  • Two POTA activations on October 1, 2024 - Griffin Ridge Wildlife Management Area (US-3752) and Morgan Lake Wildlife Management Area (US-9791). Teri KO4WFP also discusses the pros and cons of activating wildlife management areas in the state of Georgia. There are pile-ups at the beginning of the activation so you can hear how Teri works through them. For QSO maps, see my article on QRPer.com.

    Watching you making progress in telegraphy gives me strength and faith that I'll be able to learn working CW too.❤

      Every CW op begins at ground zero since no one is born inherently knowing the code (as far as I know). So yes, Karol, you CAN learn CW. The ops who are most successful are determined and a little bit fearless. The difficult part is learning it is okay if you make mistakes. And it really is because every CW op has made mistakes on their journey of learning the code. Thanks for your comment and keep having fun with CW!

    Calm, cool, and collected during those pile ups...not fazed a bit. A lesson to learn. 73 de KJ4MZ

      I wasn't that way during my first few CW-only POTA activations, Don. But the only way to learn how to manage pile-ups is to get on the air and get through them. What also helped me learn how to deal with pile-ups was being K3Y/4 op during SKCC's K3Y event in January. The more on-the-air experience we have, the better our CW and on-the-air skills grow. Thanks for your comment.

      Here is the link for the kneeboard. I use it at nearly every activation because I find my Helinox chair and it a better and more comfortable setup. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. Thank you for your compliment. tufteln.com/products/knee-board-field-desk

    thanks for the video! Could you consider showing the antenna setup portion of your videos? Always interested in those. I do have the MC-750. Really like it as a POTA antenna. 73 de AD0AA

    • @potababe
      @potababe  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't done that much as I wasn't sure there would sufficient interest in seeing my antenna setup. Also, I want to keep the videos from being too lengthy. However, I will consider doing that in some future videos. Though I am mostly a wire antenna kind of gal, I agree that the Chelegance MC-750 is a good POTA antenna. It certainly worked well for these two activations. Thanks for your comment, Russ.

    Was beginning to worry about Daisy until she finally rolled over! 😂 I judge GA WMA's by the number of insect bites I get. The fewer the bites the higher it's rating! 😁 But many do offer a quietness and solitude not found in developed parks. We use the same rig and touch paddle! N4NN

    • @potababe
      @potababe  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is an interesting criteria for WMAs - insect bites. If that is the case, Griffin Ridge had a good rating as the insects mostly left me alone. Three ants did take it upon themselves to crawl up my shoe and bite me on the ankle during the activation. That is fire ants for ya. I agree with your comment about the quietness and solitude. The WMAs have become one of my favorite places to activate in Georgia. Thanks for your comment, Allen.

      @@potababe yes Terry , electronic keyer make tings simple and easy. Mehanical bug is big chalenge.
      I prefere straight key and electronic keyer(no iambic).
      I never try bug. I hope so one day.

    What kind of sun shade are you using?

    • @potababe
      @potababe  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used a Mountain Laurel Designs tent - the Trailstar. I purchased it because when hiking (for SOTA), one should have shelter with them in case of an emergency. The tent is ultra lightweight. I am sure there are tarps that would be less expensive, but I try to make good use of what equipment I have. Their website, in case you are interested, for the tent is mountainlaureldesigns.com/product/trailstar/
