Is it zcam e2-M4? Can it be, that this issue with bcpmc4k is just, you didnt find some funktion setup in menu of the camera? Because i look some other video with that lens and camera and they look well
Thanks for the review. I do think, however, that the GH5 footage with the Vazen is quite excellent, better color and just as sharp if not sharper than Z Cam, at least as far as I can see on TH-cam. Easier workflow, more features in camera, works beautifully with Atomos, etc. Low-light noise at high ISOs with the Z Cam is pretty amazing though. Food for thought. More reasons not to pop for a BMPCC! Nice to see that the GH5 still holds its own. Now, for a Vazen...!
Hi bro, what setting you use for Blackmagic ? DCI still got that cropped ? Im gonna buy vazen but i still love bmp4k. Do you try dci full sensor and desequense in post ?
Hey man, do you think that using the Varen 40mm anamorphic with the Pocket 4k, would still have the same issue if I were to use a recorder, and use it instead to do the unsqueeze? It would be a great way to avoid the crop of the Pocket 4k right?
alain mbouche The issue isn’t the recording medium, it’s the way the BMPCC4K captures on the sensor. Apparently the ZCAM is 3mm taller so your squeezed image ends up using more of a larger sensor. Also BMPCC4K supposedly gives up height when using the anamorphic squeeze mode. So it will always look soft with this lens due to sensor size and how they further crop into the sensor.
Bro, thank you for the information.... I was thinking about selling my red so I can set up for a vazen M43, but now that I have hope for a ff Vazen anamorphic lens I will just wait😃
Good job, again. Google came up short on any information about a Vazen FF anamorphic. Hope you're right but doesn't seem very likely, unless you have a source within the company it self. It's been 4 months also, so. The Atlas lenses only have a 31mm image circle, so the cheapest one's so far would be the Apollos 60mm, and 100mm. The Apollo 40mm only manage S35, and these would set set you back 12k a piece, which is relatively cheap, but I guess you knew this already. How does 8K internal Prores RAW with an Apollo 60mm sound? Have a nice one
Mario Bregieira 1.8x squeeze on a 16:9 sensor will result in a way to tight aspect ratio and if I crop that down it will get me at the same result as if shooting 2.8k 4/3
@@blkshprd I think Garras must be joking about using a 6.5mm lens to get a wider field of view. But these are true anamorphic lenses, not gimmicks or little 1.33x squeeze lenses that don't have anamorphic aesthetic.
Hey man, looks great. I have a BM Pocket 4k anamorphic set up. This was interesting though. I am thinking of Shooting a film in Barcelona this year. DM me your details
Why is croped in the BMPCC4k? You did something wrong... Doesnt make any sense. The bmpcc4k sensor is a bit bigger than the GH5 so... I think the problem could be you use some resolution on the 4k that cropped the image.
@@Sr7Sr7Sr7 make. Art. Now just upload a video with this lenses in a poket camera. And I watched a lot of nice videos with the poket and this lenses. But yeah, is true, the 4:3 sensor is a little better for anamorphic
Helí Suárez Maybe you’re right, but I don’t know. The BMPCC4K will have it’s smaller 4:3 area of the image circle than the ZCam will. The image circle size or distance doesn’t change between cameras (both are MFT), so an (effectively as far as anamorphic mode is concerned) smaller sensor means it would be effectively cropping in on that image circle, hence less field of view. Though the softness does seem a bit exaggerated. Yes, the BMPCC4K shoots on what is effectively a smaller sensor (10mm tall vs 13mm tall because of the height difference between the 16:9 and 4:3 sensors) and also a lower resolution (2880x2160 vs. 3696x2772). But the BMPCC4K has BRAW and records that anamorphic mode up to 80fps vs. the E2’s ProRes at up to 60fps. So it’s pure quality vs. better slow motion and workflow.
So, yeah correct for the most part and don't want to say oh you are wrong, but no anamorphic being the cinematic look personally i feel like that statement is invalid a lot of films are also shot on spherical glass such as, ultra prime , master primes, hawks ect so no anamorphic doest make it cinematic I've seen some films shot in scoop that look like shit. its in the lighting dude yea sure you get wide view with a tight look. but that is not what makes it cinematic. 1917 was shot on arrir signature primes joker and parasite shot on DNA primes. Bladerunner 2049 shot on master primes its not on anamorphic. Thats part of the story the look. but using ano doesn't make your picture more cinematic.
You killed it dude! Can't wait to see what you're bringing to the table in 2020. Let's pump up that content!
Turn Lemons 2 Lemonade thanks a lot, you pumped me up so be sure 2020 will be masive! 🤘
dude...super helpful vid. was about to pull the trigger on the Vazen with a BMPCC4k setup. So glad I watched this first. gonna pickup the E2
I’m currently in the same situation. Which zcam did you get? Which e2 ? Do they have 12 bit?
Great video! May i know which zcam you used for the lens?
question for you!! Was this before the "Anamorphic Mode" was released for the BMPCC4k?
Nope, I had the anamorphic mode on the pocket.
Man those shots on the zcam look amazing!! Well done
Amazing Review, thank you for putting this together! Been excited to hear your thoughts and overall experience!!

Hi. What kind of ZCam did you use? ZCams using different lens mount. Thax.
Would love to see a longer clip of what u shot with the Z Cam and Vazen combo
chipie khonje I’ll try to do that 💪
@@AlexDon Would be great if you can upload the kid playing with paper aeroplane video.
Loooove the z cam. Do you think the SLR Magic 35 2x anamorphot would work well on the z cam? I'm interested in that!
Hayden Goldsworthy slr magic anamorphic lenses are not that good. What I would do: buy a speedbooster to ef and get a sirui anamorphic lens
@@AlexDon yeah scratch all that, I'm getting this haha
What do you think about vazen 40mm rf mount with canon c70
Is it possible to get an adapter for Sony E-Mount?

What is the highest fps you can shoot on Z cam E2 in anamorphic mode ?
Awesome review! Congrats, man!
What camera and lens you’re using of taking this video? It really lovely.
The Final Battle the talking part was shot with pocket 4k
Alexandru Don May I know the kind of lens? TIA
Great vid 👍🏼 - I have a Aivascope 1.5x adapter + Nikon 50mm on A7iii... Have you tried the e2f6?

To be honest at this point none of them, I would go for the FF version If I had the money
@@AlexDon Thanks for the feedback. ❤️
If you shoot in 4K 16:9, Wont crop right? And continues soft or in this option is sharper?
Great video, thanks for sharing all your finding
Cant wait for Vazen Full Frame + ZCAM F6!
Can the Vazen work on the Bmpcc6k?

what setting on the z cam have you tried with the Vazen 40 mm ( prores, c4k...)?

Justin Vaseur thanks a lot, I’m happy you like it!

Denis and Maggie thanks a lot, 🙏🙏
You could’ve just desqueezed the pocket 4K manually in post & not lost any resolution.
You still have to crop in tho ? You’ll lose some resolution no?
chris fox yes
But you must shoot in 4k with 16:9 sensor in your pocket 4k to dont crop bro.. and desqueeze in post

Alexandru Don im looking for an anamorphic lens for my pocket 4k.. in your opinion, which one is the best?
Some stupid will only say we shouldnt shoot an anamorphic on f4 u get d best results on f4 sharpness and total lens performance wise.
Why is BMPCC4K soooooooo red!!!!! Ugh.
From what I can see, these are just gimmics. I just use a 6.5 mm to get a full frame 174 deg. Field of view and it doesn't crop out.
I'm a newbie - do you mind expanding on this? what is the 6.5mm referring to? thanks
@@blkshprd I think Garras must be joking about using a 6.5mm lens to get a wider field of view. But these are true anamorphic lenses, not gimmicks or little 1.33x squeeze lenses that don't have anamorphic aesthetic.
4:36 I think the girls fall in the wrong side)
The anamorphic factor has nothing to do with final aspect ratio or letterbox framing. It‘s the impression you create.

Helí Suárez the pocket 4K has a slightly wider sensor (by like 100 pixels) but the GH5 is a full 4:3 sensor. The pocket 4K sucks for anamorphic
Also every Pocket video you find with this lens will appear similarly soft. It’s definitely the camera.
