See this is why I hate reviews. I've put this book off for ages same with tommyknockers because of how bad people say it is but when you mentioned Aliens living in rectums I actually smiled with excitement 🤣 I love anything to do with Aliens
Ha! This one will push your love of aliens to the limit!
I've had Dreamcatcher with me since I was three and the movie came out. It will always be one of my favorites. I found the book when I was 13. I enjoyed Duddits more as human. I love the characters and their dynamics. The powers and saving the world. The shit weasels are awesome. Underrated.
There is a lot of good stuff here - particularly the dynamic between the characters. I just find it goes off the rails a bit!
I feel the same way about Dreamcatcher that I feel about St. Anger. Not great but still some good highlights that hook you in.
Yes! The St Anger snare drum is the percussion equivalent of a shit weasel
My favourite. The group in the novel is one of the best groups king wrote. It has comedy, horror, thriller and Derry! And shit weasels are fucking brilliant!
😂 I love hearing people get passionate about the ones most others dislike. I’m with you on the friendship group, they were expertly drawn
Ah, oxycontin ... that takes me back! And LOL at the Hungarian edition. Some foreign covers, especially olders ones, are really bizarre (including the first Dutch edition of Salem's Lot.)
That Hungarian edition cracks me up every time - he just likes an angry office worker who's discovered the printer is broken for the second time this week
Your comment gave me a chuckle 😃 Oxycontin... the breakfast of my youth, haha. Don't do drugs kids, mkay.
Great review again Dave.I'll always have a soft spot for this book and St.Anger. But tractors .....fucking tractors........
Amen brother!
❤❤❤❤ just bought the book looking forward to reading it
Nice! Enjoy!
I actually start off all my stories 'long hand'. After some chapters are written down and I feel there is momentum (worth writing even with pen and paper), I type it into a Word file and continue from there with a keyboard. Otherwise it remains an unfinished story in my notebook.
Nice! Everyone has a different way of getting in their writing groove
Best part of the book is when Jonesy goes back to Derry and we get to see the plaque from the Losers Club. And the graffiti for Pennywise lives!
I did enjoy that part a lot!
The most escitological piece of fiction I have ever read. I actually really enjoyed this. The Jonesy/Mr.Gray scenes were brilliant.
I liked it way more on reread - the second half still loses me though 🤷🏻♂️
Aww c'mon don't shit on Dreamcatcher. I love Dreamcatcher.
Sorry! Just speaking my truth! I respect your love for it though 😊
Dreamcatcher is fantastic up until the point where it cuts to the Army general. This is where I get lost and lose interest. I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but can usually keep up with what's happening!
The four guys in the woods cabin and the childhood scenes with Dudz make me laugh constantly. There's just something about the characters that makes me smile, maybe it's because they are so pessimistic and vulgar!
I've not stopped trying though. Actually started it again recently and have just gotten to the part where Jonesy encounters the Grey Alien. Hoping to get through the next stage and enjoy the ending.
Nice. The core four pals here are excellent
I love the comparison to st anger for this book. They both came out around the same time both were going through transitions (metallica was going through their therapy and had a new bass player, King obviously had the accident) They’re both kind of universally hated. bonus points for that one very good comparison.
in both instances, I like parts of both of them, but then I also really dislike parts of both of them (Shit weasels, invisible kid , kind of the same thing to me)
I didn’t like how at the end of the novel IT they don’t remember themselves, there’s a part where Mike and Bill don’t even remember each other‘s names hardly , but , I guess they had time to get that plaque together that’s at the end of Dreamcatcher.
Good point about the plaque, I’d never thought of that!
And yeah, the St Anger comp is pretty good, right?! Dreamcatcher has a better snare sound though 😂
I hope this gets a remake. If it does, I would like A24 to adapt it. My fancast is
Robert Downey Jr - Henry
Joaquin Phoenix - jonesy
Ryan Reynolds - Beaver
Tom Hardy - Duddits
Chris Pratt - Pete
Col Abraham Curtis - Keith David
interesting casting!
Lol
@@chesterbrooks3606 Is it the casting?
@@ericcartman7361 yeah Ryan Reynolds as beaver.
@@ericcartman7361 would be funny to see him wash down the drain
I always like to go to the bad Stephen King books, cuz they're not as talked about, so I kinda wanna see how bat shit, or this case, alien shit, crazy it gets
Lol, you get ACTUAL shit here...and shit weasels!
Hey man I have an idea when you come to the spoilers section if you think that if someone who has see the movie or TV adaptations of a book. Say if spoiler section is suitable or not
Oh interesting - I'll have a think on that. I am pondering the idea of doing 19 reasons to watch the various adaptations once I get done with the books
My first KING book. and my fave thus far =D
Cool vid
Ha! Lots of better ones for you to explore next 😂
@@DaveReadsKing maybe that 😀
well just finished Colorado Kid, I enjoyed that one alot. And now 2/3 in on Salem`s lot :) @@DaveReadsKing
@davidjohnsen663 nice! You’re ploughing through them!
I already miss the world of salems, i miss ben mears and the rest. and the world i created in witch how i saw the town etc. thats the good thing about reading for me. I have a question, i just bought the shining, because it was the book that came after salems lot. would you recomend me to read books published from start to finish, or just jump to whatever i want? thats what i did before at least, but it could be fun, maybe i recognise characters better or whatever. hmm@@DaveReadsKing
I want to see Stephen King rewrite Dreamcatcher and re-release it as a "mirror novel" under the Richard Bachman pseudonym. Akin to Desperation and The Regulators.
Oh, nice idea!
This will always be my favourite king novel
Oh wow, nice - that’s quite an elite club you’re a member of 😅
@@DaveReadsKing one of the few that doesn't utterly hate it hahaha
I couldn’t make a video like this, because I wouldn’t be able to get past reason #1.
Fair enough!
Keep up the good work
Thanks!
I've read quite a few SKs by now however, I've been struggling to get through Dreamcatcher since I got it in 2007! :-/
I get that totally. It's one to grit your teeth on and plough through!
I like the audio book the guy that reads it has a great voice and I find i can get through books easier by listening to them. Maybe that will help you too 🙂
I don't know if I will be reading this book anytime soon 🤔😬
Ha! There are definitely lots more that are a better use of your time 😂
The Hungarian edition looks like a terribly awful thing I'd see in a nightmare where all my favourite book covers are shit
It’s an interesting design choice for sure 😂
PS isn't it just that horriffic snare sound people hate on St Anger?
I think plenty of trad metal folks also hate the lack of solos and the dodgy lyrics. I think it slams though - ropey snare sound aside
I've been looking forward to this shitshow! 😹
I'd be lying if I said the same! But I had fun making this one :-)
Omg that intro 🤣💨
Couldn't resist!
How to sell this book to someone "Shit Weasels" enough said lol
That’s certainly one way of doing it 😂
@@DaveReadsKing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The movie wasn't much better, Morgan Freeman wasting his talent!!
Lol, the ENTIRE CAST wasting their talent 😂
Movie was TERRIBLE.
Horrible book. 19 reasons NOT to read this book would be a good video. It's a 700 page fart joke.
I do think it has a few really strong passages, but you see the painkillers all over this. It's such an important book in his recovery though, kind of worth it just to get the full King journey back to health
@@DaveReadsKing He wrote it while in recovery. That much is obvious. But if someone other than King had written this would it have been accepted by a publisher?
@@titusmccarthy honestly, I think it would have found a home somewhere. And, if it hadn't been King, an editor might have had more influence on it!
@@DaveReadsKing It could've been shorter for sure. If I recall correctly it was 700 pages + and was a real challenge to get through. Comparable for me to The Tommyknockers which I never finished because it was such a slog. Even King admits Tommyknockers was a bad book and that he wrote it at the height of his substance abuse problem.
If the world that king created here is full of these sentimental character misfires, then I say let the aliens take over, wipe the lot of them out and start again. FartCatcher is a dud.
