Having had experience in both the Army and in marching bands, I don't know why everyone is crying about marching bands practicing drill. The purpose of marching drill is to move large bodies in formation efficiently, applies to military and band formations. Granted there are some mistakes in this video but give them a break.
I’ve been in color guard for the last two years and decided to March for my senior year and I only marched my freshman year before that so this is a great refresher
All bands have a different form and look with the way they do things and the way they want them done. 40° might be what your band does, but they are mostly different.
lmao. their feet don’t have to be at a 45 degree angle since this is MARCHING BAND not JROTC. chill out. but, they should be taught not to lock their knees or they could potentially pass out.
Lea Tutorials okay. it differs from school to school. but i was saying their feet DON’T need to be at a 45 since that’s how the school has taught them and a lot of other people were saying that their feet needed to be at a 45. most of the facing movements are really similar or almost the exact same to JROTC movements. marching band takes a lot of work, so i appreciate the work that you guys put in.
@@anthonyapuzzo6131 some do, some corps have a wider turn out roughly to 90, many corps still go parallel. And outside of the incredibly small world of just corps, most high schools and colleges have drastically different approaches including legs apart, or 3rd position. For a high school... there is no reason whatsoever to limit your students to protractor perfect 45degree angles.
same I started marching from concert this school year and I HATE marching, plus since I'm new I'm suuuper behind and it's really messing with my self confidence. It looks super cool but I'm just not used to it, I'll do concert band again next year if I can 🤠
I realize this is coming from a Blue Knight and not someone in hs/college marching band, but, despite looking strong, the guy in the middle in the glasses also looks extremely tense. Getting the shoulders back is good, but don't force it. You can still look strong without looking like you're in pain.
Idk if it is a necessity but it bugs me that when they go into forward March they don’t go up to their toes before marching…that’s what I was taught and not seeing that bugs me lol
In attention, your leg should not be joint at all. your hills will be joint, and your feet should look like a 'V' and your feet have to be at a 45 degree angle and also the way of your left haste, right haste and about is wrong
It looks so weird to see how they do it because I put one hand behind my back and yell VP cause were the vidor mighty pirates band of bands marching band and we take 30 inch steps, we open our hands and put them to our sides same thing with the chest out
If u r talkin abt forward and backwards marching then its not really hard but when you are on the practice field is when ur front is easy but going backwards is a little more hard but moving left and right is much harder im also a rookie too so ur not alone.
If you can teach an inexperienced high schooler to March corps in 2 weeks of band camp to a basic passable level, I guarantee you can make the transition to corps style in the same amount of time to a higher level as a college student with marching experience
And that’s the difference between a military style marching band and a more corps style aligned one. 45 degree splits do not matter at all to this style
They are probably in band camp or in band rehearsal. It's a video for gosh sake, nobody wants to get all dressed up for that. They are just teaching and showing the fundamentals, and technic of marching. With uniform it may be hard to show the way your legs are supposed to move if you have baggy band pants on.
Don't lock your knees...I learned that the hard way 😅
Same i passed out and fell over when i started marching again
what happend?
@@CallMeLudwig i passed out😩 lack of blood flow haha
@@sailorsavvy9690 i dosent even understand
@@CallMeLudwig when you lock your knees, your blood flow gets trapped in your legs, and not enough goes to your head

My teacher would say,"heels together toes apart."
SlippPlays aka 40 degree angle

yes
Some groups (like mine in particular) keep our feet parallel with toes and heels touching while at standstill and marching
Leslie Chavez it depends on what group you’re with

All millatry marching skills other than they dont have it at a 45

We got taught that our feet need to be at a 45 degree angel when flanking or traversing

klh.13 have you ever watched DCI, most of those corps halt at a 45.
Lol our marching band has us at 90 degrees but we always place against the giant 6A schools so I’m not complaining

Joined for the first time today and I’m never doing it again 💀🤚 Concert band has always been for me but not Marching!
It’s really hard work but it pays off big time if you stick with it! But if you just want to stick with concert band, that’s still awesome!

I’m a senior in a show style marching band which means we pop 90s when we March. I always wanted to know how do they March in corp style band
Oh lord this is Extremely helpful So thank you for that

Yeah and the girl with the dark hair is rolling on the outside of her foot, she gonna hurt something doing that
I love how he sais the platform and then touches a shoe and doesn't even have it in front of the camera..
Your feet have to be at a 45° angle and there gonna pass out from having there knees locked to like that too long
for attention instead of having our feet together we have them apart at a 45 degree angle
i was just thinking "when i was a young boy (so on)"
Firelord Azulon lol
That’s mostly why I joined marching band in the first place 💀
Muy bueno el tutorial, agradecería si subieran uno, haciendo una coreografía y explicando paso a paso, los movimientos

Marching band or JROTC?
Marching band. Dont worry i had to look at it for like 8 minutes to figure it out
so i am currently in a military marching band in highschool but the college i’m thinking of going to is a corp… is it hard to transition?

I want to learn even though the parade is today
Same
As an AFJROTC Cadet, this makes me cringe. Sadly enough, our marching band used to use old army BDU's
And that’s the difference between a military style marching band and a more corps style aligned one.
45 degree splits do not matter at all to this style
me trying to learn how to walk like seulgi :,)
My dumb butt missed first day parade practice 🙃. I only hold the banner but still
is this the same for all high schools?
Nah, mine makes us stand at a 45 degree angle in attention and we push off our left foot
How to march
Me having 3 weeks to prepare be4 band camp💀
This was lit
where is the uniform?

This is not marching marching band marching with 90s this is toll stepping
This is almost rotc 😐
this is not even proper parade
Wtf is this jezzzas
For the Kaiser!
You don’t march back

"Squad parade rest" 😂😂 they think there in the military they look stupid in civies
Crazy Bob128 what platoon where you in smartass
Marching band is often related to military
I bet you aren't even in the military or Army of any sorts
Bet you wouldn’t last 2 mintures.
