It’s super petty to enforce it when it was a tap in and another player still has an opportunity to putt. Unless this is the Ryder Cup (it’s not), it’s unnecessary negative energy to enforce something that doesn’t give that team an advantage. Everyone mad at Kirk is only mildly justifiable. A rule is a rule. Getting mad at someone wanting to enforce a rule for a 30k tournament, is like getting mad at referees enforcing rules in any game.
Clearly it’s a stupid rule, but it is a rule. The rule exists because sinking the putt for 5 would take off some of the pressure on the prior putt, giving the team a small mental advantage.
Yeah, it would not be fun playing with Kirk if he’s like this in pickup games. But in competition, you should know the rules.

Kirk is arguing official PGA rules in a scramble tournament. Scramble is not an official game of golf and has no set rules in the PGA rule book. Its EXTREMELY petty and technically after the first ball was hit, he should have left it and let the other guy hit instead of putting it in.
Its like arguing off sides in a friends 2 hand touch football game. Funny thing is, Kirk broke the rules moments later by picking up his ball without marking it. Again, his ego is so fragile he ruined the game to try and win.

    • @ob9312

Technically neither of them are right, there aren't official rules for scramble, it's agreed before the round. I would say it's petty to say that shot putted in for 5 ends their hole. Having said that, I've seen lots of scrambles on TH-cam that do apply that rule. Basically, neither of them are right or wrong as no rule was determined, but the guy in red is acting like a complete bellend
