Great! This is very helpful. I play basic LH chords for 3+ pieces and I was trying to figure out how to enhance these chords. This helps but I guess I have to dig it out of the dirt for each specific basic chord on what exactly will work with the specific RH melody. I will try your suggestion... adding upper extensions, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, and/or 13ths to the basic chords. I need to do this for Crying in the Chapel, Smile, and Autumn Leaves using lead sheets. Most of them are already using 7ths and 6ths. It sounds great but a little too plain for me. I guess I will try one at a time, possible upgrades of 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths versions. Will you be providing more information on this process? Thanks.

What formula to make chords "beautiful"?
In a nutshell, a lot of it is adding upper extension, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, and or 13ths to the chords!
