I dont think the solution could be as simple as that. They who design the massive aircrafts can't think of such easy solution. It invovles aerodynamics. Turbulence and drag is always be a big issue. Material science and technology is one another side still to be developed.

Why put some sort of special wired on out side of the engine so birds want get sucked into the engine I think makes sense.
I have thought of suggesting this to the aviation authorities too. I think there may be some issue with a reduction in air intake though.

the issue with flight control must have been that the pilot was stoned at take off.
The C-17 is actually capable of doing all those extreme close-to-ground maneuvers, but any pilot who did them would be immediately grounded.
