Dude, you’re my hero! I was able to fix the same hot water cartridge issue at my elderly dad‘s house in my sister‘s restroom with the help of your video. Thank you for making the video. I really appreciate it.
Sometimes in cold weather, you might have the type of faucet that drips automatically to keep any lines from freezing. You know how people say to leave your faucets drip during winter? Well, some faucets do that automatically on their own and then stop when the weather turns warm again. Anyway, the problem that you’re talking about, I’ve never had to deal with it before until the day came it happened to me for the first time ever. Now that I know why this happened, I’m glad to know I was in good company and this wasn’t just an isolated case. I don’t even know how common this is because it’s only happened to me once. Hopefully if it happens to anyone, it’s once in a lifetime!
I have a gold colored bathroom faucet that looks like that one. I took out the cartridge and looked closely at it, no cracks at all, I cleaned the bottom off with some CLR. Can it still be a bad cartridge, even though there aren't any cracks?
@@KAFKUBA Thank you, I found a tag on the cold water side that has a model number, because there is no name or logo on the faucet. Is it true that is the model number for the type of sink I have?
Hopefully the water company will wave any extra cost caused by this failure because you shouldn't have to pay for something that wasn't your fault. If you have a water running issue and your bill skyrockets, perhaps you can call the water company and have them way that extra cost. If they don't, then I personally would have to say call whoever overseas the utility companies and maybe even get a hold of the news crew in your area along with your state resources outside of those.
I’m having this same issue but at random in the last two weeks on my dual vanity the hot water faucet stopped on one where no water comes out, then the 2nd hot water faucet would not stop running and now nothing comes out, this morning the cold water will not stop running and I only have one faucet left to use. Then there is a weird knocking or tapping sound downstairs in the kitchen behind the kitchen sink inside of the wall. 😩
@@KAFKUBA I'm in the almost space position as you. Thank goodness no leaking yet but the valve won't shut the water 💦 off so had to manually close if with a screwdriver. What a pain plumbing.
@@KAFKUBA exactly my point! Open one valve and the entire thing colappses. They should teach every kid how to finance and plumb in school instead of all that useless crap haha.
You're in for some more hell eventually. That acordian tap isn't code, and you don't have the right fittings on it anyway. It's going to clog and leak. You really need to replace that whole drain from the p-trap on.

Yes the cracks are very hard to see sometimes...it could also be worn...I highly recommend the all brass cartridges over the plastic ones
Also. Usually the hot side fails but you should check both

@@sandybetts997 bring the old one in and ask the guy... they're pretty standard

@@pandanamin7104 amen!
Does that type come with a spring ? Mine looks exactly like that with no spring
I can't remember but I assume so... you have to have one
That drain trap looks rough
I have the exact same faucet, and the exact same problem.
So mine failed again within a year...make sure you buy brass replacements not the cheap plastic ones...they deteriorate quickly
Thinking the leak will stop on its own. Not good
Bro, awesome video and love the language, plumbing is a shit show is right!!
Thanks Josh!
It is a slow drip from the faucet.
I wanted to see you pop the top off with your screw driver and then pull the faucet handle off.
Me too... thought about the video too late
Been there…. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Same faucet. Same problem. Changed the cartridge, Same problem :-(
It didn't fix it?
@@KAFKUBA nope :-(
@justtisha well is it another issue or did you put it in wrong or not tighten it enough
What part number is that cartridge? Pretty sure I need the same one but can't find it in stock in Canada.
I advise you take the old one and compare with pictures online or at a hardware store...that's the best bet

House came with that. I just secured the supplies to stop leaking and get us thru. Bathroom to be renovated.
I watched this video because I accidentally broke my faucet aphandle
Thanks
