Very smart and articulate. Impressive grasp of the Akan language. Her extensive vocabulary in twi puts a lot of us to shame.

You are right. At 76 years of age. Akan born. I have a lot to learn in spoken twi. Some of the words and expressions are new to me. Yes, she puts me to shame.

@@bowgate3817 This is why many people don't respect Africans. Why would people respect people sho don't value their own languages enough to learn and speak them while boasting about their supposed mastery of other people's languages?

You are on point with us all being part of the solution rather than the negative cries. Old citizens like us who were the first citizens post colonial have sacrificed a lot to support growth. University days for more than 3 months we all had to go into the hinterland to carry cocoa beans for export to raise foreign exchange for Ghana. I am proud my generation never complained and went to assist to add value. Please stop taking away values. You observe eg drivers driving on pavements to avoid traffic. Let us protect what we have so money can be channelled elsewhere. Let us also revisit Dr Ephraim Amu's Yen ara asaase ni. The lyrics encourages us to pick up the mantle and run with it to add value to the growth and well being of Ghana.

And yet the rest of us (myself included) are trying so hard to forget our mother tongue .. we bring up our speaking English and not teaching them how to speak twi! I am still amazed that kids are growing up in GH and can’t speak their native language. It’s so sad but the parents think it’s FLEX… how ignorant!!!!

Thank you, (Adwoa) Yaa Baby. I like you, Yaa, for your bravado and for what you’re doing for my tribe and country. I am an Asante and a very proud one. People from other tribes who became my friends wanted to kill me because of my being an Asante and the fact that I never left behind any aspects of it. I have corrected some about the language which has gradually been “bastardized” by numerous Fm radio presenters. They began destroying the beautiful Asante TWI about twenty years ago. I love it that you, a native of Almighty USA, has taken it upon yourself to further enhance this beautiful language and culture and to instil in your children the purity of the language and its culture. My fourth child is a girl. She was born in Anloga in Kumasi. When I started speaking TWI to her, my wife - half Ewe half Ga - objected even though I told her she will know the English language once she started school. But my wife didn’t agree. Now she doesn’t want anything to do with TWI even though my wife herself speaks it. So thank you. I will try and get in touch but keep it up. You are appreciated.
