The iron basket piece looks like an umbrella holder you have near your entryway. In a more rainy climate it is a very useful piece. But it looks beautiful here in your dining room. I'm warming up to this spanish style!

The area rug pulled everything together and grounded the room… connects well with the oversized art piece too. That chandelier totally made the room! It's perfect. I've always loved that table and the chairs are so cool. I also think that the branches totally made the room as well. The cluster of ashtrays was really interesting. I've never seen anything like that before.

Handy tip for another time - paint the base boards before you put them on, then come back and spot fill and spot paint over the nail heads. Much easier, no taping or worries about the floor. Room looks amazing.
Just had a wine induced genius thought. Not sure if you've heard it a 1000 times before but ..... I am looking at my "Live Beautiful' by Athena Calderone coffee table book and you need to make a high end coffee table book after all of your rooms are finshed!!! I will be the first to buy it!! You need to be in that league!!! Yehhhss!!

I don't even know where to start with how beautiful this room is. I love everything. The lighting, furniture, rug, tapestry, and decor are in such harmony. Like a beautiful song.
I LOVE this room pretty much unreservedly! I'm glad you chose to stick to your guns about the bookcase. That table and your chairs are so rich and heavy they need something lighter weight in the room, but still a sizable piece to keep the scale right. And you found the exact right thing!!! That very adjustable console table is fabulous and complements the dining table and chairs perfectly. And the massive iron light and tapestry? From a "dream of that room" kind of perfect! Like if you had a dream of that room that was exactly right. The fabric uplighting sconces were a big no for me initially, but as the room took on its furnishings and you added in your all your personal touches and the finishing pieces, they grew on me until I sort of liked them! I do think I'd want to look for something very similar in size and shape but made of a metal base with slag glass and hardwired to a dimmer switch to replace them. TBH, I don't think they match in terms of quality. At least not visually. Otherwise, it's a perfect room (how many times can I say"perfect"? 😂). In my opinion, it's one of the best - if not THE best - room you've done!
This is my favorite room so far. I love how you can see the beautiful coffee bar through the archway. The chandelier is absolutely gorgeous, as are the sconces and the wall hanging. There is not one thing that I don't like. You are awesome!
I agree. I could never live in an all brown and beige house, however I greatly admire how true Drew stays to roots of the era of the house and puts so many creative touches and combinations in it. It just about all works!

Hi, your flea market find 16:17 is the cage to a hanging lamp! That hole in the "bottom" (which is actually the top) is where the lighting fixture goes through - the bulb would screw into the fixture and the cord would go up to the ceiling where it would meet the power source. It would operate via a wall switch. It's pretty weathered, so it was probably a porch light. I have a smaller one that used to hang over the back door in the house I grew up in, I keep a candle in it now (also upside down).

The piece down low in the bookcase reminds me of an umbrella holder. Back in the day, proper ladies and gentlemen didn’t go out into the rain without their trusty umbrellas.

Hi, your flea market find 16:17 is the cage to a hanging lamp! That hole in the "bottom" (which is actually the top) is where the lighting fixture goes through - the bulb would screw into the fixture and the cord would go up to the ceiling where it would meet the power source. It would operate via a wall switch. It's pretty weathered, so it was probably a porch light.
I have a smaller one that used to hang over the back door in the house I grew up in, I keep a candle in it now (also upside down).
