The B52 probably cost between $100 million and $200 million a copy. It’s replacement, the B2, 5 billion. No wonder why they want to keep these relics in the air till 2050. Great aircraft hope they invest the necessary funds to keep them modern.

Fun fact: Morón Air Base was an abort landing site for Americas space shuttle although no Transoceanic Abort Landings had to be done in the 135 missions of the shuttle.

I lived in upstate NY when Rome AFB was still active in 1989, 90. B52s flew over the area often. A beast of an aircraft for sure.
