Boy, I hate it when spaceships run out of fuel in space and come to an immediate halt. If only an object in motion tended to stay in motion.
Yeah, they didn't even have to turn 180° midway through the trip and burn the engines the exact same way as the first half of the trip in order to brake! I'm so happy the programmers of reality FINALLY got around to installing that "friction in space" patch!
A lot of people don't realize space actually has a lot of friction which actually gets more frictiony the faster you go.
I think this movie is pretty much fan frictiony
@@astrayadventurer4450 actually no space has 0 friction, the reason why things get more "frictiony" the faster they go is because they gain mass not because of any friction. The faster something like a rocket gets the more and more mass it gains which requires more power to propelle it along so it reaches a limit in speed, has nothing to do with friction in space as there's no friction
@@brotatooflegend2927 *woosh right over your head*
"The G-spot of pure suck." is one of the best damn comments I've ever heard. My hat's off to you, Brandon.
the funny thing about the laser pistols not shooting any beams is that's how a real laser gun would look. You could only see the beam if it were shot directly into your eye.
And what's with Italian sci-fi having the "aloof, condescending scientist" and the "super-jock asshole captain hero"?
Mr Pavone - You’re right, but some lasers illuminate particles in the atmosphere. It seems like green lasers do this the most. I bet all lasers are invisible in space though.
Fun fact:
The design of robots was copied by the creators of USSR mini-series "Guest from the Future".
To this day Werther is one of the most recognizable sci fi characters in history of Russian cinema.
I was reminded very strongly of classic Dr who with those flash light guns with no lasers coming out.
You know, at this point, I don’t even feel like I’m watching Turkish Star Wars anymore.
I feel like I’m watching TURKISH Turkish Star Wars!
there should be a dvd box titled "star wars ripoffs"
lol It'd be too big to sell.
I'd buy that for a Dollar!
I was honestly waiting for a bit about one of the robots raising their sword and going, 'By the Power of Grayskull'.
Funny, though they remind me more of Prince Valium from Spaceballs.
"What is going on?" should be the motto of this movie.
could add the 4 non Blondes song to the soundtrack lol
Giving this a rewatch after your updated 200th episode edition "worst movies" list. Bums me out that this is one of your least-viewed reviews since it's so terrible and it was a struggle for you to get through it. Well, we appreciate you taking the bullet on this one so you can warn us all to steer clear of this shit! :)
The video is entertaining in itself too. Really deserves more.
7:51 So that's where The Force Awakens got the idea for Finn to be a living macguffin that knows all of the layout of the planet-sized Death Star.
While Turkish Doctor Who probably doesn't exist, the robots in War instantly reminded me of the DW android race the Movellans, who first appeared in the 1979 episode Destiny of the Daleks. Budget constraints meant that they were played by actors in white ski-suits and silver dreadlock wigs, doing stilted robotic voices, very similar to War. They were also armed with pink cone-shaped guns that lit up targets in the same sort of cheap effect. It's probably just a coincidence, as DW costume designer June Hudson never worked on European shows or films, but was renowned for making sf costumes on zero-budget (including for the classic Blake's 7, and the post-apocalypse show The Survivors).
The Movellans are the robots cooler cousins.
June Hudson never worked on european shows and films.... You know, except Doctor Who.
Would you believe that only ten years before this movie came out Antonio Sabato was nominated for a Golden Globe?
12:36 "Things look bad, but fortunately, John has a foolproof plan..." "Get 'em you guys!"
Missed opportunity for a Ghostbusters clip: "Get her?! That was your plan? GET HER?!"
Yesss! Thanks Brandon for putting in the hours for these videos wohooo! Eatin Pizza and watching this review; a certain kind of heaven mate. Thanks!!
I'd not heard of this one before, but Brescia definitely reused some of this footage for 'The Beast In Space'.
It may be bad, but at least the actors actually looked like they were trying. I've got to give them a little credit and hope they at least got a decent paycheck. Plus, four movies in a year? Damn. Although, they probably just shot it all at once and then parced about 2-2.5 movies worth of footage into four movies. I can imagine why everyone on set might have actually been confused abot the plot much of the time.
Italian Scifi is notable for spending more on costumes than writing or effects. Everyone is dressed in STYLE.
Yeah I agree. The women are always gorgeous
True. Lol
This movie is missing the Giant Space Sloth and in tune to Pumaman. That already sounds like a better movie.
Puma man he flies like a moron
I think this is the first of Brandon's reviews that I've actually seen the movie. Saw this on an old sci-fi bundle DVD box.
I'll always remember Antonio Sabato as the man with the amazing laugh from Escape from the Bronx, Toblerone!
Seriously? Not a word about how Death Machines is in that box set too?
5:24 Someone make a 10 hour version of this NOW!
Puma Man he flies like a moron
not quite ten hours but go lookup The Puma Man where that scene (with a different character) and *exact* soundtrack is used about two dozen times
I didn't see the whole title on my phone and I thought is said war of the gargantuans
Robert Dunakin Go look at Alexthehunted's channel. He's already done a let's watch of War of the Gargantuas and is working on completing the review.
Even though Gojifan1993 will come and stop him from reviewing it
Rex, your profile looks like a tomas the train engine on meth.
Pu-ma-man he flies like a moron!
Gallen Dugall that part just killed me :D
The fat free yogurt that's not short on flavor!
Help! I'm falling at a sixty degree angle and breaking the laws of physiiiiiiics...
Puma man isn’t much of a hero, is he?
No Tom, no he isn’t.
@@ickyelf9472 and all the flavor of bacon you want in a dip!
Another awesome, entertaining review! Brandon, you're the best at bringing out the humor in these shows. Great job.
"When you want the flavor of bacon in a dip..."
Too obscure?
♫Snyder drugs, we're busting up prices!♫
The fat-free yogurt that's not short on flavor!
Puma Man he flies like a moron
If Turkish Doctor Who doesn't exist then it is our duty to rectify this oversight, time hop to Istanbul in 1981 and make it.I'll just get my version of the 4th Doctor's costume and pull along dog toy.
I would watch that.
The worst thing is that those invisible laserbeams are more realistic.
An old friend? Does he mean... Kenny?
Quite possibly. Whatever it is I'm sure there will be kaiju in it.
possibly kenny from godzilla's revenge😱
wstine79 nope slug
I legitimately love the Pewmaman theme
Since there’s a General Gonads it must be a nock off of Space Balls 😂😂
Love your reviews they make me laugh but I want more Toho films and when I mean Toho I mean Godzilla
Still better than Disney Star Wars.
6:58 I always wanted a crappy version of the MadTV Spy vs. Spy theme to play over a crappy action scene.
2 new episodes in a week as opposed to one? that's quite impressive for ya Brandon. Nice to have War of the Robots to be featured here. I wonder what you'll think of Laserblast when that time comes. ^^
I like how they can knock out a robot with a normal punch that had give a human a black eye as most.
I have this odd fascination with old low budget Sci-fi flicks, I kind of got into it when I was playing Mass Effect 2, it gets even weirder when you take a look at the Soviet ones, stuff that was unknown to the west for a decades.
I wish this was still a thing, nowadays true Sci-fi seems to be all but dead, I guess you got Star Wars but thats more a space fantasy. I guess I should have give Valerian a shot since it bombed so hard.
Hell, even stuff like Alien ripoffs had their own charm.
ShadowsHeat My thoughts exactly. We all need more sci-fi in our lives. I would love to see a series in a style similar to the old star trek series mainly NG and TOS, Voyager is cool two. Another ideas would be an alien invasion series a la XCom, x-files or Ufo with a morally Gray tone which dosnt demonize the investors or how about the story of the first colonisation of mars in a style similar to the Martian.
As I said we need more sci fi, so get on it Netflix!!!
Netflix would be the perfect place for this stuff to thrive, since they are willing to take more chance. I mean, everyone else passed on Stranger Things but them, I think they would be ones to produce a cool space series/movie. Hopefully they go for a retro look, perhaps even inspired by Sid Mead and the like.
I have seen Valerian.
I would watch it again. And again.
I don't get it... Why "it gets even weirder" with the Soviet ones?
They're great and influential films.
Actually this is one of a set of sci-fi movies from my childhood (79-81 period) that I watch every Christmas with the folks and it also includes 'Starcrash' 'Shape of things to come' 'Battle beyond the stars' and several other B flicks. Really nice to see them getting more coverage so people at least know what I'm talking about when I mention them. Sure, they're cheap and cheerful but all have heart and passion in them, especially the Italian ones. (and I'm not just saying that because I'm Italian and so biased) Gotta keep watching to see if you do any other of my 'guilty pleasure treasures' in the future..
What's actually ironic is that it would've been harder to fake the moon landing than to actually do it lol.
I love the page bots! Fabulous wigs, and the biggest name in the credits!
When....You Want....the Taste of Bacon in a DIP....
PUMAMAN jingle
Guess the Blonde Robot wigs were on a clearance sale, cheaper than making helmets out of aluminum foil or something.
The laser/ rayguns bolts not being seen in clear air/daylight , is more realistic. We could only see our tank laser rangefinder lazes at night/low light.
"Planet plot convenience"!!! LMFAO!!! HAHAHAHAHA
In regards to the space walk scenes, I was singing MST3K's Pumaman theme song before it was added.
She tried to kill him with a forklift! Olé!
As usual, playing the Pumaman theme makes any scene funnier
And this went on to be the worst film he's done
God, even the review couldn't keep me awake through this!
Huh, two reviews in a week?
I was always wondering why the robots wear the same haircut like the random crew girls, perhaps they are some kind of infiltration unit to blend in with the earth population or I am overthinking this movie?
Holy shit, the "Destiny" game got its plot progression from this; ie they don't have the time to explain anything.
Those "robots" have literally the ugliest hairstyle that it's possible to ever have.
Bowl cuts ... In SPACE!
He should sometime do a review of the 1985 Fright Night.
To the movie's credit, i have a thing for chicks with boyish Short hair
Who was that short haired woman? I'm intrigued.
Amen
Gross.
Just check to make sure shes a short haired woman and not a teenage boy first. That's a mistake you really only get to make once
I also have a bit of a thing for girls with short hair, especially if they have a tomboyish look
Brandon, I've enjoyed all of these so much! Please do Lucio Fulci's Conquest (1983)!
Old Friend? Are you talking about Gamera? :D also, ha, General Gonad. that's rich.
I remember watching this younger, i had that same box set along with a bunch others, I’m a huge cinephile, I love your channel and your content, earned a strong subscriber
i totally heard General Gonad.
7:29 totally missed a David Bowie joke, I'm disappointed... :P
this one had me rolling XD
It's not even Tuesday yet!
Riley Morris And that's not a bad thing. :)
But that means the wait for the next review will be longer. 11 days instead of 7. DX
I wonder what that means, maybe something special?
Canada celebrates Laborday as well.
Somehow I grew up watching these Italian Sci-Fi 'Classics' on late night television and even then as a kid I couldn't begin to suspend my disbelief. I sometimes want to collect them all, develop an enhanced interrogation program and then sell it to anti-terrorism programs around the world. Just five minutes of one of these 'gems' and the enemy will be begging them to stop and will tell them the whole truth and even give up the location of the rebel base and their leader, General Gonad.
Characters shoud be at least saying "pew pew" during shooting.
The space battles remind me of a really REALLY lame session of D&D only without dice rolling. "I'm attacking!"
"When you want the flavor of bacon in a dip."
I wasn’t looking at the video when “General Gonad” was mentioned, so I HAD to go back and watch it. Brandon caught it!
I remember watching this so many times as a child trying to like it. Now, when I play my drums or even just beat my knuckles on a desk, there’s a snare beat from this movie that I can’t not play. Fucking ingrained in my head. Like the egg timer baby thing George Michael had in Arrested Development lol
RIP Antonio Sabàto
Antonio Sabato was also Nino Barlini in the movie " Grand Prix" which is awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Brandon, I think you would be happy to know that an ad for It played before this review. Have you ever thought of doing a vlog for current movies like the one you did for The Force Awakens? I would like to know your thoughts on It.
It's pumaman
This is good brandon atleast 2 weeks review per week.. keep it up
5:19 🎶 “When... you want... the flavor of bacon... in a dip” 🎵
I saw this one night on our local college channel and thought I had been slipped magic mushrooms.. Even sober, it's a trip!
Please do Cosmos War of the Planetssss
Old friend? ... You mean Godzilla?:D
Keep 'em coming. Every single one is hilarious.
I kind of think that Adam Power is based on the main character of this movie.
5:27 - That's amazing how did a film from 40yrs ago manage to get Sandra Bullock Gravity clips in it!! Impressed!! :D
Giant game of Simon FTW.
Antonio Sabato was the great Toblerone in Escape 2000.
Still better than Star Wars The Last Jedi.
Please do The Day Time Ended. I saw it on that box set you held up. That movie is crazy and strangely haunting.
Fun fact: The Soviet 1984 sci-fi mini-series "Guest from the future" (Гостья из будущего), adapted from Kir Bulychev's 1977 novel "One hundred years hereafter", features a robot called Verter, who looks exactly like the evil robots in this film. That is, he wears a silver outfit and a blond mop-shaped wig. However, Verter is actually a good guy and gets destroyed by the evil space pirates.
"an old friend" If it's not a Godzilla movie I'm going to cry!
The expression on the guy's face at 7:50 is the same one I have when I'm trying to figure out the plot of just about every Italian SF movie I've ever seen. There's so much WTFery with them.
Wait, did Betrayarella say "General Gonad" at around the 14:00 mark?!? I can't be the only one who heard that.
I'm pretty sure Lucas laughed at this movie then decided it was pointless to sue.
And here's hoping you can review the star wars Christmas special somehow.
As of right now, Brandon considers this to be the worst movie he ever reviewed. Thought Things would take that title but...
Thanks for the Pumaman moment ! :)
Pleather jumpsuits, long plastic desks with blinky light arrays and wheeled office chairs. They must be in...spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!
I wonder if the movie was made by American International or not, because it was a low budget B-movie, and also the first “Star Wars” rip-off following the heals of “Star Wars: A New Hope”. This is why AIP should’ve got the rights to distributed this movie. AIP was a long-gone Studio where they put out low budget horror flicks back in the 1950’s and 1960’s as well as the 1970’s where they also made a variety of hit or miss films like “Mad Max”, “Meteor”, “The Incredible Melting Man” and “The Amityville Horror”.
Lmao the PumaMan music 😂😂😂😂
"If we maintain this velocity we'll catch up....?" So this is just a vastly superior Last Jedi 40 yrs earlier?
The 1st time I saw this, I also said they're getting attacked by a game of simon, lmfao
The director needs to be kicked in his general gonad.
Had you posted this earlier, I can guarantee this would have gotten far more likes. That was a good one! XD
1:43 Straight out of the SoulCalibur Nightmare school of punching people while holding a fucking sword.
Gettin an ad for a robot manufacturing company to this is... ironic? Creepy? Suffered through it for you sir.
Very funny episode! Puma Man rules!
was that Pumaman music?
Weird that Hollywood hasn't tried a modern Prince Valiant movie, yet?
Why should they? King Arthur is public domain and allows for brand recognition... at least they think so.
3:14 my God it's like a blonde prince farquade
