangler or 4Runner? I know I'd definitely take the X.

    • @cesarespinozaspain
      @cesarespinozaspain 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      That would be awesome, however with Nissan planers circling around the toilet bowl waiting to go down. They wouldn't know a great idea if it went right past them.

      @dig494 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yep. I had a 2011 XTerra with a manual 6 speed. My only hate on it was the leaf spring rear suspension and it did not have a locker rear diff. Put 120k miles on it and it held it's value pretty well when I sold in 2016. 3.5 VQ was port injection as well. I could get 22-23 mpg when hyper miling. I agree Nissan needs to make a new BOF Xterra.

    I remember when the Pathfinder was a rear wheel drive based on frame vehicle . Now it's a front wheel based unibody vehicle . It went from an actual truck type vehicle to more of an SUV now .

      Which would make more sense to have an Xterra, since before the Pathfinder and Xterra kinda did the exact same thing for Nissan.

      Was thinking the same thing. Pathfinder was a legit 4Runner competitor during the hard body era. I think today it is a Maxima with an SUV body like how a Highlander is a Camry.

    I have a Nissan cockroach, a 2000 Frontier with 214k miles and still going strong. Many original parts; engine clutch transmission AC rear brake shoes. Famous KA24DE engine popular with drift cars and other swaps. Mine is still sorta nice. I clean it periodically but the sunshine is taking its toll on the window seals, clearcoat and etc.

    "One of these things is not like the other..." 🤣 I mean can you imagine FOUR of those on the slope? YES on an XTerra, btw.
    Y'know, I was thinking the angle of your hair swinging forward might approximate the dive angle of the test vehicle under braking...
    but, uh, I guess momentum kinda f---s that up. 😐 GREAT review, as always.

    I have a 2012 Pathfinder which is what I consider to be the last REAL Pathfinder. And yeah, they should definitely bring back the XTERRA but Nissan is such a weird company these days being under the control of Renault which is so "French!"

    There are no Better or even equal New Car reviewers than Sarah. There is no one I can find that gets under the Vehicle measuring the thickness of Sway Bars, explaining the GUTS of a vehicle the way Sarah does. Your Fashion becomes you. Matching the "mushroom" color in your Top to the Pathfinder's color is great. The Catholic School Skirt completes the package with the Scientist White Coat. Who can resist Sarah's Bolster test and her facial expressions doing the Brake Test!! Great Work Again, Brava.

    Xterra was there last great addition to their lineup with a real skid plate...It was a real truck that could take a beating and had a great 4 wheel drivetrain...I have 400,000 miles on my 2011 xterra and don't plan on letting it go anytime soon...I'd buy another one in a minute .I don't want a soccer mom skid plate with all wheel drive .

  • @markdraper4087

    Yes, they need to bring back the Xterra. I've owned a 2015 Xterra Pro4X since new, and just hit 100k miles. I love it, and plan on having it for many more years. I would definitely consider another one, but would want a manual and a diesel would be sweet.

    I still daily a 2015 Xterra
    Id love to see Nissan bring it back. I do hope its a body on frame rear wheel based vehicle though.
    I dont mind so much that the pathfinder went to a 3rd suv style. The front wheel based bothers me for some reason

  • @thechefster53

    @joeyp1927 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I'm with you on a body-on-frame Pathfinder or Xterra. I remember the Pfdr from the early 90s and it was one of the coolest little trucks out there. Then Nissan ruined it, made it Momwagon (no offense to moms/dads out there.) Then they kinda made the Xterra, well-reviewed as a 'new' Pfdr...then killed it. Come to think of it, Nissan, Honda and Toyota ruin or kill their best-loved vehicles. Not just trucks either: Prelude, CRX, Integra, S2000, Supra, G35, etc. I think they listen too much to marketing guys, not customers.

    That Pathfinder looks really well made for a modern car. It should last as much as 50K miles before crumbling to pieces.
    Nissan should make a very basic Xterra without any electronic anything that lasts 300K miles and costs like $20K. And don't change the design for 20 years.

    Yes! Bring back the Xterra! Had my SE 4x4 for 17 years! Nissan could totally compete with the Bronco if they did it right. Simple ‘ol skool stripped down “park it in the sun to activate the heated seats” vibe. I’d definitely consider it if it had the same lean look of the original. Who wants another egg shaped SUV!?!?! Nobody!!!

    Nice review Sarah, I currently run a 2010 Xterra , my first Xterra was a 2008 and I drove it to AZ from NH towing a 21’ travel trailer. I just put on a new set of Cooper Road & Trail AT’s, the are da bomb. I heard from a Nissan dealer that Xterra will be brought back in 2025. So I will wait for that rather than give in to this Pathy with a big sticker price.😊

    It looks nice, is well equipped for the price, and it doesn't have some wet fart of a turbo 4cylinder huffing away under the hood. The VQ actually sounds like an internal combustion engine. I like it.

    I do kinda miss the stepped roof of my '02 X ... but I'd love to see Nissan go after the BRZ/GR86 or MX-5, instead.

      As much as I'd love to see it (I've owned both a Z31 & S13 and currently own a Z33), I don't see that happening.
      Utes move the sales needle far more than sport compacts, and there's no doubt the bean counters would cite the poor sales numbers of the RZ34 (while ignoring low availability and the extreme price gouging) as the reason for not bringing a sport compact competitor to market.
      EDIT: I really miss my N50 Xterra and would love to see a more modern (but not tech laden) version out there (with a front locker this time 'round) to run against the omnipresent Broncos & Wranglers.

    I have a 2005 Xterra with over 164,000 miles on it. It's a great vehicle! I've been wanting Nissan to bring back the Xterra for years.🤞

    I remember when the Pathfinder arrived in the mid 80s. At that time, it was a very desirable rig. Two row seating, v6 power, 4wd, and 5 speed manual.
    This? Hard pass.

    1000% Should bring back the Xterra. They hardly advertised it when it was in production and in today's market, it would do well. Especially the Pro4X models.

    Have to say, Sarah... this Pathfinder's identity crisis is clearly laid out on the 'tailgate' or rear hatch. Some of the ugliest font and grouping I've seen on a modern vehicle.

      I was thinking the same thing, almost like they asked the work experience kid to slap those stick on badges anywhere.

    Wish the Pathfinder was like 90's Pathfinder. It's sad to see how has bloated over time. Can't even climb what a Crosstrek did. Should have called it WalmartCreek.

    That wasn't a drain in the trunk storage compartment. That's where you access the release mechanism for the spare tire. And speaking of tires, those Toyo Open Country AT2's are so underrated. There's a reason why some of the best stuff is still made in Japan, and those tires definitely live up to that sentiment.
