They are criticized way to much! They are the reason i got into the indie genre. They are really down to earth as well. I met matthew and george in London, just bumped into them on the tube. Great guys, very kind. I never even knew about them, and after they said they were in this band, i listened to them, and loved there music ever since.

I know it’s simplistic & likely an obvious ambiguity… but I just love the lines, “Does he take care of you? Or could I easily fill his shoes?” / “But you say no. You say no”- as I love that it’s unclear to which question she answers no &, dependent on which, the meaning flips entirely. If she answers “no” to the first question “does he take care of you?” then there is evidently something lacking in the relationship (at least for her) so that she feels unfulfilled, without desire, disconnected- but if she answers “no” to the second “or could I easily fill his shoes?” then she does feel a special way towards her boyfriend, even though her feelings are unclear to an extent, some sort of hesitation & longing, as she’s definitely feeling some sort of way towards the narrator (the singer, Matty Healy) too. It has a sweet ambiguity, although at first it seems to cast out all hope for the narrator & girl being together, in whatever immoral manner that’s romanticized, as we assume “no” answers the last question, conveying that she’s not willing to replace her boyfriend or, at least, she still feels a connection with him, sees value in their relationship to some degree- yet there is a flicker of hope once you realize the ambiguity that he may get her, for real, that is if he still wants her once he’s got her & as long as she breaks up with her boyfriend (well that part is hopefully).. Oh &… most unfortunately & even more so, you could take note of the fact that she repeats “no” twice- & that would mean her feelings are undoubtedly confused & angsty, torn between remaining adoration (perhaps even love) for her boyfriend & yet she feels unsure in some manner in the relationship, conveyed by her desire for the narrator (singer), a desire lacking & thereby for which she longs. Maybe she’s indeed fully in love with her boyfriend - imagining a future with him, with a house, dog, & children - but Matt’s Healy is just too irresistible- be it any other man, she’d faithfully turn away & leave if any advances were made on her, a plan she was sure she follow without even thinking about it, yet when she met *him* she saw he was sculpted like an ego Michelangelo angel, his face that of a disheveled Roman dissidents of the empire; his voice like a spell that bound her to him… forever! lol I’m sorry I know the last was stupid - not even so bad that it’s good stupid - just plain stupid & boring. & then Matty - indeed like a magician - pulled out of nowhere a sad sappy story about how the last part (the “irresistible” portion lol) was made up by a chronically ill child who Matty visits in the hospital (is any of this true? The answer is the same as hers in the lyrics I included- “no” - not a surprise, well in my opinion as that’s how I see it going. Anyway, tangents. Superfluous specification. Grammatical intervention. Whatever this inane babbling that isn’t even up to par to the already pathetic pseudo-intellectuals. But yes, I like those lines & the sweet ambiguity.

I love them so much. I love their songs and the people who they are. Their songs about drugs to sex to being horny, to being cheated on, cheating on, doing of uncivil things, falling in love, making out, hooking up, flirting, disbelief of god, getting high and to almost being in love is so relate able to people from all walks of life. They are perfect. They have sung about the most realistic aspects of life. Their music has helped me so much. They are gonna be hugeee :D get ready everyone!

They are criticized way to much! They are the reason i got into the indie genre. They are really down to earth as well. I met matthew and george in London, just bumped into them on the tube. Great guys, very kind. I never even knew about them, and after they said they were in this band, i listened to them, and loved there music ever since.

Facts!
I know it’s simplistic & likely an obvious ambiguity… but I just love the lines, “Does he take care of you? Or could I easily fill his shoes?” / “But you say no. You say no”- as I love that it’s unclear to which question she answers no &, dependent on which, the meaning flips entirely. If she answers “no” to the first question “does he take care of you?” then there is evidently something lacking in the relationship (at least for her) so that she feels unfulfilled, without desire, disconnected- but if she answers “no” to the second “or could I easily fill his shoes?” then she does feel a special way towards her boyfriend, even though her feelings are unclear to an extent, some sort of hesitation & longing, as she’s definitely feeling some sort of way towards the narrator (the singer, Matty Healy) too. It has a sweet ambiguity, although at first it seems to cast out all hope for the narrator & girl being together, in whatever immoral manner that’s romanticized, as we assume “no” answers the last question, conveying that she’s not willing to replace her boyfriend or, at least, she still feels a connection with him, sees value in their relationship to some degree- yet there is a flicker of hope once you realize the ambiguity that he may get her, for real, that is if he still wants her once he’s got her & as long as she breaks up with her boyfriend (well that part is hopefully).. Oh &… most unfortunately & even more so, you could take note of the fact that she repeats “no” twice- & that would mean her feelings are undoubtedly confused & angsty, torn between remaining adoration (perhaps even love) for her boyfriend & yet she feels unsure in some manner in the relationship, conveyed by her desire for the narrator (singer), a desire lacking & thereby for which she longs. Maybe she’s indeed fully in love with her boyfriend - imagining a future with him, with a house, dog, & children - but Matt’s Healy is just too irresistible- be it any other man, she’d faithfully turn away & leave if any advances were made on her, a plan she was sure she follow without even thinking about it, yet when she met *him* she saw he was sculpted like an ego Michelangelo angel, his face that of a disheveled Roman dissidents of the empire; his voice like a spell that bound her to him… forever! lol I’m sorry I know the last was stupid - not even so bad that it’s good stupid - just plain stupid & boring. & then Matty - indeed like a magician - pulled out of nowhere a sad sappy story about how the last part (the “irresistible” portion lol) was made up by a chronically ill child who Matty visits in the hospital (is any of this true? The answer is the same as hers in the lyrics I included- “no” - not a surprise, well in my opinion as that’s how I see it going. Anyway, tangents. Superfluous specification. Grammatical intervention. Whatever this inane babbling that isn’t even up to par to the already pathetic pseudo-intellectuals. But yes, I like those lines & the sweet ambiguity.

Are you saying we should be listening to Taylor Swift and OneRebublic (I have nothing against OneRebublic, actually, they put out a great message.) rather than music that affects our emotions, makes us think, inspires us, speaks our emotions for us? Many, many songs have helped me through the toughest of times that I've been through, even though they were negative and potentially "inappropriate" songs because they had swearwords or talked about fighting or war. (Not to mention, the songs that actually sing about sex ((example: About all hip hop songs and/or top 40 songs with rappers and Katy Perry, blah blah blah, etc)) are even more popular with the younger ones than this band, and let me tell ya, it's obvious which is polluting the children's minds more). How about you just dictate what I should listen to, huh? Obviously this band isn't directly talking about sex in this song, it has a deeper meaning. If a 13 year old can understand that by simply listening to the song, then I'd say it's sure as hell appropriate for them.
Enough with the young stereotypes, please.

They know that sex causes pregnancy and STDs, they know that disagreements between countries may cause war, they know that violence causes punishment and perhaps jail time, drugs cause horrendous things like death... And a great majority of us have indeed started puberty. Hell, The great majority of children in my class started in fifth grade.
And yes, every 13 year old has a different state of mind. Every single human being has a different state of mind and perspective on this world, no matter what their age is. All humans are entirely different, complex creatures. What I'm saying it that some 13 years olds understand what's good for them and what's bad for them. Some 27 year olds don't know what's good and bad for them, others do. Some 44 year olds don't know what's good and bad for them, others do. 60, 70, 80, 90, etc. Now, perhaps, unless the world ends or we all kill one another before surviving the consciousness shift, one day there will be a time when people are assessed by how "mature" they are or how much they understand the world.. Perhaps, then, 18 will no longer be the age that everyone has full freedom. Of course, many, many people abuse this freedom. Hence they are not mature enough.
Now I'm ranting.
