    Perry Rhodan is a german Sci-Fi series that started in the early sixities and is STILL running with a new issue EVERY WEEK.
    Apart from a few names and the general setup (Rhodan flies to the moon and meets Thora and Crest) this movie has no connection at all with its "source material".
    Every true Perry Rhodan fan hates this movie with a passion.

    • @waldviech6749
      @waldviech6749 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Well, there is at least one similarity... In the original source material, the alien spaceship also was spherical. ;) Besides that, there really is not much else.
      It's also worth noting, that this flick was shown on "Schlefaz" (basicly the German "Mystery Science Theatre 3000")

    This movie was great. I loved how Thora couldn't make up her mind whether she understood how copulation worked or not and how she goes back and forth between being interested in it and at the same time disgusted by the "primitive" humans. I felt like this was supposed to be a James Bond rip-off and someone said "we need aliens!". Italian writing at its best!

    • @havareriksen1004
      @havareriksen1004 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The theme about aliens having evolved to abandon physical sex, and then been reluctantly persuaded into liking it by the hero is a recurring one. Seen most famously in Barbarella, in which Barbarella when first introduced to the forgotten art of sex, uses it to persuade other alien beings to have it with her. Other notable such persuations are in Something is out there, where Ta'ra initially knows only about hand touching hand, but learns there's a whole lot more. And I will count in Lenina Huxley in Demolition Man, though she is not an alien but the setting is alien to John Spartan, and us.

    I saw this movie when I was little and have always had a soft spot for it. Thora is hot and I like the soundtrack. My favorite scene is when they're trying to force her to show them how to work the ship and she triggers the alarm, causing the robots to come out and kill the bad guys. Although it always looked like there was some footage missing.
    I wish I could find a copy of the Italian original (with subs) just for comparison with the dubbed English version.

  • @havareriksen1004

    The theme about aliens having evolved to abandon physical sex, and then been reluctantly persuaded into liking it by the hero is a recurring one. Seen most famously in Barbarella, in which Barbarella when first introduced to the forgotten art of sex, uses it to persuade other alien beings to have it with her. Other notable such persuasions are in Something is out there, where Ta'Ra initially knows only about hand touching hand, but learns there's a whole lot more. And I will count in Lenina Huxley in Demolition Man, though she is not an alien but the setting is alien to John Spartan, and us.

    First Read the novel series perry rodan , peace lord of the universe back in high school ( vol 1 and 2 to start with) then a few years later, the movie popped up on late night TV, had high hopes dashed after the 30 minutes in ,but , ended enjoying it anyway!!
    Oddly, this compares well with another Italian space opera from this period ( possibly made by the same studio) MISSION HYDRA , it has the same off the wall , high giggly fun .
    PLEASE DO A REVIEW OF THIS MOVIE SOON !! 😊😊😊

    OK, on a purely objective analysis of the appalling plot holes, cardboard acting, elementary school special effects and terrible sound design, Mission Stardust does not scream for a Spielberg reboot headlined by Tom Cruise. I mean, it's crap. The spaghetti westerns filmed on the same location were better that this nausea-inducing tax write-off. It hasn't aged well either- I think the Me Too movement would rip Perry Rhodan a new one on Twitter...
    But Essy Persson as Thora? She of the tight space jumpsuit with the strategically placed nipple shielding? A solid two stars from the memory of a young man who still sees the silver lining in this jet black cloud of wasted celluloid.

    There are many hot aliens I'd gladly hook up with, but top pick would be princess Irulan in the 1984 Dune movie, portrayed by Virginia Madsen. I almost named Jacqueline Lowell in Femalien (1996) but then I remembered she was one of the earthlings and the femalien herself was portrayed by Venesa Talor. Darn, she wasn't one of the aliens in Venus Descending, either. I guess runner up would be Barbarella by Jane Fonda. Closely followed by Ta'Ra portrayed by Maryam D'Abo in Something is out there, and Victoria Vetri in Invasion of the Bee Girls.

And that robot looks a creepy amount like some Japanese robots I've seen. In fact the battle dress looks like the costumes in some Japanese space movies. Suggestion; don't take your costume ideas from 1950's Japanese weirdness.
