Thanks, John! Another great video!! I LOVE your ideas for exercising this beautiful breed. I purchased a flirt pole, after watching another video from you, and our 3 year old doberman LOVES it!! It has become his favorite toy! Thank you again!!
This is Louie in my profile pic. He is a 3 year old fawn or diluted red Doberman, half European and half American, weighs 100 to 105 lbs. Just bought the bubble machine and have had the flirt pole for a while. He loves to catch the toy on the end and give it the "death" shake while I am still tugging on it. He loves to do it right at first dark in the backyard when he gets the Doberman zoomies. Dobermans love being outdoors right after dark something about the night gets them going, at least Louie does. Here is my tip: We have a giant leash required park close to our house. I have a 30 foot retractable heavy duty leash, now I have been doing this with him since he was a pup, and he is physically very athletic. He is trained and senses when he is going to hit that 30 foot stop point and he runs laps in circles around me as I switch hands behind my back holding the leash walking across the field. He fully extends the leash, it is looks similar to the circle training running they have for tethered horses to teach them to run or trot only Louie hits full speed. He really gets excited when he see other dogs and kids and increases his stride when he sees them to show off. I also encourage him with a "Come on, let's go!!!!!" command. He loves it! He brings me his collar and tries to reach the leash every night. I have to spell the word w a l k around him or he starts barking and complain grunting to go. Best dog breed ever!!!
Absolutely love this channel. So strange, picking up my 3rd Doberman pup next Saturday. My last one recently passed 💔 I hadn’t heard the name Arlo in decades. We decided to name him Arlo, then found your channel….. since then I’ve heard of a long lost friend that also named his so. Arlo and come into contact with a new client named Arlo. Amazing how that works. I love your Arlo, he’s amazing. Blessings.
Thanks so much! Arlo is a pretty great name. ;) Condolences on your recently passed Doberman, but also congratulations on your new pup! He's no doubt going to bring a lot of joy back into your lives!
Thank you for this video because I lost half of mobility from a ruptured brain aneurysm stroke in my carotid artery in my brain but also love my Doberman and would love to give him his proper exercise.
So sorry to hear about that, Lyndell! We're glad this video can help, especially with your specific situation. Surely your Doberman would love any one of these exercise ideas! Let us know which one you find he likes the best and that is the easiest on you!
I love that you did this video. I have lots of friends who love this breed, but are disabled and so they don’t feel like they’d be able to give the proper amount of exercise to the dog. This is been the only thing that kept them from adopting ones they found in shelters, so I’m going to start sharing the link for this video with them. That way in case they come across another shelter dobie, That they know there’s a real possibility of being able to have one of their favorite dogs and being able to take proper care of it.
Another great video John! When I can, Nyx gets 3 x 30 mins sessions of frisbee a day... she'll do this in the rain, snow or mud lol If it's a dog park day or a romp in the field she gets a weighted vest with 5-6 pounds in it. Keeps her fit and jacked, but wears her right out. Treadmill is used only in the absolutely horrible days...way too hot or cold. I wanted to try the Fi system, but was given a FitBark from a friend. It's pretty cool too, just not as advanced. I'm going to try to upload some footage of Nyx playing frisbee. Cheers
Love the video! Yeah for bubbles. Me and Moses were out in the snow this morning playing bubbles. The wind takes them far so Moses has to run far and fast to get them. Thanks to the neighbor behind me who has 5 acres and let’s us run him back there!!!! I like the looks of that pole thing on the tree!!! May give that a try. Our dog is also blessed to have three teens who play hard with him. Always keep the kids involved.
That's great that there are some teenagers to entertain him - no doubt that he loves that! So glad to hear that Moses loves chasing bubbles so much. If you do get the spring pole, let us know how you like it!
I just put a deposit down for a Doberman pup. I’m so excited! Your videos have helped me get prepared, I’m fairly certain I have watched almost every one haha.
I bike with my dogs everyday. We are up to 2 miles a day. They are tired for about a hour after. Love the flirt pole. I have a lot of joint issues so working them helps me to move more . But remember the fitter they get the more exercise they need. Love your videos! Bravo
I just want to add one more thing. Please make sure your Doberman is healthy for strenuous exercise. Also please make sure you holter your dogs every six months if possible. The male I lost to dcm. Use to run him 2-3 miles a day. Was sure glad I found out early that he had dcm. So I could cut out the strenuous exercise. One of the most needed things for our dobies.
Actually, these are great pointers for those of us who have disabilities or chronic illness. We love the Dobie but aren't physically able to keep up with them so these ideas are fantastic!
I have pretty awful chronic pain, and exhaustion, so these will be so helpful for me keeping my Coby's exercise up, without putting me down for the count for a week. He's almost 3, and it takes a lot to tire him out.
God made balls to help Dobe owners. LOL My husband spends 3 different times per day with a intense ball time. Good for him and the dobes! We can tell by speed of bringing ball back to how much the yayas have been spent. We are fortunate to have a very large fenced in backyard. Otherwise I don't think we could have 3 large breed dogs. At least keeping the energy level where it should be.
I had someone tell me that the best way to tire out a Dobie is mentally bc you will never wear them out physically. My old Dobie used to love to "hunt" when I'd clean out the fridge! I'd cut up whatever leftover meats we had and then toss and scatter it throughout the yard while she watched. Then she'd spend a good hour or more hunting for every last morsel. She'd pace back and forth like she were vacuuming the yard to be sure she got it all, and would come in completely exhausted! We have a 3 month old now and we've begun the hunting game with her, too. She loves it, although she's not as dedicated to it. But, she does love to race our neighbor's dog through the fence as well as play goalie for my son when he kicks a ball around. I also like to take her on short walks where she can sniff All.The.Things, and that seems to wear her out pretty well bc of the mental stimulation.
Another great video from John with plenty of fine ideas. Thanks John I learned a couple of new techniques. The way I exercise my doberman is using my backyard with a 15% grade Hill. My health sits on just over half an acre so I am blessed with a large back yard. My doberman loves to chase sticks. So I break them off about 18 in long and then use my pen knife to strip off the bark. I have about six or seven of these sticks and on any given play time I use three or four of them. She's so smart she always gets at least two, so it's a challenge for me to get the third one. And if I use fourth, only then am I assured that I finally have a fair chance to get one of them. What a champion with speed, agility, strength and Keen intelligence! Of course, I make her run up and down the hill and she likes to catch the sticks before they hit the ground, so I must throw them as long and hard as I can or otherwise she will outrun the stick while it is in flight! I find this technique is another good for Doberman owners to be aware of. It's low cost, challenging and engaging with your dog in a series of possession games. I also take my dog on very long nature trail walks because I am blessed to have at least four or five very large parks here in northern central Maryland. I find that when she is outside for long periods of time, more than an hour or two, that alone will burn up energy. Of course I always make sure that my dog has plenty of fresh water, with a pig ear for a treat before the water. I find that if she is given cold water directly after her intensive exercise she will consistently throw up. I encourage all Doberman owners to have the gastrointestinal stitch surgery to prevent the stomach from turning, because it is a threat to the life of the dog. I'm sorry I forget the medical terminology name of the procedure, but essentially it is laparoscopic and they stitch the exterior lining of the stomach wall so that it will not rotate. Many dogs have died because they did not have this procedure done as I learned from the University of pennsylvania, Ryan veterinarian school. Because she has von willebrands disease, I also had to have a laparoscopic spay performed on her as well. Certainly not an inexpensive breed to own from a healthcare perspective, but worth every penny. Back to my doberman, she is true to form a real velcro dog and the best companion dog I've ever owned! Truly a breed that stands Head and shoulders above the rest. Thanks again John for these great ideas and take care.
My boy Jed gets to run around mostly next to my motorcycle at 8-12 mph on forest service roads off leash. But then, we "live" in our RV boondocking in remote parts of the Rockies and/or Canyons.
One of my Dobies loved the lake, spent hours in the water "fishing". The water resistance kept him in shape. While on vacation in Tennessee I saw a man in a golf cart walking his little white dog.
Frank, water definitely is a great way to get your Dobie some exercise! Lol sounds like the man in Tennessee was doing the easiest thing for him at the time. Surely his dog loved it, though!
Try getting a Segway and using it. I'm in a wheelchair and have one that is modified as a wheelchair. It can go up to 13 MPH and I take my pups our for a jog every day. It will wear them out
These are great. Helps if you have health limitations too and can't keep up with your dog. I bought a seal shaped bubble machine and might look into the ball thrower. Those are neat. If all goes well I get my pup next week.
Loved the video. I learned a lot. Definitely will be ordering the collar you showed on the video. Really cool way to get information on your doberman. Your videos are always entertaining and informative. Thanks for the informative content. Definitely a public service for Doberman owners. I personally thank you for taking the time to upload this invaluable information. TY, Mark from L.I.N.Y.
Thank you so much for posting about dobermans. Major my doberman is different than the past dobermans. I can't help but feel bad that we don't do much. Your videos helped me understand them more. This has helped keep Major happy. I do have a question though. How can you tell if your doberman is happy and doesn't feel stress?
I’m getting my new first ever dog (a Doberman) in a couple weeks and I’m so scareddd but excited (is this normal😅?)Your channel has been so much help and has made me fully commit to getting a Doberman in the last year. All this guidance is just amazing I love binge watching your videos over and over. Arlo is the cutest 🥺 thanks John, watching from Australia 🤍
Another great idea is use bright red boxing gloves. If you put them on and start just lightly pressing your dog or even just waving your hands around he/she will go bonkers. Blue (my Doberman) absolutely loves it. Obviously do not punch the dog.
great Video John having bred these dogs now for 48 years I want to disagree with the hanging toy have a friend who did that and it caused degenerative disc disease in her dogs neck
Oh wow, Kimberly! That's great information to know. Wondering how much daily use it would take to cause a problem. A lot of owners love it, but surely aren't aware of that issue it could cause if that was their only source of exercise. Thanks for pointing that out!
@@DobermanPlanet I just thought it was a bad idea when I saw her. Dog playing with it I could see these dogs have long necks a dog’s body is meant for downward movement you don’t see them looking to the sky with there necks bent I would advise staying away from the hanging toys I have 50 years owning 48 breeding them that is just a painful senior years who chooses this lazy way of exercising your Doberman
I need some advise. Four months ago I rehomed a 5yr old retired Showdog after my 11 year old Doberman Duchess passed. My new Doberman Evi was apparently mistreated. So sad. She wants nothing to do with any of the dog toys here. She doesn't know what to do with balls. The only reason she moves the kong around is to get the treats out then leaves it. When she whines it's not a normal sound. Sounds horrible. They did something called "bark softening " to her vocal chords. The vocal chords grew back and she can bark and howls like a hound dog. It took some time for her to learn it's alright to get up on the couch with me. Just recently she started getting up onto my bed to sleep with me. I will keep working with her with the toys. She does love to run in the backyard. Thank you for your encouraging videos.
Watching your Doby on that treadmill brought back great childhood memories. His name was Pal, and he wouldn't run on a treadmill unless you took his collar off first.
I love your channel! Always great tips to love and nurture our dogs (dobermans and otherwise) better. I've always loved dobermans since my Aunt and Uncle had their own when I was a kid. Our whole family has so many stories from that one dog's antics! Dobermans are almost too smart! Definitely mischief makers if they don't have enough stimulation. On another note there are also tennis ball "guns" where you can easily reload them and send 'em flying. I ordered one for my MIL's rottweiler and she loves it! Her dad, in his late 80s, sits in his golf cart and shoots tennis balls and I don't know who enjoys it more- Ol' Pop or Sam the rottweiler!
Laser Pointers. We originally had it for the cat, but Ava took it over. We would joke about the remote control for the dog. She knew perfectly well that the red light came form the stick, she did not care; she would tell you to go it. One trip with friends, we forgot the all important device. Luckily one of our friends worked for emergency mgmt. and had one of the powerful laser pointers. He ran her around over a 1/2 mile radius.
I have a ton of squirrel and deer in my yard. I'm wondering if the flirt pole or toys that resemble how little animals run away will cause issues? I have no fence but a large yard.
It shouldn't cause any issues - Dobermans are smart and can decipher what is real and what's not. But also, most of the flirt pole options are just tassels on the end and not plush animal toys.
the sound of your doberman dogtags jingling tripped out my dog for a solid 5 mins. he thought a invisible dog was running around the bedroom. loved it and made me laugh:)
I tried playing the Shell game with Sammy. I'd put a treat under 3 cups, switch them around and let him touch a cup with his nose, then lift it to show him the treat is under the cup, then give it to him. Then switch them again and let him pick a cup and show him if he picked the empty cup, switch them again until he picks one of the two remaining treats, then work down to 3 cups with only one treat.
6:28 looks like you're walking while giving the bird to everyone 😂 I'm planning on getting a canine slat mill once I have my Doberman. They are safer than human treadmills because they are powered by the dog running and stop when the dog stops. They also harness the dog in so there are no accidents involving a slip where the dog falls off.
Oh yeah that's how happy you get when you get a Doberman... you start walking around like that. 😂 Just kidding of course. Great comment. You got me cracking up. I'll have to take a look at the slat mills a bit more! Thanks for the tip... and the laughs!
Hey John, as always, great stuff but I thought I'd add a few thoughts/opinions to your recommendations... With regards to biking, skateboarding or, for that matter, even jogging your Doby, you should be aware that doing so with young, immature dogs can be a real problem as it relates to proper bone and joint development. Heavy, prolonged exercise on hard surfaces can result in serious bone and joint issues in mature dogs so it's probably best to avoid these types of activities until your dog is fully matured. My concerns with the auotmatic ball launcher have to do with the projectile itself. I NEVER leave P.T. (my male pup) with tennis balls unsupervised as he, and Doby's n general, is a very hard chewer and will break down and swallow tennis balls inside of 20 minutes. Lastly, a tip for Kongs, get the heaviest one your pooch can handle. The heavier the better as it will give them a better work-out and will better resist chewing destruction.
Totally agree, Bert! Dobermans shouldn't be heavily exercised on hard surfaces before 18 months of age because their bone structure is still developing. Always keep an eye on Dobies chewing balls as well. Great tips!
this was a useful video. cause as much as i would love to have a dog like a doberrman i casn relly on to protect me and feel save and loved, my biggest fear is my LACK of active life, combined with a tiny apartment. and i already have a energetic papillon living here.
Squirrels! The best "lazy" owner exercise ever....and they're free!! I have RA in my feet so running or long walks aren't going to happen. But, 15min chasing squirrels in the backyard and Diesel is ready for a nap!
Thanks for the video! Planing on getting a Doberman soon, I do understand the exercise part, but can you explain or recommend some mental simulation? Since I will be working full time so I would like to know what kind of activities I can set up when I am away. Thanks!!!!
I have a 9 month old Dobie and I have to be careful of what I leave in his crate or he'll shred it. I got him the Kong Extreme and I put doggie peanut butter in it. I also leave a nylabone in his crate. My Doberman is pretty smart and knows how to get out of his crate. So, I have to put thumb latches on his crate latches. When I'm home we use treat puzzles and training sessions.
@@ethelng3150 his crate is only large enough for him to turn around and lay down. We've only had Thor for about a month and a half, but I'm learning doberman can be pretty mischievous if left to their own devices. I do leave some heavy duty chew toys in his crate, but nothing that he can tear up or shred. He tends to hyperfocus on things when he's left alone. His previous owners didn't do much with him, so since he's older I'm having some difficulty with crate training and separation anxiety. But I highly recommend watching Doberman Planet's videos on crate training and separation anxiety. Honestly, this channel has been a lifesaver for me.
Hi, Ethel! Puzzle toys are a great way to keep your Dobie mentally stimulated while you're away: th-cam.com/video/MCyDLLBb1mU/w-d-xo.html. This video talks about different ones that we've used and recommend to keep your best friend happy and entertained while you're away.
My dobbie Kuro is 3 years old, a few moths ago he was diagnosed with carcinoma in a back paw. The vet has amputated 2 fingers. Now he must have absolut rest. I don't know how... It's a doberman... He's not cáncer free yet. Thank you for your Channel. Sorry for my english.
I am disabled with arthritis and have a lot of difficulty walking especially longer distances. I have taught my dobies to pull my manual wheelchair with me in it. It is very ergonomic but yet with my weight it can really wear them out in not too much time. We usually go for walks in the early morning so they don't get over heated, and we have a lot of fun doing it.
We went through this too. Try diluting white vinegar with water and spray on anything you don’t want your dobie to bite including your arms lol. Our trainer suggested this and it was helpful. hang tight it gets better as they mature
Puppy biting sure isn't an uncommon problem, but definitely one you want to "nip in the bud". This video on puppy biting should help: www.dobermanplanet.com/how-to-get-a-doberman-puppy-to-stop-biting. Best of success to you!
Great Tips! I'm a filmmaker and made a flirt pole with a boom pole I had. Going for runs doesn't work as she just tends to run ahead of me and jump and nip at me lol
Could you please do a video on how to prepare for adopting a year old doberman. As I am adopting a rescue, 1 year and I don't know what training he has had or his temperament.
Thank you for the upload John. My general opinion is if you’re lazy, don’t get a Dobie! Just came back from a two hours hike in the Black Forest. My boys are finally a bit tired 😉
@@DobermanPlanet oh the Black Forest is simply stunning. I moved here 20 years ago from Northern Germany and I am still in awe. Btw, they’re two! I have two nutty Dobermans, both male, dorky, hyper active and everything else you describe too 😉😍
The weighted vest is awesome. Yes you can use it but please make sure your dog is fit enough. Watch how much weights you use. Slowly work up to the weight and fitness you want.
Love the info. I'm thinking about getting a dobermann soon and honestly my biggest concern is if I get one and decide to crop the ears or if the breeders have already cropped them what the after care procedures are. Do you have any sort of guide for this?? A lot of people seem to have different methods but if I go through with something like this I want to do it right and I can't seem to find much guidance.
And I bet if you tell your Doberman that he is such a Beautiful Beast when he's running and talk to him about how Graceful and Sleek he is and how Lithely he moves, that dog would just try harder and harder to please you and wear himself out even faster!
Your videos are so helpful! We use stairs as exercise for our 2 toy fox terriers (since they were about 6 mo. old and are now 11 and 13) and that helps wear them out in the winter when it's too cold to go outside or on days it raining. We now have a 16 week old male doberman and he's been using stairs for his potty runs since we got him at 12 weeks. I'm reading conflicting reports about whether doberman puppies under 1 should even be doing stairs. He is really too heavy for me to carry (35 lbs). What are your thoughts? Thanks!
Took our dobie puppy to visit family after he'd had his second booster. He literally wore out 3 French bulldogs TWICE before we left. He only fell asleep on the car ride home. Three months old and 30 pounds of sheer nonstop monster.😂
In the description under this video you'll see the link for the Fi collars and a coupon code exclusively for Doberman Planet watchers! th-cam.com/video/PxLHLXyynyI/w-d-xo.html
Although we can't recommend specific breeders, send us a message on Facebook or Instagram and we can point you in the direction of some great resources that'll help you find the perfect fit!
Oh perfect, Shravan! If you search "exercise" in our channel's search bar, there are other great videos like fun activities to do with your Doberman that you might enjoy seeing as well!
These things are not really so much lazy ideas of exercising one's dog, as they are very helpful ways to the handicapped such as myself. BTW if you stick the KONG ball on a long sturdy enough dowel, you can fling that thing pretty far afield.
Thanks for pointing that out, Kacee! You're absolutely right, these exercise ideas could be a life-saver for a person in your situation. Especially since Doberman's don't "let-up" any energy for people with handicaps and they still have to get their exercise in one way or another. That's great to know about the KONG ball trick, too!
I used to do the bike thing with a doberman and I used to run about 10 miles per day. You bring a doberman on a 10 mile run, get them in a pool and a 15 mile bike ride, that dog is done for the day.
Safira lives on a ranch where she plays . I take her for a walk in the afternoon .She can run free ,she can run about 35 miles per hour. She also keeps the coyotes off the property. We have chickens and cats she doesn’t bother them , lots of different people come here for horse shows and bring dogs she gets along with all the people and dogs, she loves children. She is a wonderful beautiful girl .
I’ll add two more 1. Bring your Doberman to the dog park always work they play and run until the can’t any more and help a lot with they’re anxiety 2 having another dog is something that works aswell they’ll would make each other tired 👍🏼 and help when you have to go away for a few days they’ll make each other company
I am said Lazy person but only lazy to my pup. We go for two 2 hour hikes, runs and then he runs freely at a turf field for an hour...... 😂 Still never tired..... ironically we go for bike rides on rainy days......he pulls me the entire way
We go on a bike ride but i can't let her off leash so i use chain attached to the bike's neck and PLEASE USE ONLY HARNESSES She loves to pull the bike till she can't anymore and then walks with it Biking takes only 45 minutes to tire out a 10 month old puppy Please be safe 😇
My 1 year old Doberman is like the energizer bunny I take him out kick soccer balls and go for walks and have tried all of the jumping techniques I could find on TH-cam and nothing I do seems to tire him out enough to be calm inside the house he will basically tear anything apart he can get his mouth on. I don’t know what else to do to calm him down so you think he will calm down as he gets older
Great video but alluding to your end of the video summary I think humans are just like Doberman and need to exercise daily otherwise we get fat anxious and lazy with fragile mental health 👀
We've been using old footage of Arlo, that's probably why. Still going through hosting applications, though, so you'll see some definitive changes with others and their Dobies being featured on the channel soon!
So glad you enjoyed the video, Kourey! Having lots of exercise makes for a tired dog and would probably help with the barking problem. Dobies do have a ton of energy!

Great name! ;) Congratulations on the new addition to your family!
3:07 I used to have For my Doberman puppy I got the cat toy one he loved it
Definitely a multi-purpose tool, Ryan! Especially for the cat lovers out there as well!
Having a large fenced in backyard certainly is a huge plus...also having three large dog breeds! No doubt they all help tire each other out!
Running with my Doberman was a health risk both mentally and physically by the end of it he was walking me while I was gasping for air
@xXBossManStatusXx, the two of you traveling by foot together, your dog walks fast while YOU run. Each of you travels about the same speed.
They sure can tire us out quickly! That's why some of these easy ideas are so great because they tire the Dobie out much faster than their owner!
Try getting a Segway and using it. I'm in a wheelchair and have one that is modified as a wheelchair. It can go up to 13 MPH and I take my pups our for a jog every day. It will wear them out
Many great ideas!! Thank you! I was wondering if you ever got the pics I sent of my dog Athena...the one with uncropped ears that stand up?
Yes, we did! You might see her featured in a future video. Thanks for submitting those photos!
These are great. Helps if you have health limitations too and can't keep up with your dog. I bought a seal shaped bubble machine and might look into the ball thrower. Those are neat. If all goes well I get my pup next week.
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
Loved the video.
My dog loves the bubbles. It's like he ran a fast mile and all 😊 Thanks
I love the Bubble machine assistant/technician! He is a pro!!
Hi John,great video,thank you so
much,I love Arlo and your videos!❤
🐾💕lot's of love from germany,
stay safe!🤗👋🇩🇪
Thanks for reaching out, Silvia! Great to hear from you and thanks for all the love!
Just a bit of advice when using a treadmill: make sure your dog has pooped outside before going on the treadmill.
Thank me later LOL
See I knew it cause I don’t know why but every time I run with my Doberman she loves taking a shit mid run
great Video John having bred these dogs now for 48 years I want to disagree with the hanging toy have a friend who did that and it caused degenerative disc disease in her dogs neck
Thank you for your encouraging videos.
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
Watching your Doby on that treadmill brought back great childhood memories.
This channel has the best intros
Haha thanks! So glad you like them!
No matter what I do for exercise my dobe keeps going and going like the energizer bunny , he never stops
6:28 looks like you're walking while giving the bird to everyone 😂
I'm planning on getting a canine slat mill once I have my Doberman. They are safer than human treadmills because they are powered by the dog running and stop when the dog stops. They also harness the dog in so there are no accidents involving a slip where the dog falls off.
Oh yeah that's how happy you get when you get a Doberman... you start walking around like that. 😂
Just kidding of course.
Great tips!
How long should the treadmill be for a doberman to trot comfortably??
this was a useful video. cause as much as i would love to have a dog like a doberrman i casn relly on to protect me and feel save and loved, my biggest fear is my LACK of active life, combined with a tiny apartment. and i already have a energetic papillon living here.
Squirrels! The best "lazy" owner exercise ever....and they're free!!
I have RA in my feet so running or long walks aren't going to happen. But, 15min chasing squirrels in the backyard and Diesel is ready for a nap!
Haha so true! Sounds like Diesel gets plenty of free exercise with the squirrels every day!
Thanks! May I ask when you are away did you just let him play in the pen ?
Love the videos! I have a 3 month old dobbie and my biggest issue is bitting
Get a Dog a nice juicy bone in its cage
We went through this too. Try diluting white vinegar with water and spray on anything you don’t want your dobie to bite including your arms lol. Our trainer suggested this and it was helpful. hang tight it gets better as they mature
Puppy biting sure isn't an uncommon problem, but definitely one you want to "nip in the bud". This video on puppy biting should help: www.dobermanplanet.com/how-to-get-a-doberman-puppy-to-stop-biting. Best of success to you!
Don't need to have a dog to watch you (I have a apbt!), your show is pure entertainment by itself
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
I would sell a kidney to get my guy to use a treadmill lol my legs are tired
When I saw the word lazy I knew this video is for me 😂😂😂❤
Thank you for the upload John. My general opinion is if you’re lazy, don’t get a Dobie!
Just came back from a two hours hike in the Black Forest. My boys are finally a bit tired 😉
i love how they act tired and then all of a sudden have the energy once they get home
@@miguelcartagena8901 🤣🤣🤣 have we met? Yes, so they are my dorky boys. I love them to bits ❤️
The Black Forest looks like such a beautiful area! Your Dobie is certainly blessed to have an owner that loves nature as much as you do!
@@DobermanPlanet oh the Black Forest is simply stunning. I moved here 20 years ago from Northern Germany and I am still in awe.
Btw, they’re two! I have two nutty Dobermans, both male, dorky, hyper active and everything else you describe too 😉😍
Would walking, running, or biking with your dog wearing a weighted vest work or would that cause joint issues?
The weighted vest is awesome. Yes you can use it but please make sure your dog is fit enough. Watch how much weights you use. Slowly work up to the weight and fitness you want.
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
Love the info. I'm thinking about getting a dobermann soon and honestly my biggest concern is if I get one and decide to crop the ears or if the breeders have already cropped them what the after care procedures are. Do you have any sort of guide for this?? A lot of people seem to have different methods but if I go through with something like this I want to do it right and I can't seem to find much guidance.
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
And I bet if you tell your Doberman that he is such a Beautiful Beast when he's running and talk to him about how Graceful and Sleek he is and how Lithely he moves, that dog would just try harder and harder to please you and wear himself out even faster!
No doubt! Kind words of encouragement go a long ways for people and pets!
Love the channel and hope to get a doberman someday
The Tennis Ball Launcher is to Kool!!!
Our Doby, Toby, loves chasing a laser light!
John u trying to tire out Arlo or yourself ?
Your videos are so helpful! We use stairs as exercise for our 2 toy fox terriers (since they were about 6 mo. old and are now 11 and 13) and that helps wear them out in the winter when it's too cold to go outside or on days it raining. We now have a 16 week old male doberman and he's been using stairs for his potty runs since we got him at 12 weeks. I'm reading conflicting reports about whether doberman puppies under 1 should even be doing stairs. He is really too heavy for me to carry (35 lbs). What are your thoughts? Thanks!
This channel is not only for doberman owners but also every dog owners
Wow thank you! Very helpful!
Took our dobie puppy to visit family after he'd had his second booster. He literally wore out 3 French bulldogs TWICE before we left. He only fell asleep on the car ride home. Three months old and 30 pounds of sheer nonstop monster.😂
Love ur channel I plan to get a Dobie soon only had a min pin
What’s the website for those collars
In the description under this video you'll see the link for the Fi collars and a coupon code exclusively for Doberman Planet watchers! th-cam.com/video/PxLHLXyynyI/w-d-xo.html
The flirt pole has been a godsend for me and my dog, Max! Great video. 👍🏻👍🏻
So glad to hear Max enjoys playing with his flirt pole! I bet it's entertaining to watch him, too. Thanks for your compliments!
Flirt pole is the best invention ever. We are lazy owners, but we do work him every day…. Just lazily, and the flirt pole is great for it 😂
Love this channel and content! Adding 1 additional way to exercise your Doberman….get a second Doberman 🤦🏻♀️🤪😁.
Hey I’m looking for a Doberman and I live in Canada and can’t find one what do I do
Although we can't recommend specific breeders, send us a message on Facebook or Instagram and we can point you in the direction of some great resources that'll help you find the perfect fit!
@@DobermanPlanet and it was on Facebook messenger
Came on TH-cam to look up Doberman exercises and found this video… you read my mind 😂😂
Oh perfect, Shravan! If you search "exercise" in our channel's search bar, there are other great videos like fun activities to do with your Doberman that you might enjoy seeing as well!
How old is your dog..one on the treadmill?
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
Where did you get the Spring pole? Is it something you made yourself?
I have an atv on my farm that I eventually want my puppy to follow me while I ride how could I go about training that with a dobie?
I hurt my knee pretty badly and that flirt pole saved my sanity with my doberman!
What do you wash your dobies with?
What about Lazer pointer?
These things are not really so much lazy ideas of exercising one's dog, as they are very helpful ways to the handicapped such as myself. BTW if you stick the KONG ball on a long sturdy enough dowel, you can fling that thing pretty far afield.
Thanks for pointing that out, Kacee! You're absolutely right, these exercise ideas could be a life-saver for a person in your situation. Especially since Doberman's don't "let-up" any energy for people with handicaps and they still have to get their exercise in one way or another. That's great to know about the KONG ball trick, too!
What treadmill do you have
This video is funny 😂😂😂 love it❤
Does this emf cause cancer like the ear pods for the iphone?
I used to do the bike thing with a doberman and I used to run about 10 miles per day. You bring a doberman on a 10 mile run, get them in a pool and a 15 mile bike ride, that dog is done for the day.
I have to use my golf cart to run my dobi Banelli 😂
Laser pointer pointed on the floor drives them crazy chasing it around.
My dog loves a laser pointer. You just have to make sure the dog doesn’t have to pee because nose to the ground could cause accidents with puppies.
A laser pointer is a great idea for some "lazy" exercise on the owner's part!
I’ll add two more
1. Bring your Doberman to the dog park always work they play and run until the can’t any more and help a lot with they’re anxiety
2 having another dog is something that works aswell they’ll would make each other tired 👍🏼 and help when you have to go away for a few days they’ll make each other company
I am said Lazy person but only lazy to my pup. We go for two 2 hour hikes, runs and then he runs freely at a turf field for an hour...... 😂 Still never tired..... ironically we go for bike rides on rainy days......he pulls me the entire way
hello,, can you please visit my Animal channel, would be really helpful please, i need the support, thanks a lot,
We go on a bike ride but i can't let her off leash so i use chain attached to the bike's neck and PLEASE USE ONLY HARNESSES
She loves to pull the bike till she can't anymore and then walks with it
Biking takes only 45 minutes to tire out a 10 month old puppy
Please be safe 😇
Let him/her only if you can control the bike!!!!
How can I get my dog to walk on the my treadmill? Or do I need to buy a doggy treadmill?
- *No one gives me a treat when I am running on the treadmill* 🧐😅
I tried bike riding while holding dobi on the leash...he saw a squirrel...guess what happened 😂
I do scent games with my jack russell when its shitty outside
Great video but alluding to your end of the video summary I think humans are just like Doberman and need to exercise daily otherwise we get fat anxious and lazy with fragile mental health 👀
I’m really confused on the whole Arlo retirement thing. After that video, it didn’t seem like anything changed.
We've been using old footage of Arlo, that's probably why. Still going through hosting applications, though, so you'll see some definitive changes with others and their Dobies being featured on the channel soon!
Oh gotcha. Thank you for the explanation
Have a Doberman he full of energy he never calms down so we just let him bark at Radom things good video ❤️
So glad you enjoyed the video, Kourey! Having lots of exercise makes for a tired dog and would probably help with the barking problem. Dobies do have a ton of energy!
