Maybe because that’s what social media likes to tell us is normal, when it’s not! Fights are normal, hard times are normal, giving up shouldn’t be. The world likes to tell us if we don’t feel 100% fulfilled and full of dopamine at all times we have a right to leave, when in reality marriage is so much more than just feelings. It’s a great commitment to sticking through the crap.

Sweet video guys. My husband and I had this only for about a year until baby #1 came. 10 years later, we have 4 and this existence seems like another lifetime. But when all my kids have spouses of their own and are living in their own little places, it'll be me and the old man again. I absolutely LOVE my children, but I'm looking forward to having that back again ♥️
Welll. They may all move back home for five years to pay off school loans and cars, then move back during Covid 17 months, then help seventeen days after surgery this year, then stay overnite regularly to take their dad to ballgames, or visit their sister and her kids. Ummm we only had fourteen and a half months and I thought the same thing after three kids. It’s fine, companionship, but at 42 years, nothing like that young love… so don’t wish this fun time away raising kids.

Loved this. My Wife and I got married in September 2023, after 5 years of living in separate countries (Covid and that), and whilst we're still adjusting to some of the changes, I would never swap the time I spend with her in our home, for anything I've ever experienced before. The cuddles at night, the interests she pays in my sports, my video games, my tv shows. The meals we share or the walks we go on. It's like I've found a better version of myself, whom loves me, wants to help improve me whilst also supporting who I currently am, and who will continue to provide for me for the rest of time and beyond. I grew up with parents that fought all of the time. The house was never safe or quiet. As I've gotten older and moved away from my toxic family dynamic I've begun to wonder what a healthy marriage looks like. To me marriage is always something loud, tumultuous, and violent. But I know that's not how it should be. I'm looking down a much better road now, one with a person who creates peace, love, and stability in my life. I want to be with him forever, but the fear of what I know marriage to be still lingers. Thank you for making this video. This is probably one of the best short films I’ve seen so far. I love the narrative. Now, I may be a bit biased, because I am still waiting for a wife, but regardless, you guys did such a great job!

This is so cute and well made! Especially some of the composition of the shots like the one with the kitchen being a frame on the right almost as if it was a picture frame separating the 2 halves of the shot. Great work!

This is beautiful. Happy for you guys. Too many people fall into the trap of thinking comfort like this means there is something wrong. Too many people think if it's not forever the honeymoon phase, it's not true love, and will run off to try to find greener grasses over and over. What you have there is true love. Cherish it.

@Matt Byrne I wanted you to know that I just love your film; in fact I have now watched it quite a few times. Your portrayal of “Married Life” is full of the kindness, acceptance and having fun together that all marriages should have. I also appreciated the fact that you both share all the “chores” that make up a modern marriage. So, while this is technically a “short”, it is long in wisdom (that many have, unfortunately, forgotten - or never learned in the first place!)
Thanks for making it - you brought a sense of comfort to this 71 year-old’s heart.

In recent years, the institution of marriage seems to be losing its popularity among many people. However, despite this trend, it is heartwarming to witness young couples still expressing great enthusiasm and happiness in tying the knot. It is a beautiful thing to see them embracing the joy in spending their lives together.

We have 4 children. Apart from there being less time to exercise and a lot more noise in the house, the video is still pretty accurate. :)

My Wife and I got married in September 2023, after 5 years of living in separate countries (Covid and that), and whilst we're still adjusting to some of the changes, I would never swap the time I spend with her in our home, for anything I've ever experienced before.
The cuddles at night, the interests she pays in my sports, my video games, my tv shows. The meals we share or the walks we go on.
It's like I've found a better version of myself, whom loves me, wants to help improve me whilst also supporting who I currently am, and who will continue to provide for me for the rest of time and beyond.

I grew up with parents that fought all of the time. The house was never safe or quiet. As I've gotten older and moved away from my toxic family dynamic I've begun to wonder what a healthy marriage looks like. To me marriage is always something loud, tumultuous, and violent. But I know that's not how it should be. I'm looking down a much better road now, one with a person who creates peace, love, and stability in my life. I want to be with him forever, but the fear of what I know marriage to be still lingers. Thank you for making this video. It's helped me to realize that being married can be a wonderful and peaceful thing. That it is good and not something to fear.
