This is an outstanding instructional video - the way they should all be, clear, complete, and concise. I checked out some others for this job, and they weren't even close. Thank you, Sue.
Thank you a lot for this video explaining the procedure for removing the parts. I just finished replacing both rear tailgate hatch strong arms VOLVO 8643038 Stabilus BUT ... It was not so easy and required 2 persons, 1 to hold the tail gate up in the proper position to help for safe removal and installation. It was not possible for me to put the pins properly at the end forward (at the thinest end), and the way I found was removing the 2 nuts that fix the plate to the roof (13mm tool) and done easy. This procedure is the one used for removal in other models Volvo V70 before year 2000. After that I tested the tailgate and is working brilliant!!! I put back all the panels and `pieces and I am very happy of the results. Thanks 1A Auto very much indeed for your instructions and video.
Great video. Sue was clear & concise. Replacement went exactly as described. Thank You for saving me a $$$ trip to the dealer. 1st time I removed the inside trim. Your instructions made it less stressful.
Very good instructions. Normally I cuss out engineers who design this stuff, but I give credit to the Volvo engineers who put this together. 5 fasteners, plus a bunch of pop in clips and the struts are right there in the open. I cracked the side piece where the speaker goes, so be careful pulling them out. It would have taken me less time, but I got a leg cramp.
I just replaced hatch struts on my daughters Ford Focus wagon. The shocks were completely on the outside and took 5 minutes...no removing lamps, bolts or trim. I realize the V70 is considered more of a luxury vehicle so they decided to conceal the struts but really, would anyone care if they were visible? This was likely a move to drive more work into their service dept.
Very helpful. Your clear explanations and video demonstration made this project a breeze. Thank you! Only issue I had was when I went to order the part from 1A Auto, it was not in stock.
You give me confidence to make the repair myself. Very well explain, without crazy music, and precision. It's look so easy. Thank you to share with us.
Thank you, awesome video, Sue does a great job! I was unable to attach the front joint of the new support with the rear attached. However by removing the rear joint and attaching the front first and then the rear worked perfect on my 07 XC70!
Vey helpful, thank you. I was dreading to do that even I had parts already but stoplight bulb burned out and I had to disassemble the rear lol. When I realized how much work it takes I went back and bought all bulbs to replace them all at once :) Then I remembered about struts and replaced those too.
One question what does it mean if the tailgate literally just flies open with a speed too fast? Does it mean it needs replacement as well? I also have a v70 from 2003
+Alexander S Thanks for checking us out! The strikes may need to be adjusted or there could be an issue with the latch. You should not need to replace the entire tailgate. We suggest taking your vehicle to a nearby reputable shop to identify the cause. Thank you!
Watching this after I was trying to light up the wooden carpet pieces that go around the rear seat and the door fell down and hit my goddamn nose into the car angled gave me a bloody nose

@@stevemccooleq I wouldn't mind at seeing them but with Volvo, safety is priority. Perhaps they were concerned about children messing with them?

Very informative. Sue makes it look easy!
Broke several interior pieces due to this tutorial...
Watching this makes me glad I have a 245 and not at V70!
Is the orientation of the pistons critical?
Just FYI, 2007 V70 uses an 8 mm rather than 10 mm socket. Everything else was perfect. Thanks
Great instructions! Easy to follow.
Thx for all your Volvo videos :D You guys helped me alot of times 😅👍
Thanks so much for making this video!! I made one too after following your instructions!! 💖
Thank you, helped me a lot!
Excellent instructions. Thank you.
Sue is my hero
Thanks great diy video worked perfectly.
Folks, you might want to also tie the hatch up with a line running to the front. It the wooden prop fails it will hurt!
Thanks Sue!
من فضلك كم طول المساعد؟؟
Volvo v70 model 2007

Perfect👍👍
did you show the finished job? :(

DO NOT REMOVE BOTH AT ONCE… even with a post… I think I just broke both my shins
Maybe don't have a phone ringing in the background.
Your price for these shocks is 3 times the price elsewhere. Waw....amazing rip off.
+baba mama Thanks for the feedback. We do offer a lifetime warranty on our parts.
@@1AAuto So do many other places at 1/3 to 1/2 your price. I can buy 4 sets on ebay for what you are asking for one set.
Heh heh, dry rot plastic go crack!
Thank you !!
