2 types of chewing gum are sold in Pharmacies. Nicotine and Dental Gum. the sales of other type of gum are banned. But you can bring in a small amount for personal consumption. We regularly buy them from Malaysia (Johor) for our own consumption. Passed Customs without any issues.

The ban started because ppl was sticking used gums on the train doors and causing the doors to get stuck and the train stalled.. and ppl stuck gums under the train seats and etc.. so the govt decided to just ban it, because the cons is bigger than the joy of chewing it.

No way I would punish myself with any flight over 12 hours. I usually fly New York > LA > Honolulu > Wherever in Asia I want to visit. Either that or New York > London > Vienna/Munich/Stockholm > Asia or London > Dubai > Asia.
All of Southeast / East Asia is safe. It's not like you go to Thailand or Philippines or Indonesia and your life is suddenly in danger compared to Singapore. Also, all of east Asia like China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan are even cleaner and "safer" than Singapore per capita. In general no foreigner is going to be robbed, assaulted, raped or murdered in Southeast or East Asia. It's just not part of the culture there. Buddhism instills a lot of discipline and karma into people there.
So far the 3 Asian countries I have visited are low crime. Out of all the continents I’ve visited I would say Asia has the lowest crime rate and is the safest continent. Thanks for the comment

Thanks for this video. I would really suggest you to travel to more countries here in SE Asia, so you can make a more informed comparison. Not saying your conclusions are incorrect, but just Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore is a small part of (SE) Asia. Personally (being married to a Singaporean and having lived there for more than a decade), I think Singapore is overrated, especially the part of ‘safety’ and ‘fines’. Honestly, there are very few people being actually fined for eating durian in the MRT / smoking in public areas / jaywalking etc etc. It’s more of a gimmick. As for safety, Asia overall is very safe, when being compared to other parts of the world, like USA, Latin America or Europe and Africa. Not just Singapore. I live in Kuala Lumpur and also hold a property in Bangkok and nowhere ever did I feel unsafe or threatened.
