Yes, Cesar was looking so seductive at the beginning - and then on the words about 'eyes' suddenly turned into a quiet threat! And ELI!!!! those rock screams!!! And giving off vibes of protective menace. You really had the feeling (at the end especially) that he didn't want to fight, but push him and he would do whatever to protect his friends and kin. I was most surprised by Anthony. What we had seen of him so far did not warn us he could be so 'rock'. Then the beat & rhythm.... Layne was really pushing it. So driving and yet really varied! And Geoff's bass line - not just the Dmms sounding literally 'plucked' but also that slight 'drone' indicating electric bass over stand-up. I'm sure we've heard it before, but not so isolated on its own. Plus - loved the "Hounds of Hell"

The three videos are united by their similar locations, costuming and makeup, but there isn’t any story line running through. Some people have made up stories and spread them, but VoicePlay didn’t have anything in mind other than providing a dramatic background for those songs. And I hope they do more in the future because it’s a good look/feel for their music. One last thing: if you are a Patreon member of theirs, I highly recommend the BTS for this. I hope you feel better soon! Yes, Warriors and Dream On were both post-apocalyptic, with the zombie hordes just out of camera range while the guys sang to save themselves. Between the first two, both Earl and J. None were lost to the zombies, and they picked up Cesar and Omar along the way. However, by this time, they've become the bad guys, so we're not 100% sure what happened to Omar... 😜 Regarding Cesar making it sexy, they were shooting in an abandoned property and there was the possibility they could be arrested for it. Cesar said it would be all right because he would be "jail Beyonce." And yes, many of the sort of techno sounds you're hearing are based on distorted vocals.

Several VP numbers have incredible runs (e.g., Rich Man, Dream On, Grinch, ...), but Tennessee Whiskey is particularly noted for runs especially. And on the one hand, yes, VP does keep getting better; but on the other hand, Phantom was amazing, and they did that way back when Tony was still with them.

Fun fact, i often don't look at who did the arrangement and can still tell who's responsible. I can tell because Geoff doesn't give Layne lyrics most of the time, while Layne does give himself lyrics almost every time.

There's a lot of Disney given they live in the shadow of the House of Mouse, but their catalogue is wide and deep enough there's a song for whatever mood you're in or want to be in. Geoff did an amazing job arranging this. I think he's holding the same sledgehammer that he borrowed from his dad for 16 Tons and Big Bad John. Eli looks legit scary. Anthony looks like the sweet young man in Golden Hour and Just Sing has been adopted by marauders. Love Cesar's centerfold pose for Zombie Apocalypse Monthly. After filming two videos in a row where there was no functioning a/c, I wouldn't be surprised if they shoot the next one in a meat locker or ice-skating rink. You're going to love Layne and J.None in Warriors, the first chapter in VoicePlay's apocalypse trilogy! All the guys are great, but those two show us something we hadn't seen before up to that point.

I wouldm't say it's really a trilogy, it's just three videos with a post apocalytic appearance. Warriors was the first they did of the three, and they regarded Dream On as a follow up. Whether they intended this as part three, I don't know. It's my opinion that this is the sexiest that Geoff has looked so far. He's clearly aging like a fine wine. :) I also believe that some post production is going on. One reactor dared to suggest that they were using instruments at that point. Another one remarked that Geoff was clearly being played through a keyboard in I Can't Make You Love Me. Sacrilege!
Definitely some postprod on the beatboxing, and it sure sounds to me like there's a daw-produced harmony line where no one vocalizes it, but it is brilliantly done. I love it so much. And totally agree that Geoff improves with age. :)

A little bit of post prod once in awhile to take out air and enhance a bass sound is one thing. And they do that in many of their songs. And making the sounds more electronic sounding in order to fit a genre is another thing and they do that in songs like this one. But like you I do not know why they would say an entire bass line is electronically produced in what was clearly one of the less processed songs. Technology has just made people really skeptical. They need to listen to his raw shorts. He can totally do the bass we hear.

You're correct with the added edits. But, not sure if you knew but Geoff can beat box too. Geoff is the one who actually taught Layne how to beatbox, he just perfected it. Before he did beat boxing, Layne played violin.

I hope you feel better soon! Yes, Warriors and Dream On were both post-apocalyptic, with the zombie hordes just out of camera range while the guys sang to save themselves. Between the first two, both Earl and J. None were lost to the zombies, and they picked up Cesar and Omar along the way. However, by this time, they've become the bad guys, so we're not 100% sure what happened to Omar... 😜 Regarding Cesar making it sexy, they were shooting in an abandoned property and there was the possibility they could be arrested for it. Cesar said it would be all right because he would be "jail Beyonce." And yes, many of the sort of techno sounds you're hearing are based on distorted vocals.

And on the one hand, yes, VP does keep getting better; but on the other hand, Phantom was amazing, and they did that way back when Tony was still with them.

Personally, Nothing Else Matters is still my fav voiceplay cover, but i love layne just popping off in this one.
Fun fact, i often don't look at who did the arrangement and can still tell who's responsible. I can tell because Geoff doesn't give Layne lyrics most of the time, while Layne does give himself lyrics almost every time.

Hope you feel better soon! The advantage to being totally independent --- no record label, no manager or producer -- is that they can cover whatever songs they want. There's a lot of Disney given they live in the shadow of the House of Mouse, but their catalogue is wide and deep enough there's a song for whatever mood you're in or want to be in.
Geoff did an amazing job arranging this. I think he's holding the same sledgehammer that he borrowed from his dad for 16 Tons and Big Bad John. Eli looks legit scary. Anthony looks like the sweet young man in Golden Hour and Just Sing has been adopted by marauders. Love Cesar's centerfold pose for Zombie Apocalypse Monthly. After filming two videos in a row where there was no functioning a/c, I wouldn't be surprised if they shoot the next one in a meat locker or ice-skating rink.
You're going to love Layne and J.None in Warriors, the first chapter in VoicePlay's apocalypse trilogy! All the guys are great, but those two show us something we hadn't seen before up to that point.

I just listened to a very different take on this song, don't think the music and lyrics match at all but the woman has a crazy, sultry lounge singer voice used to produce a New Orleans Jazz feel. I wouldm't say it's really a trilogy, it's just three videos with a post apocalytic appearance. Warriors was the first they did of the three, and they regarded Dream On as a follow up. Whether they intended this as part three, I don't know. It's my opinion that this is the sexiest that Geoff has looked so far. He's clearly aging like a fine wine. :) I also believe that some post production is going on. One reactor dared to suggest that they were using instruments at that point. Another one remarked that Geoff was clearly being played through a keyboard in I Can't Make You Love Me. Sacrilege!
Definitely some postprod on the beatboxing, and it sure sounds to me like there's a daw-produced harmony line where no one vocalizes it, but it is brilliantly done. I love it so much. And totally agree that Geoff improves with age. :)

@@toddmaliepaard9777 I haven't seen that reaction but having seen the video I don't know why they would say such a thing. A little bit of post prod once in awhile to take out air and enhance a bass sound is one thing. And they do that in many of their songs. And making the sounds more electronic sounding in order to fit a genre is another thing and they do that in songs like this one. But like you I do not know why they would say an entire bass line is electronically produced in what was clearly one of the less processed songs. Technology has just made people really skeptical. They need to listen to his raw shorts. He can totally do the bass we hear.
