HOW MUCH MONEY I SPEND PER WEEK LIVING IN GHANA AS A SINGLE WOMAN?
The cost of living in Ghana is, on average, 61.0% lower than in United States. It’s also lower if you compare it to many other parts of the world.
Accra is one of the expensive cities to live in compared to other regions in Ghana eg. The Ashanti region, being one of the more affordable places to live.
In this video I share a detailed break down on everything I spend on rent, electricity, internet, food and many other necessities.
I also share some details on how to cut costs while living here in Ghana.
We also get to explore some local shops within Accra, Ghana.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
Add another former American that now lives in Ghana. Wow y'all are making me change my mind about Ghana. I was so to relocate to South Africa however a lot of people that have relocated to Ghana. Is proving to me, I will be giving Ghana a chance to claim me as a future reaident. I am visiting some friends in October and now I'm super excited. Got to save some more to officially leave the USA for good but I think I will be ready in early 2024. Thank you for sharing, this was amazing to watch and see. ❤
So happy to hear 🙏🏾🥰
Dear Ama, It is always such a joy watching your videos. With your down to earth personality and way of thinking - is so unique and unusual especially as an African Blogger. Always love seeing the natural scenery and hustle and bustle in Ghana. Being originally from a neighbouring country (dare i name the country!)- it is disheartening to see how different both countries are - with regards to security instability. Seeing you being so carefree and relaxed running your errands without having to look over your shoulders most of the time. This is always the case for most of us living abroad - who visit our country. It could understandably even explain why you haven’t done a tour of my country - as it just isn’t safe. Love what you are doing - beautiful inside and out ❤
Thank u Angel 🙏🏾❤️
The petrol prices are criminal 😩
But thank you for sharing and your transparency!
$200 a month rent for a 2bd apartment sounds like a good deal if you ask me.
It really is
Heck , consider I live in America and average rent here is $1000 to $1500/ month, I kinda find even nice used cars in Ghana are on average cheaper than the US
@@jasonsimmons671that's a high class apartment rent in Kenya.
It is BUT the challenge in Ghana is whether the landlord is good with maintenance and backup water and electrical...there is always that risk.
Where can I find this?
Living your best life everyday ❤❤❤❤❤
Totally 🙏🏾🥰🥰❤️
Seeing you after a long time. You are much improved. 😊

Good afternoon. Thank you for opening my eyes to Ghana. Your videos are not only entertaining but also informative. Cannot wait to visit.
Jas this is a simple straightforward concise vlog. Excellent thanks really informative. It is not easy to relocate or visit a place, having information like this enables you to budget better and know where you can see your financial fit. 🎉😊🎉 It is great to see small business Dressmakers and Tailors still producing in Ghana such an invaluable service.
You won’t be single for much longer 😉 ❤
So I watched this video about 3 hours ago and I must mention how timely it is for me. I am travelling to Accra in August to stay for 3 months and I now have a general idea of what to expect for the expenditure. I came across your YT channel just 4 days ago and I have since watched at least 7 videos. Not only are your contents educative, you exude a great sense of naturality and uniqueness. Please keep it up. Can I count on you when I visit to help me settle in? I have many friends discouraging me cause some of them have been scammed. I will really love to meet with you.
Hey I will be visiting Ghana. Cape coast to be exact In August too..
I have texted Jasmine several times and have even lived in Ghana. I was there just recently and two years ago. Miss Jasmine did not reply to my request to meet her. I am an American and have lived in several African countries. I will be living in Ethiopia starting next month. Of all the African nations Ethiopia has never been colonized. We are a proud people. I strongly identify with them and my mission is there.
So happy u have found my content helpful. With regards to meeting i cant promise to meet because my schedule can b hectic. If u need any further information u can email amajasminee@gmail.com
Will do what i can to support xx

Hi Jasmine,
I luv your content! Do you have a video on the most efficient way to arrange a visit to Ghana, get a car, start a business, search for homes or builders, etc. I would love to watch a video discussing the most efficient way to pursue these things. There are a lot of people online doing videos but I appreciate your content and how its conveyed so I would love to know perspective on how to arrange things in the most efficient and safe way, thank you.
I have these in separate videos. I will see if i can curate something that will cover all aspects xx
@@JasmineAmaa Peace Jasmine! Thank you for responding to my message. Well, Indeed a concise video encompassing the whole process from the best flights, what to expect in the airport, what official agencies we should become familiar with upon arrival, where are healthstores, what to do if your a family that doesn’t vaccinate, where to go/ contact to establish a business, where to go/contact to find builders, best places to stay or who to contact if you only want to live there for 3-6 months at first, how to obtain a car and license, pet policies. It would be amazing if you can really make videos and meet with the people who handle these matters and get this info!
Lovely vlog 💕

Nice - thank you! What about weekly prices for a more "meat-intensive" diet, along with what you are showing - is it major?
Meat is not that expensive if u buy from local markets. A pound of beef is about 30ghs and chicken is about 27ghs i think x
@@JasmineAmaa Thanks again! 👌
VERY INFORMATIVE VLOG SHOULD I END UP MOVING TO GHANA.😂NICE ❤.
Thank you
Wow!! Not bad. Some say Ghana is expensive...guess it depends on perspective & income. $1,800 a month RENT for 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment plus utilities are separate here in USA for me. Not to mention all the other STUFF needed to survive & for leisure. I really need to move to Ghana. I could literally live like a RICH ASHANTI QUEEN. Thanks for the video. ❤️ 💙 💜
U are welcome x
Thank you for mentioning perspective and income. The problem with people is hasty generalisation. When they see a TH-camr review a $200,000 home in Ghana, eg, they immediately assume that's how much everyone has to raise to own a home, when people are building homes for $20,000 and all. Perspective, perspective, perspective. You see the $200 Jasmine is paying for rent? A lot of us pay even less for two bedrooms. Of course, the more you pay the better the condition of the place and the location.
Then on income, I just told someone on this same video that if you're relocating for good and you can continue to make even half of the income you make in the West, you should be okay. The problem often stems from people relocating and living on their savings, with next to no more income coming in. You'd surely run into financial issues a few years down the line.
I just found your channel. Im sure its a lot cheaper there than sydney ! Or anywhere in Australia right now! Id like to know why you relocated to Ghana from Sydney? I love your channel and just bought some products. You are like an african soul sista !
Sydney felt empty
@@JasmineAmaa I lived in Sydney for 5 years and left, hated it. I totally agree and understand. I was born in Asia and feel that's it's soul less here and only happy whenever I go to Thailand for my holidays. Xx Kim 💕
Those looked like chicken gizzards,a southern African American staple, especially boiled and stewed and poured over a bed of rice!! Yummy❤❤❤
Thank Ama
U are welcome 🙏🏾❤️
Wow the cost of living in Ghana is expensive
U like soju, my country ( Korea ) alcohol! 😊
Its amazing to see soju in Ghana. Great~❤
It varies dear
Cool
Thanks a lot lovely Sister❤
PLEASE....do video's of PRICES of CAR RENTALS for the ones coming on VACATION to GHANA.
THANK YOU.
Stay blessed🌈🌈
Thanks for the tips. I didn’t see you factor in the cost of funerals, Outdooring, weddings, help to extended family and other basic constants!
I believe that those expenses are discretionary for everyone. Those type of expenses may or may not be necessite to everyone.
@@obaaAkos02 I know that but it’s good to make that exception for people who would love to return to Ghana
Have no idea about the cost of this. The variations are too many
🧑🏽💻👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿❤️ Jasmine 🎥📺 🔥💯 ❤️🇬🇭 Watching from Compton California USA 🇺🇸
Hi Tracy 🙏🏾🥰
Ama with the foreign transfer do u transfer from your foreign account(Australia) to Ghana account if so what is the interest rate for instance to transfer money from a u.k/u.s account to the Ghana momo account u talked about in the video and if possible to avoid those rates which is the best route to go to.
Also with the Atm's 🏧 in Ghana is it expensive to withdraw foreign currency like I mean the rates is it that crazy expensive.
These are some good questions. For the atms I feel like the withdrawal are higher but doable.
I use world remit to transfer money from my bank account or debit card to my Momo account. There’s a section where u can select sending to self. There’s also tap tap send and other apps.
Also withdrawing money from local Momo withdrawal station has some charges on it. Depends on the amount you’re withdrawing.
I wonder what others think about this. Best.
Yes u can transfer money directly from Australian account to Ghana momo. I use worldremit for the most part. There are charges but its not too significant. It varies depending on amount u are sending. Also worldremit rates vary. Its expensive to withdraw foreign currency from atms because of international transaction fees. Bank rates are usually trash in comparison to forex bureaus u find around xx
Your car is beautiful.
Hiya. Is the appartment fully furnished?
I miss the alfaro(?) drink
You didnt get the Cracks at Shoprite? 😅
