    I enjoyed your helpful hints! This isn’t a complaint...just a suggestion.
    To save time, have you considered doing prep work while watching TV? I noticed you spent a lot of time putting things in piles and rearranging them. You could:
    ...put your stickers on the boards and envelopes ahead of time...even getting family members involved
    ...write your personal notes ahead of time (leaving space for their name)
    ...have your washi tape cut and stuck to a plastic protector

      I was thinking exactly this. I loved watching this but seems like more money and time is spend on packaging and prepping the sale than the card itself.
      Pre-do the envelopes, Make one side of the thank you cards delaminated/printable paper that way you can print the thank you side of the cards, Get a stamps for the "thank you", "do not bend" and "yay" on the envelopes or better yet, get the envelopes made this way from a packaging company.

    I’m impressed! You’re product and approach are opposite to mine so I admire your efficiency. My process uses 100% re-used packing materials, never new store-bought. I sell heavy pottery and dishes so the time spent wrapping can be an hour. And sourcing used bubble wrap and boxes takes time as well. But it’s worth it, I want to walk lightly. Actually, I do buy packing tape for the exterior box. Interior wrapping is tied with twine and fabric strips.

      hi there, thank you for the nice compliment! Most of my cards I have ordered through a local printer. However, for new designs I like to make the cards with the Canon Pixma Pro until I know if they are going to sell or not. I have been able to get accurate colors, but it was a LOT of trial and error. The thing that made the most difference for me was choosing the correct paper type in the print settings menu. Hope this helps and good luck!

    May I ask a question? Wondering after all the packaging is done, what the profit is? I'm researching on how to start my Etsy store, but I'm concerned with what the end profit will be after supplies, packaging and shipping. Any advice is appreciated!

    • @karameader156
      @karameader156 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There will always be a start up cost using this video as an example if you had to buy the printer, storage computer programs ECT. and to get started from there how pricing is figured out is pretty simple you divide the cost by the count so say the card stock she uses is 5 dollars a pack and there's 50 sheets per pac so divide cost of 5 dollars by the count of 50 it comes out to .10 so every peice of card stock she uses is ten cents towards the cards appear to use two sheets each. so every card made uses 20 cents in supplies plus glue and ink ECT. For simplicity sake let's say every product is 10 cents so you have two sheets for the card, the shipping box, the shipping label, the inner chipboard, the thank you note, business card, and it appeared there was a clear protective covering on the card. So that's 8 items used at ten cents a peice so it costs 80 cents plus enough to cushion the supplies like printer ink glue the washi tape ECT so round it up to a dollar used to make each card so she wants to profit 2 dollars from each card sold she can then add her cost of 1 dollar to that so in this scenario she would charge 3 dollars per card hope that makes sense its literally just sitting down and crunching numbers this applies to any type of bussiness

So sending a box out (plus a free bonus gift, notebook and pen set and a bookmark), it's pricey to mail. Just trying to find ways around the high price of postage.

    Love how you package these!
    It seems like quite a big expense though? All the little extras add up? I’d love to add more to my packaging but it takes up a huge portion of profit.

    • @bybrie

      Thank you for the nice compliment! There is an expense, but that expense add values to the packaging which I value. There is still a profit to be made, so I think it's a win-win.

    Hey, I'm shipping stickers and plan on using rigid mailers since I don't want them to bend. How much did you pay for shipping?

    • @bybrie
      @bybrie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, that's awesome to hear! Shipping prices will vary depending on location, but I have Etsy calculate the shipping costs. You can do this in your listing settings. There's an option to have Etsy calculate shipping based on the weight and dimensions of your package.

      hi there, and thank you for the nice compliment! I primarily use my pixma pro 100 to create my stickers for my shop. I will occasionally use the pixma pro for cards when I am testing out a new design and I don't want to have to commit to a lot of inventory in case it doesn't sell as well as I hoped!

    • @bybrie

    and you also get a backing board... but I noticed when you picked up your orders
    it also has a backing board already in it...Right? So do you need 2 backing boards?

    • @bybrie
      @bybrie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I allow myself 1-3 business days for orders to be shipped out. I like to ship them within 1-2 business days but sometimes a third day is needed, so it's nice to have the cushion. Hope this answers your question!

  • @simplemortal5068

    This is super cute! I like how careful you are, only thing I’ll suggest it’s that I think you are using way too much paper that’s probably gonna be on a trash can, an so the plastic bag can be replaced for a paper one?
    Just random thoughts, great video!

    • @bybrie
      @bybrie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks for the comment. The reason that I use the plastic bag is so that if the packaged gets wet, the card is protected. If I was going to switch, I would just get rid of the plastic bag completely, but the card would be at risk of being damaged.

      If there's a point where I am not able to hand write each thank you note, I will include a thank you note with the message printed on the card. Then, I can either personalize by adding their name to the note or omit all together.

      Jibooty_army hmm, I don’t really know what Royal Mail is, sorry! The “printer” you see me using for the labels is called a thermal printer and doesn’t use ink, which is nice! You aren’t required to purchase shipping labels through Etsy, but if you do, you get a discount.

    • @bybrie
      @bybrie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello! To ship out these cards via USPS the shipping is close to ~$3.00 (with Etsy shipping discounts). Of course, every order is different, but I'd say that's pretty average for a 3oz package with dimensions of 8x6x1.
