i allways wondered about the job as a conductor, no one ever watches the guy, everyone are following their note... in what way are a conductor leading the charge if no one even look at him? i would be willing to bet we wouldn't notice on the music itself if he was there or not, can anyone explain this for me with logic?
You mean percussion? Also percussion is usually in the back because the arrangement of an orchestra goes from quietest in the front to loudest (Percussion) In the back
I'm having a nerd out with this performance, not just from a One Piece stand point but from a music nerd stand point. Each drum present in at the front are from different cultures: taiko drum (japan), congo drum (cuba), bongo drum (afro-cuban), snare drum (swiss), timpani (italy), wood blocks (chinese). Five drums from different cultures that have their own unique sounds combined together to make a unified beat for the 'drums of liberation' theme. That is an amazing level of depth to this theme.
A fair amount of misinformation here. Congas and bongos are both afro-cuban. The snare drum doesn't originate from any specific country, and timps aren't italian, only their name is. I agree that the variety of percussion is cool, but that's just how almost any percussion-heavy orchestral piece works. Percussion in general is just full of different cultures; unless the composer intentionally chooses everything from one culture, it'll just naturally have lots of variety.
@@xmobstersal4167 the rhythm is somewhat similar to a samba, I'd say it's samba-esque. But a true samba would need to have something mimicing the important instruments in a samba; most importantly the Surdo, pandeiro/caixa, and repinique, but this doesn't really do any samba rhythms from those instruments. Overall I don't think this necessarily falls into one specific style. I'd honestly say overall this is more of a march, but I can definitely hear some samba qualities to it. Sorry that I can't give a concrete answer to your question lmao.
@@itsSmiv haha you did great I appreciate it. My drum instructor told me to pick up a samba jam to learn as it will "open doors" . As a one piece lover this song came to mind immediately, I think I can convince him it's close enough 😅
@@xmobstersal4167 that might be a little tough to convince him on lmaoo, but i hope he accepts it, that'd be cool. You could always tweak it a little bit to make it even more samba-like. The surdo is basically a Brazilian bass drum, so you could change the bass drum part to be more of a surdo groove. Either just light hits on each beat, or dotted 8th + 16th note for each beat. I'd recommend the latter. The most important thing for making the groove sound like a samba, though, is to dampen the hits (place a hand on the drum head while you hit it) for beats 1+3, and do undampened hits for beats 2+4. Maybe if you tell your teacher that you'd add that in, it might convince him a little more. Hope this helps!
Never seen an orchestra with the drums upfront before that must have been interesting for everyone as the drums would now be on the opposite side they’re used to
It’s so interesting, I assume it’s to stage the drums in front of the crowd so it’s not only louder and more intense, but also framed in the front so the audience’s view is full of drums.
