  • I take a cheap plastic skeleton and modify it so I can pose it more realistically.

    Scary Larry here. For 16 years I was the general manager of the largest (30 acres) haunted attraction in Rhode Island called "Trails To Terror." For these type skeletons we would usually just drill some holes & zip-tie the joints together. For the heavy duty epoxy skeletons (like in medical schools), I'd drill them & screw them together with 4" sheet rock or deck screws. This worked very well with "corpsified" skeletons as you didn't want them to be reposed. That would possible damage the corpsifiaction. Of course on the plastic ones, you have to get the arm of leg to stay in a pose. Fishing line, bendable wire or simply screwing the appendage to something in the scene works for that.

    This made me laugh out loud or giggled most of the way thru- did an excellent job with that skeleton - just those few surgical adjustments clearly helped a great deal , loved the sound effects

    Lol I’m an X-ray tech and I loved the hospital trip. I get really annoyed when store bought skeletons don’t even articulate correctly. It’s bad enough that the spine and ribs are totally wrong but I like how you fixed those issues.
    My friend is a nurse and for some odd reason she had a full size anatomically correct articulated skeleton that she graciously gave me. It’s super heavy… generally used in classrooms and such but I have made some cool setups with the guy. I just can’t move him around a lot.
    Remember the old GI Joe action figures? They used rubber bands in the shoulder and hip joints.

      Glad you enjoyed. I’ve noticed this year a few newer skeletons that have ball joints for the shoulders and hips. It’s better, but still limited. Still perfectly straight, immovable spines though.

  • @Terry2868
    @Terry2868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why not take the smallest ball off round arm one then use garden gate springs.this way you get movement in any way

    • @ImNotBoredImCreative
      @ImNotBoredImCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Springs are a clever idea. I wonder if I’d have a difficult time keeping it in a pose. Maybe if the spring wasn’t to strong. I’ll give it a try sometime.

      @@ImNotBoredImCreative depending on pose climbing a house tree ladder would have no problem.if you wanted a free standing poses you could use a 10lb fishing line as it would be hard to see in the dark or day time 👍🏻

    this is wonderful and very helpful. There must be a way to make the limbs stay in place. Like, arms up for example or knees bend etc
    I want to use one skeleton as the body to a cheap witch prop . One of those Fraser Hill Farm witches that are nothing but a head on a pole. By using a skeleton underneath the fabric it allows the witch prop to have movement and be pose, sitting down etc
    I will use this video to guide me but, do you have Any suggestion how to put it together?

    • @ImNotBoredImCreative
      @ImNotBoredImCreative  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on what you need it to do. If the joints never need to move, you can pose the body how you want and glue the joints using 2part epoxy (or a lot of hot glue). I’ve also seen people use screws to fix the joints in place. You can tighten them to hold it in place and loosen it when you want change the pose.
