Sir I have written so many manuals of my seniors when I was a junior and didn't even receive a thanks....but even after all that I never asked even a one junior to do any of my work even if it was a simple task...I believe we shouldn't do something to others which we never want anyone does the same to us...I was really happy to see that you're also promoting this good idea of not treating your junior badly...but sir still few of our colleagues rag the juniors which never breaks this chain
A depressing culture is present in most of the medical colleges where emotional harassment of students is justified as it "prepares them for a tough world ahead". True, it's nothing but abuse. Glad to see a practical opinion on this. Good video sir.

First year is such a vulnerable space to be, it consolidates entire base on which you'll grow thereafter both personally and academically. We probably won't understand the extent of the ramifications of ragging just because we are form a different era. Ragging is a reality, it is exactly what you said sir an abuse. And abuse in any form has long standing effect in almost all aspects. We conveniently choose to overlook our responsibility in the medical field as a "Senior" even though if we are in the second year only. All it requires is a smile and a compassionate "Hey, what's your name buddy?" this will have a profound impact on that young, fragile, soft mind in front of us. I was greeted by such a senior on the 3rd day of my college and now as post intern I call him middle of the night to vent my problems.. All it took was him coming up to me with a smile. Change won't come until we start making it.. bits and pieces.. drop by drop. Everyone is looking for human empathy. Satya Nadella has said in hid book and I quote “If you could understand impermanence deeply, you would develop more equanimity. You would not get too excited about either the ups or downs of life. And only then would you be ready to develop that deeper sense of empathy and compassion for everything around you.” Let us all try to be better in understanding emotions. Let us try to greet our juniors with a smile rather than a stern face, let us all try to offer first hand of help as the kid in front of you might need it but he/she is too scared to ask, let us break that shackle of having a senior - junior relationship and be just equals. God has given us a heart filled with millions of emotions, choose the right ones.. use them at right time.. remember always start with a smile. Be a human first.
It was 1982 when my father was doing his Post Grad in Mumbai... few Seniors came to his room late in the night... they Started ragging him... my father was a wrestler in his school days... he beaten up his Seniors & paid them with interest.. When I was in a College he told me "Survival of the fittest" is the only truth...

Awesome video sir.. it is actually present in various forms every where and as you said, psychological ones are more common now. Being a girl, I haven’t had any physical ones.. but things like prohibition from canteen and library (I was told to leave once even after 10months in the college). The so called “interaction” , no eye contact with any senior, waiting in the queue while seniors get facilities (be it food In mess or giving blood in donation camps). Of course the most common threat is “boycott”. The thing is after getting into medical college these people forget the humanity part. I have been called into a room to be scolded for not letting a senior take roti first(which was by mistake) in my second year, and the same senior asking me for some favour the other day. I think these are a handful of people with frustrations in their minds which they vent out on juniors. (P.s. the seniors who have interacted and who always help me now and then , have never tormented me emotionally ever).
Problem is if u oppose u will be barred from hostel activities. But everybody is doing this and no one points against it. I was very sad when medical fraternity follows this.

Being cooperative and friendly to your juniors can help a lot rather than being a brute senior. This has grown to be a concern at the national level and in near future by God's grace there shall exist no word like ragging

Thank u sir..for addressing this issue..we were not allowed to wear jeans in our first year..and taking dupattas was compulsory.. Both my parents were horribly ragged because of poor economic background! Back in 70's and 80's

Sadly medicine as a subject and surgical specialities in particular are filled with many highly egotistical and megalomaniac people from bottom till the helm !! Ward-ins, abusing in front of patients, mental harassment etc. are unfortunately the norm, supposedly in order to make one a better surgeon and as a rite of passage ( break them before you make them!). Juniors, don't think twice, show these kinds of seniors/consultants a straight middle finger on their face. Be humble, be kind and bring pride to our great profession. Peace :)
There's one more thing....it seems even lecturers bully the kids of first year....not only the seniors....like my kid tells me that some boys gets so badly insulted ryt in front of the whole batch of 100 students....it's lyk the teachers are also venting out their frustrations in these poor kids who have just passed out from their 12 th and not even exposed to the big bad world that they are forced to loose their self confidence ryt from the beginning itself

I'd say , a minimal interaction is actually needed in 1st year, sir .. im in final year and i have never regretted about being ragged ( not actual rag but the interaction along with singing , calling sir , some skits and all) .. that has actually created a bond between friends and seniors who later help you in all ways .... According to me its all good till it hurts someones feelings or self respect ! I believe its called Interacting and may be grade 1 ragging 😂😂
I want to inform you that I reported the occurrence of the incident of ragging at the National Anti-Ragging Helpline of UGC (WB-5571) on 27th July 2019 at 01:33:49 pm. I observed that the college has violated most of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations 2009. I complained about those violations to UGC but as of now UGC has not taken any action on the college as per clause 9.4 the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. I am attaching all copies of RTI and all the proofs which showed that the college has committed gross violation despite these UGC has failed to take any action on the college authority as per the clause 9.4 the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 01. The Anti-Ragging cell of Kharagpur College affiliated to Vidyasagar University did not proceed to file First Information Report (FIR) within twenty four hours of the reported occurrence of the incident of ragging. They violated clause 7 of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 02. They did not initiate enquiry within seven days of the reported occurrence of the incident of ragging and They also failed to take remedial action within the seven days. They violated clause 9 of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 03. They have not taken the Anti-Ragging Undertaking/Affidavit from me and my parents/guardians. They violate clause 6.1(d), clause 6.1(e) clause 6.1(g) & clause 8.2(b) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 04. They have not installed any CCTV cameras within the hostel, classrooms & labs. They have not been protected the hostel by security guards. No surprise raid by the Anti-Ragging squad. They violate clause 6.1(k), clause 6.1(l) & cause 6.3(d) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 05. They have not taken sufficient action against the perpetrators. They violated section 4 & section 6 of West Bengal Anti-Ragging Regulation 2000, clause 7 of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 06. They have not provided contact numbers of National Anti-Ragging Helpline, Anti-Ragging Committees, Anti-Ragging Squad, Principal, faculty members, Warden, District authorities, Sub-Divisional authorities and other functionaries or authority at the prospectus 2019-20 & 2020-21. They violated clause 6.1(b) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 07. The Principal did not send the letters to my parents/guardians to inform them about UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. He violated clause 6.3(q) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 08. They had not offered counselling to the freshers, other students, parents & teachers by professional counsellors before the commencement of academic session to prepare them for the life ahead, particularly in regard to the life of hostel & to extent possible. They violated clause 6.1(o) & clause 6.4(d) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 09. As per complaint log of the National Anti-Ragging Helpline, Guest Teacher (Zoology Department) Mr. Abhimanyu Mudi declined to help National Anti-Ragging Helpline. He violated clause 6.4(g) & clause 6.4(h) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. The principal had not initiated departmental action against the guest teacher. He violated clause 9.3 of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 10. They had not conducted the survey among the freshers every fortnight during the first three months of the academic year to verify & cross-check whether indeed free of ragging or not and for the purpose the institution may design its own methodology of conducting such survey. They violated clause 6.4(l) of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. 11. College grossly failed to take adequate steps to prevent ragging, failed to act according to UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009 and also failed to punish all perpetrators. University had not taken necessary action against the college. They violated clause 9.2 the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009. Despite the clear violation of UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations 2009 UGC have grossly failed to take any action on the college. Even after passing 02 years UGC has not taken any action against the college and my security is continuously under threat. I request you to kindly instruct the UGC to take very strong and exemplary action on the college.
In my college there's a rule to bow 90 degree to wish the senior and it's called 90 maarna. We always respect seniors but making people bow irrespective of their religious beliefs in the name of rule seems unfair.

Sir plz guide me🙏🙏 Reading notes for particular subject den doing marrow modules related to dat n finally previous year exams paper for neet n aiims...will dat be sufficient enough to get decent rank...because when I try to attempt questions of some subjectwise books firstly it takes alot of tym ...secondly I ended up with many topic not dere in notes so making me doing a large no. Of wrong ....lastly I got depressed when not able to solve questions .
No one cares sir. The rat race and ego is too horrible in our community. It's ego and ego. Too much ego. Every medico harbours it. I saw it everyday. Proffessors encouraged ragging. They enjoyed it. Boasted about how bad they got it and still survived through it. Boss is always right. The app you mentioned might be helpful. But ego will continue to exist.
One of my senior slapped me and thrashed me on the bed just because I didn't replied his WhatsApp message then he asked me to become "medical chair " and then "murga" until i started shivering and fell on the bed then he told that everything that continue itself with time is good and that's why ragging is still prevailing, he also added that he was ragged brutally and he will also rag ,and encouraged me to rag my juniors when they will come ..........so should I call it as the limit (case of SRVSMC shivpuri mp).....and one of our professor said that all of you are misbehaving cause you are not being ragged ,,,,, should I ask your senior to rag you ?.........and another one (who is also our warden ) said that ragging to hamre zamane mein hoti thi ab hoti hi Kahan hai tab hum 100thappad marte the college kei bahar aur maza ata tha ,,,,and he always emphasize that ki thoda bhot intro type kuch yaad kar lo .....fr jab tumhare juniors ayenge tab tum bhi to unse intro loge

Even after passing 02 years UGC has not taken any action against the college and my security is continuously under threat. I request you to kindly instruct the UGC to take very strong and exemplary action on the college.

In my college there's a rule to bow 90 degree to wish the senior and it's called 90 maarna.
We always respect seniors but making people bow irrespective of their religious beliefs in the name of rule seems unfair.

Reading notes for particular subject den doing marrow modules related to dat n finally previous year exams paper for neet n aiims...will dat be sufficient enough to get decent rank...because when I try to attempt questions of some subjectwise books firstly it takes alot of tym ...secondly I ended up with many topic not dere in notes so making me doing a large no. Of wrong ....lastly I got depressed when not able to solve questions .

No one cares sir. The rat race and ego is too horrible in our community. It's ego and ego. Too much ego. Every medico harbours it. I saw it everyday. Proffessors encouraged ragging. They enjoyed it. Boasted about how bad they got it and still survived through it. Boss is always right. The app you mentioned might be helpful. But ego will continue to exist.

Sir, I want solution about professor ragging
One of my senior slapped me and thrashed me on the bed just because I didn't replied his WhatsApp message then he asked me to become "medical chair " and then "murga" until i started shivering and fell on the bed then he told that everything that continue itself with time is good and that's why ragging is still prevailing, he also added that he was ragged brutally and he will also rag ,and encouraged me to rag my juniors when they will come ..........so should I call it as the limit (case of SRVSMC shivpuri mp).....and one of our professor said that all of you are misbehaving cause you are not being ragged ,,,,, should I ask your senior to rag you ?.........and another one (who is also our warden ) said that ragging to hamre zamane mein hoti thi ab hoti hi Kahan hai tab hum 100thappad marte the college kei bahar aur maza ata tha ,,,,and he always emphasize that ki thoda bhot intro type kuch yaad kar lo .....fr jab tumhare juniors ayenge tab tum bhi to unse intro loge
