As a Cambodian living in France, I feel sad that many Cambodians have adopted Thai culture and Thai national costume. I feel ashamed for what they have done. Actually, we have our own national costume called Sampot, But the Hun Manet's government never promotes it and allows the Cambodians to wear Thai national costume. These days, the Cambodians forget their own identity. We are losing our own roots.

What Cambodia needs is Cambodians who escaped the Khmer Rouge to live abroad to return and teach the lost chapters of Cambodian history back to Cambodia. Problem with the current situation is Cambodians are trying to fill those lost chapters of history that were erased by the Khmer Rouge with Thai stuff but claiming them as Cambodian in a weird nationalistic fervor using only vague Angkor Wat carvings and dubious interpretations of them as "proof".

It can be said that everything that has been mentioned is created and invented by Thai people, and has become popular all over the world, such as Thai boxing, beautiful Thai costumes, Thai traditions, Thai music, Thai dance, Thai arts and culture, and Thai architecture and Thai food. The Khmer nation came later. The Khmer nation has only been a nation for 71 years, but Thailand has been a nation for thousands of years. Then the Khmer people like to use fake evidence to confirm that the Khmer are the original of everything in Thailand, which is to claim that it is of Khmers.
The Khmer people are very stupid. They do not feel ashamed of themselves because they cannot think of anything. It is not like the Thai people who invent and create many things. It is the wisdom of the Thai people that they have preserved and preserved for hundreds of years, passed down through many eras, since the Dvaravati, Khom, Mon, Lawa, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya and Rattanakosin eras. In ancient times, the Khmer were just a slave race.
Even when the Khmer submitted some items to UNESCO, they still did not accept what they submitted because the evidence was insufficient.
The Khmer DNA does not match the Thai people or the Lao or Burmese people in this Suvarnabhumi area. The DNA of the Khmer is the same as the Malays because the Khmers migrated from the Malay Peninsula.
At present, the Khmers want to build a nation, want to have their own position, want to have an identity, but do not have the brain to think of anything like the Thais. In addition, hundreds of thousands of Khmers have immigrated to work in Thailand, and most of them have come to be beggars and laborers in Thailand. Due to the war in Cambodia and the genocide during the Khmer Rouge era, almost all the knowledgeable Khmers in the country were killed, millions of people. The current Khmers are stupid because all the Khmers were killed. So, the Khmers do not know the origins of their own nation.
The reason why the Khmers want to build a nation and have a position on the world stage is to let people all over the world know where the Khmer country is on the world map because foreigners do not even know where the Khmer country is.
The worst thing that the Khmers can do is to copy everything from Thailand and claim it as their own by showing fake evidence on the walls of Angkor Wat. In fact, if you study history carefully, the Angkor Wat in Cambodia belongs to the ancient Thais, the Thai-KHOMs who built Angkor Wat. King Jayavarman VII was the ancient Thai-KHOM king, not the Khmer king. The Khmer Empire began to exist after Angkor Wat collapsed, and the Khmer established their first king, King Taeng Wan.
Before that, the Khmer were slaves of the Thai people and were under the colony or rule of Siam or present-day Thailand for more than 400 years. However, the Khmer people do not know the history of their own nation at all. They try to deceive themselves. The Khmer people are stupid. The Khmer education system does not develop the people in the nation because most Khmer people believe the history of the French that was rewritten to incite hatred of the Thai people. Agreed. Let me clarify based on archaeological evidences, 'khom' in Thai means lower area, south area, or low land, similar to 'karoṃ' in Khmer meaning of lower area. The context of use depends on the speaker; it refers to the speaker's southern territory. 'khom' in old Mon language, found in Manuha Inscription aged 11th century, refers to a lower area of Thaton Kingdom, namely the lower Chao Phraya river basin, e.g., the area of Lavo (Lopburi), Ayoja or Arawsa (Ayutthaya), and Nakhon Chaisri (Nakhon Pathom) etc., as said in the Burmese Royal Chronicle, Hmannan Maha Yazawindawgyi. Not only Manuha Inscription mentioned the lower Chao Phraya river but also Sukhothai Inscription (Wat Sri Chum) aged 14th century too.

As a Thai, I have never been a racist and I am always against discrimination. But about this hot issue, I feel that I have to protect my heritage. The history of my country can be traced back for many eras. There are so many evidences across the world that show Thailand is rich in culture.
On the other hand, Cambodia has its own history and culture. But after the famous Thai TV drama was aired, and Cambodia started to have the internet within their country, they have started to get obsessed with all our Thai heritage. From 2017 on, they started to refuse their roots and claim that they are the rightful owner of the Thai heritage. I’d like to ask- Can heritage and culture occur within less than 10 years? And there is an enormous amount of fund from the head state of their country to support this shameful behavior. Thanks for your video clip. Your content about this particular issue is 100% correct.. We, the Thai people, have enough dignity, never will claim anything that doesn’t belong to us.

The aftermath of Pol Pot's genocide created a significant problem. The art and culture that Cambodians had developed as part of their identity were eliminated. In the name of communist ideals, they even shot people who wore glasses, assuming they were wealthy and highly educated. What remained was a large population of working-class people with no artistic skills and who were not craftsmen.
Once the country became peaceful and food shortages ended, people sought to rediscover art and culture by turning to the ancient temple walls. However, they did not know how to proceed. They began taking photos and painting images from the bas-reliefs, comparing them to Thailand's culture, and claiming this as Cambodian culture. Additionally, they purchased products sold in Thailand and claimed ownership of cultural rights that had evolved through no fewer than three eras: the Middle Ages (era of stone castles), the Renaissance (Western Trade Era - marked by trade with the West), the Victorian era (colonization), and the two world wars.
it. Since the genocide ended, they have remained under a dictatorial system with a single leader, a situation that persists even today (although it is now his son in power, the father still controls his son's administration).
They ignored the historical transitions, as well as all historical developments, skipping everything straight to the 12th century and the present day, as if it were a story from last month and nothing had happened in between. It was as if the Romans were claiming the Eiffel Tower based on the fact that Caesar once conquered the region of Gaul.

During the French protectorate of Cambodia (1863-1953), Adhémard Leclère and George Groslier were the major Frenchmen who played a major role in changing Cambodian history. Their contemporary French paperwork during the 19th century contains many misrepresentations of Cambodian nationalism, one of which was the claiming of Thai-influenced culture as their own. The French also transmitted this nationalism to the Cambodian royal court, so you see many of the same ceremonies as in Thailand. You can read more in Hideo Sasagawa's research paper, Post/colonial Discourses on the Cambodian Court Dance (2005).

In the fact, Cambodians do not only claim Thai culture, but they claim the culture of all countries in mainland ASEAN, such as Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, or even Vietnam. Many times, their people have come out to post, proclaiming that this and that are theirs. They claim that the Lao musical instrument called "Khen" belongs to the Khmer. They once claimed that the puppets of the Burmese are also Khmer. The reason is because their history textbooks often teach that they were once great in the past, occupying all of Southeast Asia. But now, the reason they dare not claim the culture of Burma and Laos is simply because they need allies to fight against the cultural self-defense of the Thais.

The era of colonization and being a colony of France, most of the territory in Cambodia belonged to the Thai people before Thailand gave some of the territory to the Khmers.

The world saw that Cambodians never wore Thai clothes until 2019 when the popular TV series “Love Destiny” became very popular in Asia, especially in Cambodia. Cambodia has never had a Sabai sash in history, even on the walls of Angkor Wat, which they used to refer and claim. All the apsaras on the walls were bare-chested. The people of Central Siam or Thailand have lived in their region for thousand of years, and they have their own culture, way of life, and clothing to suit the climate and environment. Above all, Cambodia has been a colony of Siam (Thailand) for more than 426 years. Thai culture has been transmitted to Cambodia. Laos has also been a colony of Siam for 114 years, but Laos has never claimed or accused Thailand of stealing their culture, just like what Cambodia is doing, because Lao people know and accept it. Khmer Prime Minister, Hun Sen has brainwashed his citizens accusing that Thailand stole their culture. Cambodia says that Cambodia is the original in ASEAN. This kind of lacking Education, perspective & behavior make their country is poorly undeveloped.

Now compare wedding outfits of Thai and Cambodia from in 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s. Bet you can’t find any wedding of Thai with sbai can you lol? But Khmer weddings you can find multiple even you claimed it was all destroyed during the Khmer Rouge lol yet you don’t realize there was Khmer people living abroad already before the war. Of course people would remember what their culture is, even though there many deaths during that era but many people survived as well. You think you can fool the world with your logic then go ahead. @@wolo8107 Please accept “the truth that Thai dresses are not yours” People in your country are “Brain-washed” & mislead by Hun Sen. Referring 1900-1960? You know? People in this region have worn Sabai sash since Dhavaravati Era during A.D. 7-11 So stop referring 1900 or 1960 that was very late & nonsense. Dhavaravati -> Lavo -> Hariphunchai -> Sukhothai -> Ayudhaya. Khmer Kingdom had been destroyed for many hundred years before. Nothing have left to pass on existing only stone castle & stone wall. Sukhothai & Ayudhaya had created it own styles of art & culture which based from Buddhism. They were totally different from Khmer art. Actually You have your own root & culture like Apsara & Sompot dress, but you never support them because they were not beautiful. When you saw Thai dresses were so beautiful then you claim you were the origin of Thai dresses because Khmer Kingdom was born before any kingdom in this region. This is totally a poor logic. Apsara had never worn Thai Sabai dress in Ang Kor wat wall. You had stone castles but not glittering Temples. Those temples which were built in your country were the influences of Ayudhaya. Thai people had been wearing this Thai dress since A.D.7. Especially during Ayuthaya era roughly It was about 1,400 years ago. Go to see your Apsara they were bar-chested. So you’d better stop referring Khmer wedding dress too which just was born in 1900. It is so silly hilarious because Thai people have worn Thai dresses for more than 1,400 years until now. 😂

This happened because the Cambodian Prime Minister tried to spread fake news to deceive the Cambodian people and most importantly he forced the children to study only 2 hours a day. The reason is that Hun Sen did not want the people to be educated because if the people were educated, Hun Sen would not be able to be the Prime Minister.
The reason why Cambodia fought with Thailand about culture: This is the evil plan of the Cambodian Prime Minister. And now Cambodia is trying to change their own history. If you come to Cambodia and see Angkor Wat, you will find that Angkor Wat has been embellished until it is not the same. They destroyed Angkor Wat which is a Hindu religious site.
In fact, Cambodia started fighting with Thailand in 2000. This is the beginning of the plan of the Cambodian Prime Minister.
But Cambodia did not fight with Vietnam. The reason is that Hun Sen had a Vietnamese wife. And most importantly, he used to be one of the Khmer Rouge. He went to Vietnam to make an agreement. He promised to give Vietnam land and a lot of money. At the same time, Vietnam would help kill the educated people and other Khmer Rouge groups.
In fact, there are only 3 issues in this matter:
HunSen destroys Cambodian history and culture
HunSen encourages people to violate the intellectual property rights of Thai people. For example, the ancient Thai dress. Nowadays, many Cambodians copy the design of Thai clothes. This is not about culture. But Cambodians often claim that there is evidence, such as the sculptures at Angkor Wat. But they do not know the truth that this kind of dress is specific to the Tai ethnic group. I emphasize this again that it is specific to the Tai ethnic group. Tai ethnic group: They live in India, Burma, Malaysia, Siam, Laos, Vietnam and China. They dress similarly in almost all of them. The reason is that we are the same ethnic group and we are a very large ethnic group.
HunSen does not allow people to have knowledge, except for false history. Now, Cambodia has announced that India came from Cambodia. All culture comes from Cambodia. In short, HunSen encourages people to fight with India.

The era of colonization and being a colony of France, most of the territory in Cambodia belonged to the Thai people before Thailand gave some of the territory to the Khmers.

What you said is not wrong.
Thailand has been influenced by many foreign cultures. Thai food has been influenced by foreign cultures since ancient times. Thailand is an ancient port city. Many products and cultures have been imported, both from the West, India, and China. Originally, Thailand had food in the style of ancient Mon culture because the DNA of the original Thai people is ancient Mon. Therefore, our food is grilled, food in a clay pot. We received the culture of frying, using a pan, and food with noodles from China. Food with spices from India and the Malayu,Indo-Pacific . But we want you to understand one thing first.
Claiming that any food or culture came from oneself means filtering it until it becomes our own form, our own style. For example, if we say that Pad Thai is Thai food, but the use of the pan came from China, the noodles are from China. Why is it Thai food? Because the development of the food style , not everything that Thailand develop of. Which is different from saying that the noodles were invented by Thais from the beginning, not Chinese. The pan was invented by Thais, not Chinese. It was China copy thai. This is what is called wrong. Because we know that we received culture from China from noodles and pans.
On the other hand, if we look at us and our annoying neighbors, we have a clear history that we used to rule the Kingdom of Cambodia. And the person who revolutionized Cambodian culture to be similar to Thailand was the Cambodian king who grew up in Thailand and returned to rule Cambodia. Therefore, it is not strange that Cambodia has accepted Thai culture. If Cambodia said that we received this from Thailand in the past but we have improved it to be uniquely Cambodian, we would not have any problem. But what we found is that they said that everything was their prototype and criticized us for teaching them culture, saying that we are thieves. This is unacceptable.

@@someguyonyt2831 Therefore, we clearly show who we got it from. Thais have enough common sense to say that we got cultural influence from whom. We have clear written records, unlike our neighbors who imagine the pictures on the wall and believe words without any evidence. The latest evidence also found Thai language on the murals in the Khmer palace, which shows that the pictures were painted by Thai craftsmen. Thai architecture and patterns also have a clear identity, which is found in the murals and various records from both Thailand and abroad. But our neighbors will only claim that the war caused the records to disappear. Otherwise, they would have Olympic gold medals on the walls, Louis Vuitton flowers on the walls, and even dinosaurs on the walls. When there is no real evidence to confirm this, while the other side has clear evidence, the thief often claims that he lost the evidence. The current investigation, whether from the police who caught the thief or from archaeology, all refer to empirical evidence. So you can figure out for yourself who the thief is.

I think it’s odd how some Cambodian people truly hate on Thai people and make unfounded claims that we are culture vultures. It’s like- it’s a form of nationalism to blindly hate on us. I admit, the recent history of Cambodia is truly horrific and tragic, and maybe that is why they feel the need to do this. Hurt people hurt people. I will say that it grinds my gears how Cambodian netizens pick and choose who can have what culture. Laos and Thailand are super similar in culture, customs, cuisine, and language. Factor in the South of Vietnam, which was also a part of the Khmer Empire at some point and shares the most linguistic similarities out of all of us. Why don’t Cambodians hate them, too?? So very interesting, and since I’m mentioning all these territories, let me just rope in part of Yunnan China, the land of the Dai Chinese. If you Google their images, by their clothing you would’ve thought they were Thai. It’s like humans existed before borders lol… I think Khmer culture is rich and beautiful. I hope their people prosper. I also hope their people stop the cap and realize that hating and lying gets you nowhere.

It doesn't matter who owns them. The past is already outdated. You won't dress, play or fight the way ancestors did but evolve from that.
What matters is how well you present them in the modern world. Will the world enjoy your innovative heritage.
for example, Muay Thai is now accepted world wide. In the future, some countries may fight better than Thai people. Its world heritage, Thai cannot claim its greatness over Muay Thai if they had lost to others.
It's better to focus on innovation and development than speak of nonsense.

You should understand this matter carefully.
In fact, Cambodia has been spreading fake news and slandering Thailand since 2010 until now. And they like to infringe on the intellectual property of Thai people. For example, Muay Thai.
If you search for information about Muay Thai, you will find that Cambodia has been trying to spread fake news a lot. They have successfully copied Muay Thai and now they are trying to claim Muay Thai by claiming that Cambodia is the original. But if you search for information carefully, you will find that these fake news started spreading since 2023 onwards. And Cambodian martial arts only came into existence in 2023.
And in case you don‘t know, let me tell you.
Almost 10 years ago, Cambodia wrote a document saying that Cambodia is the original country of Muay Thai. Then, Cambodia sent this document to UNESCO to certify that it was true. But in the end, UNESCO did not accept the document from Cambodia. So, Cambodia had to delete the content related to Muay Thai.
To summarize this matter: Thailand has a lot of income because of Thai culture. So, Cambodia came up with a great idea by infringing on the intellectual property of Thai people and claiming that Cambodia is the original. And if you look carefully at the countries in ASEAN, you will find that every country has a different civilization. Although we have the same background from India, we have developed it to become our own unique identity. The problem is Cambodia. In fact, Cambodia never had its own culture to begin with. If you search for information carefully, you will find that Cambodians are barbaric. This is an example from the French era.
      th-cam.com/video/jMOUWm1iz3E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fTTKIzKIgvCeWsNQ
Cambodians began to practice Buddhism and Hinduism like Thais no more than 50 years ago. The reason was the Khmer Rouge who committed genocide. So, kind Thais went to teach them about culture. But in fact, Thais do not know about Cambodian culture. So we have to spread Thai civilization to them.
And in fact, once in the 1990s, Cambodia proposed that all countries unify martial arts and named it the art of ASEAN. And Cambodia asked Thailand to invest in all advertising. But Cambodia did not invest with any country. But at that time, Thailand had already started to spread Muay Thai to almost the whole world. This is very shameless.
In case you do not understand, let me explain it to you.
Suppose you are the owner of the Apple phone company. You invested to develop good phones and advertise the products well. But suddenly a competitor came to ask to be the same brand product. But this competitor did not invest anything at all. Importantly, that competitor also used our phone factory. If this happened to you, how would you solve the problem?
And in case you didn’t know. In fact, all the Cambodian athletes have been to Thailand to learn Muay Thai. If you don’t believe me, prove it by searching for information about the names of the Cambodian athletes and you will find out that they have all been to the Muay Thai gym.

It is the worst case between the two countries. The late king suggested to Thais that they should not retaliate and cool down. A friend of mine who speak Thai visited the historic town was told by a Cambodian local not to speak Thai. Cambodia is sandwiched by two Thailand and Vietnam. Very occasionally Cambodia has no choice but to claim against something historic against Thailand. It seems that there aren’t so many migrant workers from Cambodia in Bangkok except for Thai’s eastern border.

Very on point. Thank you for making this video. When Cambodia first claimed the rights, Thai people thought it was funny. For example, Muay Thai has been promoted for a long time. We have had boxing stadiums for a hundred years. There are many legendary boxers who have won world championships. Everyone has to sacrifice blood and tears to make Muay Thai famous on the world stage like it is today. Who would have thought that Cambodia would want to be famous by taking shortcuts? A sane person would not think like this. Later, the demands became more intense and spread to every industry. Whether it's clothing, food, Thai patterns, high art, ceremonial uniforms, Thai houses, not to mention the use of Thai songs and Thai dramas without permission. Everything is claimed as Cambodian property. Even though some of them were newly created by Thai artists, they are still accused of being the original property of Cambodia and they have the right to use it because it has been theirs for a long time. As can be seen from the temple walls. These walls are amazing. There will always be new pictures when there are conflicting claims.

The argument presented highlights a sentiment that Cambodians are making broad and unfounded claims about Thai culture and heritage. Here are some points with supporting evidence:
      1. Historical Context of Cultural Exchange
Cambodia's and Thailand's histories are intertwined, with both nations sharing centuries of cultural exchange due to their proximity and empires' shifting borders. The Khmer Empire, which thrived from the 9th to the 15th century, significantly influenced the region, including what is now Thailand. This influence can be seen in art, architecture, religious practices, and even early forms of combat sports.
      2. The Origins of Combat Sports
      • Muay Thai vs. Bokator: While Muay Thai is widely recognized today and has a rich, developed history with established stadiums and world-renowned fighters, it is important to acknowledge the existence of Bokator, an ancient Khmer martial art depicted in bas-reliefs at Angkor Wat and other Khmer temples. These carvings date back to the 12th century and show combat stances and techniques that predate modern Muay Thai.
      • Cultural Claims: The fact that Muay Thai has become famous globally and has deep-rooted traditions in modern Thai culture does not negate the historical presence of Bokator as an early form of combat. The claim that Cambodia is attempting to take shortcuts overlooks the effort of reviving Bokator, which nearly disappeared due to historical turmoil, including the Khmer Rouge genocide. Cambodia’s push to restore and promote its martial arts is part of reclaiming its heritage, not diminishing Thailand’s accomplishments.
      3. Art, Architecture, and Patterns
      • Khmer Influence on Thai Art and Architecture: The architectural and artistic styles found in Thailand, especially in early structures like Phimai and Phanom Rung, bear a strong resemblance to Khmer temple designs. This influence stems from the period when the Khmer Empire’s reach extended into present-day Thailand.
      • Cultural Similarities: While some elements of modern Thai culture have developed independently, there are undeniable influences from Khmer traditions, especially in art and ceremonial practices. The assertion that Cambodians claim everything as theirs can be seen as an exaggeration; rather, Cambodians are often asserting their historical contributions that were, at times, foundational to shared traditions.
      4. Cambodia’s Cultural Reclamation Efforts
      • Impact of Historical Trauma: The Khmer Rouge regime’s destructive period from 1975 to 1979 led to the loss of countless cultural artifacts and historical knowledge. In the aftermath, Cambodians have worked to recover and preserve their heritage. This process sometimes includes highlighting similarities or origins of cultural elements that were historically significant in Cambodia.
      • Reclaiming vs. Claiming: It is important to distinguish between Cambodia’s efforts to reclaim cultural heritage that has historical precedence and the idea that they are attempting to “steal” modern Thai culture. The focus is often on acknowledging the shared origins or the Khmer roots of certain practices rather than invalidating Thailand’s contemporary developments.
      5. Music, Clothing, and Ceremonial Practices
      • Shared Traditions: Many ceremonial and artistic practices in Southeast Asia have roots in ancient empires like the Khmer Empire and, later, the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The shared use of musical instruments, patterns, and clothing styles is a testament to centuries of cultural exchange. For example, the sampot (traditional Cambodian garment) is part of Cambodia’s historical dress but shares similarities with Thai traditional attire due to regional influence.
      • Modern Adaptations: Some aspects of culture that Cambodians claim to have Khmer roots may have modern adaptations unique to Thailand. However, this does not preclude the possibility that the foundational aspects of these elements were influenced by or originated in Khmer culture.
      6. Cambodia’s Preservation and Promotion Challenges
      • Cultural Identity Post-Genocide: Cambodia’s promotion of its culture, including martial arts like Bokator and traditional arts, is a response to the near eradication of its heritage during the Khmer Rouge period. This effort to rebuild national pride can be seen as part of a broader movement to ensure that historical contributions are not forgotten or overshadowed by modern interpretations in neighboring countries.
      • International Recognition: The inclusion of traditional Cambodian arts and practices in UNESCO’s lists of intangible cultural heritage supports the argument that Cambodia is not simply claiming without basis but is recognized for its contributions to regional culture.
      7. Evidence Supporting Cambodian Claims
      • Archaeological Evidence: Bas-reliefs in Angkor Wat and other temples depict scenes of combat, dance, and ceremonial practices that date back centuries before similar practices appeared in neighboring regions. These carvings are physical evidence of early Khmer culture influencing surrounding areas.
      • Historical Records: Scholars such as Georges Coedes have noted the significant role of the Khmer Empire in shaping early Southeast Asian civilization. The similarities in art, architecture, and cultural practices are not coincidental but are products of the empire’s reach and interactions.
      Conclusion
It is important to approach cultural heritage disputes with nuance and recognition of shared history. While it is understandable that Thailand takes pride in promoting Muay Thai, Thai arts, and modern developments, Cambodia’s efforts to reclaim and highlight its historical influence are not about taking shortcuts but about restoring pride in a heritage that was disrupted by conflict and colonization. Both countries have rich, intertwined histories that should be celebrated for their contributions to Southeast Asia’s cultural tapestry. Mutual acknowledgment and dialogue can help foster respect and understanding rather than conflict.

One thing to be mentioned of is that the Khmer empire had adopted Hinduism in which citizens are classified in Varnas. Today Cambodians are the progeny of the laboring clade's leftover when almost all the upper clades were eliminated by the labors in the civil war wherein they were dethroned. That explains why they can never build any great castle with the Khmer architecture ever since. All the later era's structures built in Kampuchea are much different from the Khmer castles. They all look much more like the adoptions from Siamese culture.

As a Thai myself, i were still confused what happened to this generation, I'm not that old to know and remember all the history of Thai and Cambodia but all i know was Cambodia started to calling us thai as a "copycat" or something when just a simple thing such as sports, dish and other stuff became popular, all the evident they had was just a some kind of picture on the wall that some of them probably don't even know what they actually means, I don't really paid that much attention on history class but hope this kind of war stopped, like thai just stays like what we always are and Cambodia actually proud of the stuff from their own history, one more thing brother, thai usually don't claim things as their own they just got inspired by other culture, in my opinion thai people mostly got inspired by Indian and china.
Sorry about my english, im not quite good with the grammar

As a combodian, majority of us called thailand people as thai "ថៃ" (it's just a name of thailand, it doesn't refer any bad meaning). Plus we don't usually claim people's culture as ours but we just get inspired from other countries (mostly kids nowadays they're really inspired by korea, japan, china, america).
In my opinion, most cambodian you guys encounter in the interenet are usually uneducated people, so they be claiming things, such as lisa and padthai, or making a joke. (They sometimes never knowledge the right thing)
Most educated cambodian respect what ours and others, so we dont claim things without evidence
Some of the parts you are right, people getting mixed up with the culture even myself get mixed up with traditional clothes. But thanks to the video im enable to recall the memory that i've studied history back in my highschool.
I also believe that history can be modified in both cambodian text book and thailand's. So I cannot find the true and false.
And truely apologised for my bad english.

Cambodia was under Thai colonization hundreds of years they have alot culture from us
But they claim the original due to Nakhonwat from Khom empire centuries ago that maybe we came from the same origin and after time we developed to be ourself but they claim everything without any evidence.
Fir example we come from Candle village
THAI DEVELOP LIGHT BULP and teach Cambodia about how to make it. Then they claim that was their original due to they have candle village in their country.
We have evidence that after Civilwar we sent teacher to teach them what they lost
We have evidence that they were under our colonization for hundred of years

Cambodian might used to influence Thai like 3,000+ years ago, Thai people are all admit it and we were teached. But after the fall of Khmer Empire and the rise of Ayuddhaya Empire, Thai influenced Cambodia instead. We developed our own things by mixing up with many cultures that we lived with, through colonial era, world wars, economic crisis.
But Cambodian, their memory is like the people who were sleeping over through this 3,000 years, and then woke up 10 years ago and start claiming everything in this region belong to them. I was like - WHAT!!?

As a Cambodian and i’m not trying to be bias or anything but I completely agree with you. We shared a long history of cultural influences that kind of back and forth. And as you mention, the Khmer Empire influnced Thai culturally in a numerous of ways and noting that the Khmer civilization is historically older than Thai, we can say that thai wouldent necessarily ‘steal’ but rather take those cultural factors and make them uniquely to their own, but still has those Khmer aspects to it. For instance let’s take our written/spoken language. The Khmer is part of the Mon-Khmer language family (emerge around 500 CE) which is more older than the Tai-Kadai language family (emerge around 1200 CE) which includes Thai. Under the Khmer influence, Thai has adopted a lot of Khmer tones and written scripts and later develop a distinctive language combining a various of influences to the Thai language. This is why we see so many similar words with exact meaning in our language.

After the fall of the Khmer Empire and rise of the Ayuddhaya Empire, things to start to look a little different, as Thai culture influenced Khmer culture instead . To the architecture, to the cuisine, to dance and music. Speaking of which, Cambodians must admit that their court dance is highly rooted and influence by Thai. All of these factors plays in to our cultural exchanges and so both nation must acknowledge our shared cultural heritage.
