Is it true that you believe in a book of fair tales? You have talking trees, talking ants, magic rings, bird General Al hudhud and it's bird army, magic carpets, dead standing for a year, dogs guarding sleepers and so on. This sounds like 1001 Arabian nights.
Please prove me wrong by showing that just one of these fairy tales is true? Just tell me where I can find the Gog and Magog people and the wall that they are behind? This wall was bulit by a man, we should be able to se it. If it is hidden, show me the verse in the Quran?
Your hadith say that there are 999 of them for every believer, they have horses, and they will fire arrows on the day of judgment on mecca. Your hadith say 999 of these kafirs will take on each muslim's sins on judgement day. If there are 1 billion believers, there are 1 trillion gog and magog and their horses. Why can't anybody find the wall/dam or the gog and magog except in a book of fairy tales??

I haven't watched it in full yet, but I know this is going to be a great interview! Let me tell you a few more things about Sh. Mustafa Khattab that may not have been mentioned in the interview: (1) He is one of the nicest and most humble imams that you will ever meet. (2) He is courageous, which is why he trades his regular clothes for an "iERA Canada" sweatshirt every weekend and heads to downtown Toronto to do street da'wah; that is not a role or terrain that you see many imams willing or able to step into. (3) He is one of the most sought after imams for performing nikaahs in the Greater Toronto Area. (4) His bayaans are full of humor and even at the nikaah ceremonies he will always have the audience chuckling. (5) He has a database of jokes that he custom-tailors for his audience-- ie. Arab jokes, desi jokes for the Indo-Pak audience, etc. (6) He has written a 200+ page book on the Nation of Islam (which I think is basically an expanded form of his PhD dissertation); it is not mass-published and so it is very difficult and expensive to get a hold of, but I hope to one day read it! May Allah s.w.t. bless the Shaykh and preserve him.

Abu Bakr reported that a man was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and someone praised him. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Woe to you! You have cut off the head of your companion!" and he repeated that several times. He went on, "If one of you must praise someone, he should say, 'I consider that so-and-so is such-and-such.' Allah is the One who will take account of him if he thinks that he is indeed like that, No one can appropriate Allah's right to attest to someone's character."

I'm soooooo honoured to put a face to a name ! Baraka-llahu fika wa fi tallatika ya Doctor.
Even if I am mainly an Arabic learner, lately, I found myself attached to English contents (and even in need to give modest Da'awah with the little knowledge I have subhanAllah!).
As a layperson, I used Sahih International and Abdul Haleem translations for a short period then I discovered The Clear Quran (I just learned from the video that my discovering coincided with the launching time subhanAllah !!!) which became my main Quran translation jazakum-llahu khayra wa thaqqala bihi mizana hassanatikum. And may Allah bless your time and knowledge and health and all what you need to accomplish the current and future projects and make The ummah benefit from them.. Ameen.
So far, I used it only on my Quran application, but I'd love to get it in paper form one day inshaAllah..
Thank you so much OnePath Network for such a blessed interview.

All my life I had been looking for a Quran translation that would hold my focus but was not able to. Most of them were too literal and I could not connect. Recently I came across The Clear Quran, which is in simple, everyday language . I feel it is the best English translation of the Quran. This is a great interview, yet I would love to have it fully in English. Sending this video to friends or interested people would cause them to ask what all these words in between mean. Such insider words like "Sahaba", "Tadabur", "subhan allah" and so on. The video is only functional for Muslims associated with such language.

Even as Arabs that speak Arabic we cannot fully understand the meaning of the Qur'an.
The Qur'an is in Fusha Classical Arabic and even Arabs cannot understand this without learning this type of Arabic in a formal education facility.
As Arabs we may know the vocabulary but the rules of the Arabic language, it's poetry and it's sciences require a high level of studies.
That is why we have something called tafseer, tafseer explains the Qur'an using the context of the verse
(who it was revealed for, what is the reason the verse was revealed, when was it revealed, where was it revealed e.t.c.)
Using these types of historical documentations the mufassireen translate the Qur'an into clear sentences, for all of us to understand. Arabic language us laymen understand.

Mustafa Khattab is mistaken when he says at 15:58 that Ja'far translated the words of the Qur'an to An-Najashi of Ethiopia because, according to Shaykh Muhammad Aman al-Jami, "the king an-Najashi was raised in the Arabian Peninsula during his youth, so he perfected the Arabic language. For this reason, he did not require a translator to understand the leader of the migrants, Ja'far bin Abi Talib, radi allahu anhu, during their conversation. Likewise, he did not require a translator when Ja'far recited the Noble Qur'an." - from the book 'Islam in Africa Throughout History' by Shaikh Muhammad Aman al-Jami, footnote on page 26.

    Mashallah nice work!
However please keep in mind that it is not possible to entirely translate the Qur'an to another language because of it's linguistic deepness and ambiguity.
Rather interpretations of the Qur'an are written to get a better understandig of the Mushaf, which is, in the words of the Islamic Scholar Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır, like taking a drop from an entire sea.
So it won't be right to say "Translation of the Qur'an", therefore terms like Tafseer and Te'vil are used for interpretations and particular apsects of meaning.

    ADDRESSED TO DR. MUSHARRAF HUSSAIN
OBE 2009 - I have experienced “COMMUNITY” here in the UK as meaning EXCLUSIVELY TRIBAL (RACIST) - AND MAINLY PUNJABI!
Dr Musharraf Hussain is dead wrong in his interpretation of the rendered meaning or translation of
يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَلِدْ لَمْ - Lam yalid walam yooladu"- God neither begets nor is He begotten".
It is all about GOD REPRODUCING HIS KIND AND BEING HIMSELF THE PRODUCT OF SUCH A REPRODUCTION akin to human sexual reproduction as was and still is the case in many religions, literally or metaphorically.
Dr. Hussain’s reduction of the versified style (“a disservice”, he claims) rendering to a “paragraphised” rendering (emanating from his unique genius mind!) is definitely NOT the best style in which to translate or render the meaning of any Holy Text. There is nothing wrong with a thematic review paraphrasing the Holy text in “plain” English, and I am sure Dr. Musharraf Hussain’s “translation” would prove very interesting, but I can already see the ugliness of his style and his boasting to be completely out of place! He will obviously please his tribe, his Sect, but not mainstream Muslims worldwide. Even the print layout quality of his book is repulsive to my personal taste!
I agree with him that the English language is evolving and the older renderings or translations of the Holy Book need to be updated by a team of scholars, but I would never trust one OBE, a decorated Slave of Empire, to do that correctly.
Dr. Musharraf Hussain’s rendering of “Verse” 3 of Surah Ikhlas proves my point. “Every day English” is not Queen’s or BBC English, but popular street and market place English, slang, cockney, Jamaican, African, West Indian, Indian, LHBTQ+, TRANS, or whatever, and definitely not the language to transmit a Sacred Text. He removes the terms beget and begotten, and replaced them with “Father” and “Son” - “He is not a father nor a son”? Feminists will obviously hate this!
The old renderings do not “INSULT THE MODERN READER”, as Dr. Hussain claims, because efforts have never stopped in their updating! My old acquaintance Imâm Muhammad al-‘Asi of Washington D.C. (former member of Dr. Kalim Siddiqui’s Majlis as Shura fi Britanya, commonly known as The Muslim Parliament of Great Britain) started publishing
“The Ascendant Qur'an: Realigning Man to the Divine Power Culture.”
His mother-tongue is Arabic and one who will never obtain any OBE or even an OSWH (Order of Saudi Wahhabi Heresy). His efforts reached some 14 volumes, which I expected to be the best rendering of the Holy Text ever to be made, but I decided not to buy any of them because I was already fed up with all existing “translations” and renderings, the good, the bad, and the crappy.
I am even repulsed by Dr. Musharraf Hussain’s title itself: “MAJESTIC QUR’AN” when the original Arabic itself is absent in there! Others before him used the word “NOBLE”! God made the Qur’an easy to understand, but no non Arab speaking Muslim ever understood it until “Punjabi” OBE Hussain appeared in the UK?
Question 1: Why does Dr. Hussain translate Baqarah by COW? I always understood it was about the Golden CALF worshipped by the Children of Israel?
Question 2: Why does he show ARABIA on a map and call it SAUDI Arabia? Is he a Wahhabi (Crypto-Jewish) too?
Question 3: Older translations make the Qur’aan “OUTDATED”?
Question 4: His “majestic” book is NOT A TRANSLATION OF THE QUR’AN IN PLAIN ENGLISH, but just a thematic review of its contents? True or false?
