wish i got started on this recovery project sooner, the campaign dates just passed. still used the twitter post, hope it works! thanks for your work here, this suucks.
I’ve messaged SanDisk twice now about mine failing, no response at all. Thanks for this. I’ll give it a try. Once it’s been recovered is there anyway of repairing the drive, or would that be total madness to even consider using it again. Thanks again.
I managed to get my video files off the ssd and onto my pc, but when I tried to reformat the drive it wouldn’t delete the data on there. Basically my once 1tb drive remained a 38gb drive. I haven’t got the cash to buy a new drive yet, to reinstall my files onto.
Somewhat annoyingly (I am sorry) the answer is that after you have applied the new firmware update.. your drive is PROBABLY fine. As although many users have reported that their drives now function, it is not a clean sweep and there are some users who still report that their drive is unstable. Sorry bud
@@nascomparesYes , I wonder if some people are expecting the Firmware Update to recover and repair the original file system ... I would only expect it to not play up again BTW I have a E30 1Tb type and I opened it up to see whats inside and I found a M.2 with NO thermal protection...🤣
Your file system is likely not damaged. This firmware update is purely PR to distract from faulty manufacturing. The actual problem is a bad soldering job on the power management chip and is easily repaired. Your data is likely 100% in tact, and easily recovered once this chip is properly reflowed. In fact you could continue to use the SSD after repair, (although not advised), as it has nothing to do with the actual memory chip. th-cam.com/video/Lj_JozUx9GU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nDCh77F-k6PB_HIE
My Sandisk Extreme 1 Tb v2 disk died. Disk Utility does not see the disk, EasyUS also does not see the disk, Sandisk Security says that there are no volumes. I tried it on 4 MacBooks with a dozen cables and through adapters. I tried connecting to Windows. Disk Manager also shows that there are no volumes. The disk is dead. I have 12 of the same disks of this model (1 Tb v2) and I can’t figure out what to do with all this now. I put backup copies of all data on disks, after which I reinstall MacOs every few months. I very rarely return to copies. That is, a dead disc was most likely used for recording only once. Before this, at the beginning of the year, I lost data on one of the disks of the same model - the disk was visible, but could not be mounted, so I had to format it. It was definitely not this dead disk. That is, the problem for me personally has already affected 2 disks out of 12. SanDisk Extreme 1 Tb V2 SSDs are also problematic. My opinion is that there is some kind of problem with the compatibility of the disk firmware with the latest versions of MacOS. If so, no one will ever fix the problem, since Apple is not interested in SanDisk disk problems at all.
@@wcsdiariesThis is the only real solution: th-cam.com/video/Lj_JozUx9GU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nDCh77F-k6PB_HIE If you can find someone to reflow the power management chip, you should be able to recover the data no problem. “data recovery service” is probably A LOT more expensive then a simple single chip reflow. Those recovery guys know how much you want your data back and are willing to charge accordingly, rather than the pricing it as the cost of their labor. Shop around.
This is some Extreme paid promotion clickbait nonsense. The SanDisk Extreme SSD problem is 100% physical and no amount recovery software is going to convince a broken circuit to magically mount to the system.

Did you ever figure it out? I have the same issue and am panicking bc I'm in the middle of a project

I've heard DMDE can be used for data recovery. You ever use that?@@MetalGuru785
Does you know if the EaseUS offer was limited, because I have received a code yet. Thanks
Would anybody no if there is a recall for these hard drives where i can get a refund?
So to be clear on this issue, as some have reported having trouble after the firmware update,
Is the drive then ok after a full update and reformat ?
