- It's 11th July and we head off to Milton Keynes to visit family. On the way we stop at a beautiful pub called the Compass with a fabulous garden full of flowers and so pretty. Then we stopped at Runnymede home of the signing of the Magna Carta which is recognised as one of the most important documents in English history as it marked the road to individual freedom. Onward then to our home for the next two nights and a lovely evening meal at the Inn on the Lake. The following day we visited lots of lovely places around Milton Keynes, the lake, the lovely woodland and Bradwell Abbey, the site and remains of a medieval Benedictine Priory with a rare standing building, a dedicated pilgrimage chapel, which sadly wasn't open but nice to see. We met up with family for dinner at the historic Cock Hotel in Stony Stratford and the following day we left to come home via Henley on Thames where the festival was taking place so it was very busy with boats and people. A lovely trip and I hope you'll enjoy coming along with us.

Hi Lynn Richard and Ky what a beautiful setting the cottage was in all the beautiful flowers and by the river what more could you ask for. Ky looked a bit bewildered in the boat at first then seemed to like it. I see Ky found some dirty water but looked as though he cleaned up later.The river and banks looked so inviting shame about the Japanese knot weed it just takes over everything. Hi Fiona, I think you mean the pub in this one, we drove past it and I had to turn back. It was so beautiful and such a lovely welcome we had there. Sitting in the garden was a delight, then we went on to Runnymede and our destination. The river boat ride was so nice. You'[re right, Ky was bewildered, it was his first time on a boat, but he loved it and I am sure we will go on another one in the future now I know he's going to be good on it. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and the music. See you on the next one and hopefully one day soon we will be over your way ...... fingers crossed xxx
What a great trip you had! I lived in Little Milton, Oxfordshire, for about 4 years, so not that far from Milton Keynes. I remember windsurfing on the lake there many moons ago! Thank you for taking us with you. xxx

Hi Lynn. What beautiful video of what must have been a memorable few days. I used to have some friends in Milton Keynes, but they lived on the outskirts and I never actually saw the town. But apart from there , I had no idea where the other places were (Apart from Henley on Thames). I hadn't spotted this one before and now I'm wondering just how many other gems you have created. Quite brilliant.
Thanks so much Lionel and Mary, I'm glad you enjoyed watching this one. My parents were born in a village in Milton Keynes and never knew the big city it is now when they were there. It was very quiet and peaceful with lots of surrounding countryside in those days.

That was quite the road trip as you packed a lot in! Strangely I was away to a family gathering recently too in the Thames valley not so far from Henley!
