He's trying to change the meta, he's not blaming it. The meta is pure cancer, with Zoolock, OTK Druid and ResidentSleeper Warrior being the big cancer decks out there.
If not now, then when? We've been dealing with an aggro/combo metagame since basically naxxramus. That's been two years of cancer, and if we don't start treating it now, it's only going to get worse as cards are released.
Its especially bad because SO Far at least with karazhan a lot of the cards...just encourage even more aggro or tempo decks. barnes is alright in zoolock or MAYBE good in combo and thats really it, theres the grandmother aka spiders 2.0, the babbling book for mage might add some more tempo stuff, Curator is way too slow to stop an aggro deck, and moroes now....hes just awful. Remember all those warriors in the meta? They make up like 20%? well they have a card called ravaging ghoul so moroes sucks. oh and druids have swipe....and aggro has knife juggler..and flame juggler...TBH it just looks like its gonna be another "Garbage" expansion that furthers aggro and tempo because blizzard doesnt know how to balance out a meta by making cards.
Against Face shaman - lose on turn 5-6, when the 0-2 totems get evolved to legendary minions, against face huntard - lose on turn 5-6 or if you are lucky survive till turn 8: summon all the animilas from the zoo, against face shitadins - lose anyway cause all your minions will have 1 attack, he constantly has weapons, heals, and minions on the deck and kingly buffs for them and you can't do anything, against warlock you lose from constant pressure with high stats minions, who fill the board, having no cards when he has 9 all the time. Against pay-to-win warrior, just concede instantly cause the game will go on for one hour, and you will lose from fatique, cause he will gain at least 4 armor per turn and be immortal. This is Hearthstone now. Aggro, face and zoo wins always except warrior and there is no way this will change. So why bother thinking an interesting deck, copy one and get Legend! You will get destroyed anyway and you will cry salty tears.

I have a solution to agressive decks. Majordomo cthun warrior. Now hear me out. With majordomo it doesnt matter how much damage you take to your face as long as you are able to stay alive before you become ragnaros. Ragnaros has the ability to close out games that you wouldnt otherwise close out as long as you arent completely getting destroyed on board which can only really happen aginst complete control preist. If you pick nothing but early game cards weapons cthun and control cards you can easily get ahead on board and keep it there for when you play ragnaros. When you play ragnaros it doesnt give you 8 health it gives you 15 health as they have to kill ragnaros first. Not easy without a board. Once you become ragnaros you put down your ancent sheildbearers which pretty much means that even know you dont have much power in the late game youre still going to win simply for the fact that they cant deal with 8 damage per turn.
since the attacker gets to choose where stuff goes, agro decks will always be the dominate deck in hearthstone, if it was more like magic where defender chooses that is the only way control can ever be viable
Na, the dev just have to be creative with their card designs. More cards that benefit from behind, better board clears, more effecient healing, cards like zombie chow etc. They could print cards that are bunkers if your health is lower than your opponents, if you have less minions on board, below 20 health etc. You get the idea.
I dont know if some people share my opinion, but i think HS just got way out of control from the hands of the developers, after every card additions they try to control the aggro with some card options or now the Standart stuff. but still aggro comes out with devastating results. zoolocks are now forcing you to build your deck against them, if you want to ladder of course. the problem here are not the players, it's the lack of vision from the developers.
That's why I'll probably switch to TES Legends. It has very strong inbuilt anti aggro mechanics. For example you draw a card for every 5 hp removed from you. On the other side, there are also cards that highly reward you for having more hp than your opponent. Will see how it develops but right now it seems much more fair than anything you'll ever see in HS
Until someone breaks that game too and broken stuff get's used over and over again. Balancing card games is incredibly difficult and i think most companies just can't handle it. I mean just look at how big R&D's are in Yugi, MTG or FoW, it needs tons of work, tons of testing and people with incredible indepth knowledge about their own game. Also every cardgame has to go through certain ups 'n downs, because the designers have to constantly test the limits and abuse the design space. Then you hopefully notice what works and what does not and improve for the next time. Sadly Blizz hasn't a stellar trackrecord with balance, but we'll see.
To be honest I think you're right. It's the reason I tend more and more towards single player games. There are also exploits but they don't have to bother you. In pure pvp games almost always some patterns evolve that you have to follow
See, ladder play ruined MP for me. When i started online play people just played. All skill groups mingled and there wasn't just laddering laddering laddering. Now in every Moba, Rpg, Fps etc. there are Ranks and points so people are constantly 24/7 tryharding even in fun modes and casual games. It's kinda boring.

I never seem to be able to get more then 2 or 3 wins in arena and I was curious if you have/would make a video sorta putting in your thoughts/reasons of why you pick cards over others during your arena build? Welcome to Hearthstone, Kripp. I played a Tournament on Saturday. It took my opponent 17 turns to 0-3 me because he played zoolock and opened with flame imp coin flame imp three games in a row. And the next expansion looks to only offer either MORE aggression (druid 1 mana 2/2 beast LOL) or a return to ridicolous RNG (summoning a ragnaros, or ragnaros, or sylvanas, or tirion out of your deck with a turn 4 battlecry, OR getting nothing of value at all doesn't have roughly the same impact and variance as Doctor Boom xD)
+Kripparian There's an issue in HS at the moment and that's people calling Aggro Shaman the most prominant deck/Class. Thing Is, that's _only_ true until you reach single-digit ranks (Rank 9- Legend) at that point, Warrior Is literally three times as prominent.
12:37 Question. Wouldn't the better play have been to use the weapon to kill the dragon? Slam the dragon to 2 health, kill it with weapon, then use MCTech to kill SI7. Or am I missing something here?
I just went through the same frustration with a Reno C'thu warlock deck I'm experimenting with. Out of the 5 times I played in a row, I fought against 4 mages all doing the same thing in casual. Turn one Wyrm, followed by Sorcerer's Apprentice at turn two with an arcane blast that costed zero that takes out whatever I was able to put on the board. Then follows the miserable beating I take as I try to draw Reno Jackson because by turn 4 I'm already down 10-15 health because every minion or spell I try to use just either gets destroyed by their cheap spells or the minions they can leisurely summon while that damn Wyrm is getting buffed and hitting the face. Almost threw my phone threw the wall after the fifth loss.
2:53 Undertaker Hunter meta was the absolute worst. Nothing even comes close to how much of a pain it was to play during that time. Secret Paladin is a good second place though.
I have given up on trying to build a functional Standard Shaman ladder deck (that isn't aggro, which I don't like because half the games I run out of cards and lose anyway). However, I've had decent luck climbing to nearly Rank 10 on Wild with a classic Midrange Shaman! Just like I used to play before Standard was a thing, only now it uses Flamewreathed Faceless instead of Piloted Shredder. I probably could have climbed higher, but I started late in the season and didn't expect to get as far as I did.
Shadow caster is my fav card, so many interesting decks that can be built and alternative mill rogue decks, with bran. Such as creating 5 rags one turn. lol

From what I've seen one night just appears to be adding in even MORE broken aggro cards. Things like a 1 mana 2-2 is broken enough but with beast synergy and mark you got a 4-4 at turn 2 plus a nice card draw... Wouldn't be surprised if we won't be seeing a single balance to wild cards too
Maybe i'm just always a few ranks lower than this hyper aggressive meta, but this season all the way up to rank 8, half the people I played were playing some warrior deck, and there were a good amount of control v control matchups... I didn't really get THAT many face shamans... Maybe i'm just lucky but I think this rotation was the best thing to ever happen to HS, I love it!

HS favors aggro decks 'cause the mana system. If you're guaranteed a curve and early mana drops, it's a lot more benefitial to fill your deck with cheap cards than it is to try and survive till later.
The deck trip built there is lacking about 6 two drops... or more useful warrior cards.... at the start. Frost giants are awesome, but without having early pressure to be able to tap, lots, then it becomes... sort of redundant.
i don't know why but in my mind, i read(past-tense) boogey monster's effect to be way better than it actually is when i first saw the text in my mind it was whenever this minion attacks another minion, gain + 2 / 2, you can attack again, charge i have no idea what how i translated the real effect into what i read
You are the much more experienced player, but it seemed like this deck was trying to do too many unusual things at the same time. All of the ideas would work, just not together in one deck. It seemed like you couldn't decide whether to build aggro or control here, and got caught in the middle where you didn't have the tools to play either. You could add more serious control. Add x2 Brawl so that your Executes aren't so burdened to hit the perfect target, and add x2 Abomination as a second way to use Charge as well as put less burden on perfectly timing your ghouls to clear 1/1 or 2/2 spam. This would strengthen a lot of your single target removal significantly. You could also move away from late game plays and go for more of a damage push. This means plays that both guard you and threaten -- like some healing and/or taunt minions, windfury + charge combos, charge minions in general, and x2 Spellbreaker to push past a Taunt and close the game. The giant combo would be far better in Cthun Warrior since that deck survives better. It hero powers a lot more, and there are a lot of other big minions in that deck to copy so that it's not essential to combo for the push to work. You could go more all in on it, and it would not clog your hand quite the way it does in this deck. But what do I know and take it for what it is... just advice from some rando in the peanut gallery. I play control Paladin (with success against both aggro and control decks) and think Ivory Knight will be perfect to make my deck even better. My mage deck regularly wins by fatigue against fatigue decks, but has also won on turn 8 many times. And Rogue, which I've heard is the best class, I'm utterly terrible with and can't get to win consistently. I disagree very strongly on how good/bad Sap is. I think differently and suspect that I'm missing the game experience that you have, which is 50% of why I watch you play (the other 50% being that you are fun to watch play; carry on carrying on sir). But I do suspect that a differing POV may at least stoke your brain as to why the deck didn't work and what you might change to make it win without abandoning the combos you wanted to play.
I'll just state the obvious here: The deck is not bad because it has alot of bad Cards in it. It is bad because it has only expensive Cards... 4 conditional 4-Mana drop and 8 Cards that cost 6+ Mana is a good way to lose the game before even starting it.Oh, and conditional spells (Charge...) don't help either.
This is one of my favorite Kripp videos. I wish he got hired to Team 5. He would fix HS in a week. Honestly, I've gone from spending $100 per expansion, to playing arena and only buying things with golds. You can only netdeck and aggro in constructed. With Gadgetzan, this is getting even WORSE. Yes, his deck in this video is shit, but this happens no matter what homebrew you come up with. If it's not Tier 3, you'll have 10% winrate at best. 80% of the card pool is unviable. Why spend money, then? I just hope more people wake up.
Be sure to thoroughly praise Yogg before playing him. Also some rules while playing Yogg: Rule 1: Whenever Yogg is playable, Yogg must be always be played. That's the only rule.
you should play wild rank 18-12 with those decks. it is really fun! no meta, just things like randuin, duplicate deathwing, feign death hunter, yogg n load, all kinds of reno decks, mech warrior,... the few who play real decks are immediatelly rank 10+
You should have replaced stranglethorn with brawl. Stranglethorn is not a bad card as it has seen play in midrange hunter decks in the past, and brawl is part of the control warrior carryying package.
Honestly, this is a very unpopular opinion, but my favorite meta of all time was the grim patron meta. Aggro was near dead except at low ranks or the very rare cheesers higher up. The meta was solidly midrange, so someone who hangs around rank 15 for fun could play whichever deck they wanted because aggro wouldn't show their faces and the Grim Patron warriors of that rank sucked balls, even right up to the nerf where they had plenty of time to improve.
Net deck is the bane of digital CCGs. On ladder, you basically know the rest of someone's deck when you see their 2nd card. CCG (non-e-sport) is not about paying to get the most meta deck asap but getting the most out of what you have. So what if you make a Bolster Warrior than doesn't go beyond rank 15? You and your opponent will have more fun playing each other than playing against the same net deck again.

Man.... on my f2p account (did I mention I am f2p?) I managed to pull a soggoth, and I gotta say I actually really love playing that card. There are many situations where soggoth is the perfect card and works well vs. aggro... it is just too damn expensive. A stat drop and costing one less mana would actually make it a pretty decent card imo.
To confirm your belief that the current meta ruins the new player experience, I was forced to abandon my Evolve Shaman deck for a meta face deck and it was the worst feeling. Aggro Shaman just isn't' fun, especially compared to the Nerubian Prophet->Tirion Fordring dream.
You know, in hindsight, I almost wish Patron Warrior didn't get nerfed quite as bad. It was nice to have the deck dead in the moment, but Secret Paladin, Bullshit Shaman, and Zoolock have killed most of my love for this game.
What's the deal with Stranglethorn in this deck? I don't get what his purpose is over like Azure Drake or something. Dropping Boogey and a Frosty for shield slams makes this deck at least 8% better.
It varies a bit. Sometimes you really only face aggro game after game.. Other times you face surprisingly many midrange-control decks. But most of the time its still aggro deck after aggro deck.
Can anyone here please explain why he did play at 18:30 the way he did? I think it is much better to slam the dragon + hit it with the axe and then trade mc to toast. You would have 3 3 aws + 2 1 weapon vs clear board.

I really hate this game sometimes. I went up against the most insane arena deck ever. It was literally constructed. They had double flame strike, triple fireball, pyroblast, double polymorph and 2 flamelances. And the worst part is that it was given to one of the worst players ever. They were wasting 7 attack on my totems, so they could have killed me in about 1/10th of the time they took

since the attacker gets to choose where stuff goes, agro decks will always be the dominate deck in hearthstone, if it was more like magic where defender chooses that is the only way control can ever be viable

Na, the dev just have to be creative with their card designs. More cards that benefit from behind, better board clears, more effecient healing, cards like zombie chow etc.
They could print cards that are bunkers if your health is lower than your opponents, if you have less minions on board, below 20 health etc. You get the idea.
I dont know if some people share my opinion, but i think HS just got way out of control from the hands of the developers, after every card additions they try to control the aggro with some card options or now the Standart stuff. but still aggro comes out with devastating results. zoolocks are now forcing you to build your deck against them, if you want to ladder of course. the problem here are not the players, it's the lack of vision from the developers.
That's why I'll probably switch to TES Legends. It has very strong inbuilt anti aggro mechanics. For example you draw a card for every 5 hp removed from you. On the other side, there are also cards that highly reward you for having more hp than your opponent. Will see how it develops but right now it seems much more fair than anything you'll ever see in HS
Until someone breaks that game too and broken stuff get's used over and over again.
Balancing card games is incredibly difficult and i think most companies just can't handle it. I mean just look at how big R&D's are in Yugi, MTG or FoW, it needs tons of work, tons of testing and people with incredible indepth knowledge about their own game.
Also every cardgame has to go through certain ups 'n downs, because the designers have to constantly test the limits and abuse the design space. Then you hopefully notice what works and what does not and improve for the next time.
Sadly Blizz hasn't a stellar trackrecord with balance, but we'll see.
To be honest I think you're right. It's the reason I tend more and more towards single player games. There are also exploits but they don't have to bother you. In pure pvp games almost always some patterns evolve that you have to follow
See, ladder play ruined MP for me. When i started online play people just played. All skill groups mingled and there wasn't just laddering laddering laddering.
Now in every Moba, Rpg, Fps etc. there are Ranks and points so people are constantly 24/7 tryharding even in fun modes and casual games.
It's kinda boring.

I never seem to be able to get more then 2 or 3 wins in arena and I was curious if you have/would make a video sorta putting in your thoughts/reasons of why you pick cards over others during your arena build? Welcome to Hearthstone, Kripp. I played a Tournament on Saturday. It took my opponent 17 turns to 0-3 me because he played zoolock and opened with flame imp coin flame imp three games in a row. And the next expansion looks to only offer either MORE aggression (druid 1 mana 2/2 beast LOL) or a return to ridicolous RNG (summoning a ragnaros, or ragnaros, or sylvanas, or tirion out of your deck with a turn 4 battlecry, OR getting nothing of value at all doesn't have roughly the same impact and variance as Doctor Boom xD)

and that's people calling Aggro Shaman the most prominant deck/Class.
Thing Is, that's _only_ true until you reach single-digit ranks (Rank 9- Legend) at that point, Warrior Is literally three times as prominent.

Question. Wouldn't the better play have been to use the weapon to kill the dragon? Slam the dragon to 2 health, kill it with weapon, then use MCTech to kill SI7.

I just went through the same frustration with a Reno C'thu warlock deck I'm experimenting with. Out of the 5 times I played in a row, I fought against 4 mages all doing the same thing in casual. Turn one Wyrm, followed by Sorcerer's Apprentice at turn two with an arcane blast that costed zero that takes out whatever I was able to put on the board. Then follows the miserable beating I take as I try to draw Reno Jackson because by turn 4 I'm already down 10-15 health because every minion or spell I try to use just either gets destroyed by their cheap spells or the minions they can leisurely summon while that damn Wyrm is getting buffed and hitting the face. Almost threw my phone threw the wall after the fifth loss.

2:53 Undertaker Hunter meta was the absolute worst. Nothing even comes close to how much of a pain it was to play during that time. Secret Paladin is a good second place though.
I have given up on trying to build a functional Standard Shaman ladder deck (that isn't aggro, which I don't like because half the games I run out of cards and lose anyway). However, I've had decent luck climbing to nearly Rank 10 on Wild with a classic Midrange Shaman! Just like I used to play before Standard was a thing, only now it uses Flamewreathed Faceless instead of Piloted Shredder. I probably could have climbed higher, but I started late in the season and didn't expect to get as far as I did.

Add leeroy and hungry dragon for MC-tech or Magnataur value. Add the beast too, and Cult Apotecary, and Cyclopean Horror.

From what I've seen one night just appears to be adding in even MORE broken aggro cards. Things like a 1 mana 2-2 is broken enough but with beast synergy and mark you got a 4-4 at turn 2 plus a nice card draw... Wouldn't be surprised if we won't be seeing a single balance to wild cards too
Maybe i'm just always a few ranks lower than this hyper aggressive meta, but this season all the way up to rank 8, half the people I played were playing some warrior deck, and there were a good amount of control v control matchups... I didn't really get THAT many face shamans... Maybe i'm just lucky but I think this rotation was the best thing to ever happen to HS, I love it!

HS favors aggro decks 'cause the mana system. If you're guaranteed a curve and early mana drops, it's a lot more benefitial to fill your deck with cheap cards than it is to try and survive till later.
The deck trip built there is lacking about 6 two drops... or more useful warrior cards.... at the start. Frost giants are awesome, but without having early pressure to be able to tap, lots, then it becomes... sort of redundant.
It's a control warrior shell with brawl/shield slam/shield block swapped out for weird tech/combo cards, the results are unexpected
Wouldn't Faceless Manipulator rekt those lesser manipulator's effectiveness? It does the same but for extra mana gains effects too!

You are the much more experienced player, but it seemed like this deck was trying to do too many unusual things at the same time. All of the ideas would work, just not together in one deck. It seemed like you couldn't decide whether to build aggro or control here, and got caught in the middle where you didn't have the tools to play either.
You could add more serious control. Add x2 Brawl so that your Executes aren't so burdened to hit the perfect target, and add x2 Abomination as a second way to use Charge as well as put less burden on perfectly timing your ghouls to clear 1/1 or 2/2 spam. This would strengthen a lot of your single target removal significantly.
You could also move away from late game plays and go for more of a damage push. This means plays that both guard you and threaten -- like some healing and/or taunt minions, windfury + charge combos, charge minions in general, and x2 Spellbreaker to push past a Taunt and close the game.
The giant combo would be far better in Cthun Warrior since that deck survives better. It hero powers a lot more, and there are a lot of other big minions in that deck to copy so that it's not essential to combo for the push to work. You could go more all in on it, and it would not clog your hand quite the way it does in this deck.
But what do I know and take it for what it is... just advice from some rando in the peanut gallery. I play control Paladin (with success against both aggro and control decks) and think Ivory Knight will be perfect to make my deck even better. My mage deck regularly wins by fatigue against fatigue decks, but has also won on turn 8 many times. And Rogue, which I've heard is the best class, I'm utterly terrible with and can't get to win consistently. I disagree very strongly on how good/bad Sap is. I think differently and suspect that I'm missing the game experience that you have, which is 50% of why I watch you play (the other 50% being that you are fun to watch play; carry on carrying on sir). But I do suspect that a differing POV may at least stoke your brain as to why the deck didn't work and what you might change to make it win without abandoning the combos you wanted to play.

I'll just state the obvious here: The deck is not bad because it has alot of bad Cards in it. It is bad because it has only expensive Cards...
4 conditional 4-Mana drop and 8 Cards that cost 6+ Mana is a good way to lose the game before even starting it.Oh, and conditional spells (Charge...) don't help either.
This is one of my favorite Kripp videos. I wish he got hired to Team 5. He would fix HS in a week. Honestly, I've gone from spending $100 per expansion, to playing arena and only buying things with golds. You can only netdeck and aggro in constructed.

Yes, his deck in this video is shit, but this happens no matter what homebrew you come up with. If it's not Tier 3, you'll have 10% winrate at best. 80% of the card pool is unviable. Why spend money, then? I just hope more people wake up.

you should play wild rank 18-12 with those decks. it is really fun! no meta, just things like randuin, duplicate deathwing, feign death hunter, yogg n load, all kinds of reno decks, mech warrior,... the few who play real decks are immediatelly rank 10+
You should have replaced stranglethorn with brawl. Stranglethorn is not a bad card as it has seen play in midrange hunter decks in the past, and brawl is part of the control warrior carryying package.
Some good concepts but overall it's just a clusterfuck of high cost minions. Definitely needs to curve a little better.

Honestly, this is a very unpopular opinion, but my favorite meta of all time was the grim patron meta. Aggro was near dead except at low ranks or the very rare cheesers higher up. The meta was solidly midrange, so someone who hangs around rank 15 for fun could play whichever deck they wanted because aggro wouldn't show their faces and the Grim Patron warriors of that rank sucked balls, even right up to the nerf where they had plenty of time to improve.
Net deck is the bane of digital CCGs. On ladder, you basically know the rest of someone's deck when you see their 2nd card. CCG (non-e-sport) is not about paying to get the most meta deck asap but getting the most out of what you have. So what if you make a Bolster Warrior than doesn't go beyond rank 15? You and your opponent will have more fun playing each other than playing against the same net deck again.

Man.... on my f2p account (did I mention I am f2p?) I managed to pull a soggoth, and I gotta say I actually really love playing that card. There are many situations where soggoth is the perfect card and works well vs. aggro... it is just too damn expensive. A stat drop and costing one less mana would actually make it a pretty decent card imo.
To confirm your belief that the current meta ruins the new player experience, I was forced to abandon my Evolve Shaman deck for a meta face deck and it was the worst feeling. Aggro Shaman just isn't' fun, especially compared to the Nerubian Prophet->Tirion Fordring dream.

yeah, constructed is annoying.. On my favourite mage deck, it's basically: survive 8 turns=win, but you will probably die around turn 4.
You know, in hindsight, I almost wish Patron Warrior didn't get nerfed quite as bad. It was nice to have the deck dead in the moment, but Secret Paladin, Bullshit Shaman, and Zoolock have killed most of my love for this game.

What's the deal with Stranglethorn in this deck? I don't get what his purpose is over like Azure Drake or something. Dropping Boogey and a Frosty for shield slams makes this deck at least 8% better.
It's kinda the point to have Boogeymonster in the deck, that's why it's bad.
Angry Skeletor I mean you could make it work but the deck has too high of a curve to beat just about any deck.

It varies a bit. Sometimes you really only face aggro game after game.. Other times you face surprisingly many midrange-control decks.
But most of the time its still aggro deck after aggro deck.

I really hate this game sometimes. I went up against the most insane arena deck ever. It was literally constructed. They had double flame strike, triple fireball, pyroblast, double polymorph and 2 flamelances. And the worst part is that it was given to one of the worst players ever. They were wasting 7 attack on my totems, so they could have killed me in about 1/10th of the time they took
