Yes it will work. The 633 will probably be more stable for guys under 6' but when you need it to be higher, you have to raise the center column higher than you would on the Slik 634, which depletes the stability. So if I were you, I'd go with the Slik 634, where you won't have to raise the column up as far.
We have used the Leofoto BV-1. It is very comparable to the VA-5. A little lighter and costs a little less. Its a great head. The BV-5 is a little on the heavy side for its performance when comparing it to the VA-5.

Sorry, as primarily bowhunters, that is just not our focus. We have had some luck with the Vortex Radian tripods, but im sure there are other options available.

I would say no. Not as a mount. Would work ok as a rest though..
