Draw a card._ Ancestral Purify (2 Mana Shaman spell): _Restore an enemy minion to full Health and give it taunt. Draw a card._

Billy Diaz Why stop at 3? Throw in a shrinkmeister and you can silence an enemy 5 attack minion for the low low price of 8 mana. Good thing you can't do that in standard.
in case you didnt notice he said: 1 mana 7/7 which implies that you want to start to smash into things by turn 2. Ironbeak cost 3 so you waste a turn. Spellbreaker comes out even later. Silence for 0 is the only one that made sense here.
I've already quit Hearthstone. Blizzard needs to bring fresh eyes/new blood to the Hearthstone development team. The Hearthstone development team has shown time and time again that they are totally incompetent. There are numerous other CCG out there to learn from. There is also the outcries from the Hearthstone community who have said explicitly that having a core set is a bad idea and that Shaman and Priest's core sets are no where near as good as Warrior, Mage, Shaman, Warlock etc core sets. Purify is a spit in the eye from the Hearthstone team. At no point since the beginning of Hearthstone has one class been so bad in both Arena and on Ladder and for such a long time. Priest has never been top tier and no one saying it should be. All we are asking for is more balance between the best and worst decks. Updating/buffing Priests core set would go a long way towards mending all the hatred.

Shea Briar True but it's still farily balanced because the owl had "draw a 2/1 beast and put it directly into the battlefield" which is tempowise better but the drawing is a cycling ability which is valuable when you build a deck that benefits from it.

Owl was a 2 mana 2/1 with silence battlecry. 2/1 is worth 1 mana, so its silence battlecry was worth 1 mana. Priest already has a silence card worth 0 mana. Purify would be perfectly balanced at 2 mana silence and draw a card. It would be strong if it was 1 mana, but still balanced. The way it is right now is complete shit.

+WingofTech silencing your own minion is bad tho. Priest plays a lot of cards that shouldn't be slienced. All of their minions, the Priest Minions you can get, would suck if silenced. like Sylvana, Rag, CThun, taunts, buffs. Priest is already too slow. This is another very slow card. It's literally a 2 mana draw one card. It's like wild growth on 10 mana but worse because you have to have a minion in play AND that minion is okay to silence. It could see play. And it might. But it's still the worse card I've seen.
No you cycle a card which is fine at 1 mana.There are plenty of times I've pw shielded an enemy I was planning on paining or deathing just to cycle. It's AMAZING if you can get use out of it to keep a minion alive, but it's still useful enough just to cycle at it's mana cost. You could ultimately wait to use pw shield on a minion in a later turn but if you just need the draw 1 mana is fine. Granted in that EXACT case purify will save your minion, but there is no warlock deck that PURPOSEFULLY runs corruption. It comes off dark pedler on occasion and the warlock isn't ususally super happy about it.
Turn 7: you play spellsinger, get purify, complain about RNG, play some more stuff. Turn 8: you play the secret that copies whatever your opponent play (miror entitie or something like that, i forget) and some more crap. Turn 9: purify the majordomo executus you copied from your opponent and play more stuff. Turn 10: pyroblast oposing majordomo, go face with yours and win. YAY!

I'm running a fairly decent priest deck at a fairly shitty rank ok. And alot of my opponents are actually net decks working down. Now I don't have enough matches to call it good but it is atleast being consistent.
+Like a Pro if silence is before the effect in the card text then the buff would stay on the card because it is silenced first. Think of earth shock for shaman. Silence and deal one damage. You play it on a twilight drake. It silences then kills the drake. This is the same concept

Thank you kripp for being so brutally honest cause I've always had a soft spot for priest (My first class that I had success with while I was f2p). Thought about having to play around flamestrike and portal on turn 7 in arena and I just didnt have any words....
Know what would make this card strong? Just make it unsilence a minion. Giving it back all buffs it already had. It'll be balanced in the term that it's really good if your foe can only silence it and leave it ( and that'll happen a lot less with that type of card floating around) They just need to not be scared of making new cards that have new mechanics like that. The discover mechanic is pretty sweet and so was inspire. Now just make debuffs that last along with ways to deal with the overpowering silence shit.

OK so apparently you don't know why Purify is really good. So I explain you: 1. You will realize that you can remove negative effects from your minions 2. It draws you a card 3. It strictly forbid you from wasting it on enemy minions. 4. It costs just 2 mana + It's going to be so broken in arena. Who is the 2nd best class in arena? Paladin. What is his favorite card? Keeper. What Purify says to Keeper? Go to hell!
1. He realizes this, but Preist in any game mode except for arena hardly runs cards, especially cards they want to silence. Plus, if you have to silence an arena card you have a bad arena deck. 2. It costs 2 mana, and there is already better ways of drawing cards for 1 mana in preist. Plus, it doesnt mater if your getting rushed down. 3. Wasting it on enemy minions? How exactly? 4. In any game mode tempo is important, if you are not ahead of your opponent you lose because control cards dont do enough. Also the preist combo deck is not a good deck, and definitely will not get better than the other classes any time soon. 5. If they keeper your card, chances are that its already dead, or if you silence your card to fix it either it will lose its abilities that made it strong, or you are already close to death.

Nah priest still has some of the strongest cards in the game. The problem with the old shaman was that some of their old strong cards and playstyle just got power creeped out entirely. Then again i suppose there isn't much of a diffirence between weak cards and unplayable strong ones.

But if you mean what would i like to combo it with, then I was thinking it would be fun to play a big stat minion, copy it with Volazj and then silence it for a cute little play. Obviously its not very good and it would be better if the silence cost less but it would be fun. You could even play something like Icehowl and follow it up with Volazj, purify next turn if it sticks.
I never said the card wasn't bad, and i even said: "if it card was less mana". Also for the novelty you could run 2 of both with a Brann and have the possibly combo out 4 big minions if you somehow managed to get the board. I realize this is extremely unlikely but I'm clearly talking about a deck run for fun (Should be obvious from the fact that I mentioned Volazj). Either way, if you're going to complain about a post, actually read it first.
So the argument is that: "Not every class can be good at all times, there always be a -top- class". That is bullshit. Look at dota 2, it took a long time but in this meta basically every playstyle is viable (notice dota 2 has over 100 heroes with multiple skills and item interaction). Yet HS developers give up on balancing A CARD GAME. I think the statement would better be: "balancing all classes would require ACTUAL work from our side, and we are lazy as fuck so you are better off buying packs and playing net decks"

Actually Beta zoo and Aggro ARE going to change. When the rotation occurs zoo will lose, among other things, their best three drop. It's going to be a serious hit to them. As for Aggro Shaman, well, they lose their best one drop, two drop, AND three drop. Aggro Shaman will be gone. The rotation will take a huge hit on Aggro. The meta WILL be slowed.
i would like an archtype of silencing your minions but there are not support to it, 3 mana 6/6 deathrattle take 10 damage, 5 mana 9/9 cant attack something like that

After a very long discussion, we've decided to make the card 2 Mana instead of 3! Just think of the possibilities! Purify your own Zombie Chow to get a 3 Mana 2/3 with no downside, or use Purify on Ancient Watcher to get a baseline Chillwind Yeti for just 2 cards. Insane Value! At first we thought this card would be too good, but because we know how much Priest has been struggling in Arena we've decided to make it a Common card! Now every Priest has a higher chance of getting this amazing card!
I think blizzard dont care about arena. Period. It dosent earn them money, they actually loose money because of good players. They will release good and bad cards because its for balancing all the discover and random effects. Thats what going on there mind. The random plays gets the views on youtube not the calculated plays.

Could've used flawed. Also Blizzard makes some money off the pay4arena option, and even if it DOES lose them money, it is very unlikely, because f2ps will never use money on something like packs, instead I see that it brings them more players and is more friendly toward the f2p crowd.
what makes you think that arena deserves any kind of attention its a shitty mode for casuals who dont have money to buy packs. The game is in constructed and is balanced around that. You cant balance two different modes without removing cards from the draft etc.
If im not mistaken, u need 7 wins to be self sustainable in arena. And only the best players out there get more than 7 wins. The average players get 3 wins. N its safe to say that blizzard earns tons of money in arena from average and bad players
Hey guys blizzard here and we just wanted to say purify is a great card if you combo it with ancient watcher you spend 2 cards to get a 4 mana 4/5! think of all that value... If you want even more value you can try it with zombie chow! its a 3 mana 2/3!!!! Finally we just wanted to say we thought it would be better as a rare but we realized priest is not the best in arena so we made it common so almost all priests will have it!
i can see some plays with this card, it combos well with shadow madness and it is a good alternative to removing a minion out that stops you from doing what you want (ie. auchenai on board when you really need to heal and no way to remove it). This card in general allows you to have more leniency against misreads or misplays.
If you silence a shadow madness'ed minion it immediately returns it to the opponent. You don't get to keep it since the spell effect is to temporarily gain control of the minion for 1 turn. Silencing ends it prematurely.
They are the worst class right now, but there always HAS to be ninth best class. Besides they don't have very bad winrate, and people are playing priest wrong imo. Most of cards that current priest runs are too slow for him. Midrange dragon priest performs well and they will get new good dragons with karazhan. It's all good :)
Considering the meta right now, Priest might be the worst but it's not even half bad for someone with a pimped out deck. I have a burst mage and zoolock that both get owned by priest. That's half the fucking meta atm.
There is one reason to play the card, is basically like playing a deck that is based around bringing out minions that have a debuff but can be used to defend yourself. Silencing or negating someones effect has been around in card games for a long ass time, but I wouldn't straight up call it the worst card in the game as it has it's combos and it can bring out some pretty destructive elements to the field. I think you have discarded some of the possibilities which with Barnes is pretty high and even the 4 mana 7/7, which we know is a very deadly thing. This card basically has the same cost as the 7/7 with shaman as the shaman card has a 2 overcharge which is like loses 2 mana (unless unlocked but that's a minimum of 2 mana so you still lose it anyway.) Purify is basically a way to increase consistency of silences and it could bring a weird priest deck into play, which could be quite good as the cost reduction is great. One thing I keep seeing you hearthstone "pros" do is discard a card just because you read the text thought of a few things and straight up called it bad; HELL you called doctor boom bad and see where that went. my advise for you people is to not listen these idiots as they can't predict for shit.
I think he covered that in 2 different videos and both times he said that when blizzard nerfs cards they kill cards, and the other is that it would have been just fine if it was only 2 mana with the new effect; I could be wrong and it is the same video but I'm not 100% sure
Demonfuses are usable in the late game, plus warlock doesn't need it,the priest needs every bit of help they can get, but Blizzard only flings shit at it.
I am a person who mained priest since beta. I've endured all the nerfs, the cards being removed because they were 'bad' (I'm looking at you, Fade) but turned out to having been great in the current meta. My first golden hero was Anduin. I reached legend for the first time with a control priest in vanilla, and made it a mission to reach legend with priest at least once per expansion - even after Naxx when everything started going really downhill for priests. And I've succeeded, as tough as it's been. But not after WotOG. I'm averaging 5.2 wins in arena with priests (as opposed to 6.8 total, 7.8 with mage and 7.4 with Warlock), and though I reached rank 3 the first month of WotOG, I couldn't get up there. I was stuck between 3 and 5 for 15 days and ended up just doing the last three ranks with zoo. I've tried finding the unicorn priest since Ben "I can't believe I haven't been fired yet" Brode hinted that there might be something. I've failed miserably. I've tried aggro priest, midrange (stupid, I know, but hey - had to try), combo priest, control, dragon tempo, dragon control, C'thun, Yogg, freeze priest, N'Zoth, and numerous versions of Reno priests. Never gotten higher than rank 3. And now I've given up. After seeing the priest cards (and the other cards) in Karazhan, I am officially not playing priest anymore until the next expansion. If I get a priest quest, I will delete it. I have already deleted my priest decks. The day the last Kara cards were released, was the saddest day in my Hearthstone 'career'. You win, Blizzard. You've killed priests. I accept it. Just do us all a favour and delete the class from your system, so we don't have to pretend like you give an ounce of a shit about it.
I´m pretty sure that would be broken as fuck. Wild Growth is seen as a mandatory card in almost every single Druid deck...and the crytsal´s empty. Silencing a minion for a card AND a permanent crytsal? Nope.
That's a bit overboard. It would be amazing as a 0 mana draw a card deck thinner, just because the drawback isn't all that bad, since there are a lot of good minions people play that aren't hurt too badly by silence (Zombie Chow, Ancient Watcher, Acidic Swamp Ooze, Deathlord, Spider Tank, etc.).
+Joe PIlling no -1 is correct. Assuming cards 'cost' mana, and you are subtracting mana from your current mana pool, having a '-1 cost card' would equal out to 'gain 1 mana this turn'. A '+1 mana' is equivalent to a 1 mana card.
I dont like priest for his stealing playstyle anyway, its anoying so i kinda like it.. if it was my choice i'd delete priest entirely, maybe exchange it for DK
I don't mind if they move away from mind control, shadow madness and such cards. But Thoughtsteal and Mindivison are legit, that's copying, not stealing.
Mind Control seems almost no play and shadow madness is normally about as good as multi-shot which sees very little play too. They're also great cards for the game because you're required to play around them, bait them out etc.
And I dislike super aggressive play styles making me a control/combo player wishing for the death of aggro shaman. Being able to steal the scummy op cards people would play makes control priest oh so satisfying. But I'll still get wrecked my midrange/freeze/ and combos sometimes.
I think I disagree with all of these people saying Purify is bad. Kripp assumes in this video that silencing your own minion is a BAD effect, that comes with a card draw. To be fair, in Arena, silencing your own minion is almost always a bad thing. So Purify is a very bad card, for Arena, especially since it's common. BUT, silencing your own minions has TONS of applications in constructed. Here is a list of some off the top of my head: -An enemy Paladin pulls out a Humility, Repentance, or Eadric the Pure. You can silence your big minions back to full attack on your turn if they aren't killed. -An enemy Mage freezes your big minion to buy themselves time and leaves their face/important minion open, expecting it to be safe. Nope. Silence your own minion and the freeze effect disappears. -As a Priest, play Herald Volazj or Barnes. Summon 1/1 copy of your big minions, then silence the 1/1 copy. Suddenly the flimsy 1/1 Ragnaros that probably won't survive more than 1 turn becomes an 8/8. The second Deathwing Dragonlord (that you don't need the deathrattle effect of because you already have one on the board, the one you duplicated) turns from a 1/1 with useless deathrattle into a 12/12. Et cetera, plenty more good minions for this combo. -Play Eerie Statue or Fel Reaver in your deck. Throw it out there. Your opponent will either waste valuable removal killing an otherwise useless card (unlikely, they will probably just ignore it), or you get a 7/7 for 6 mana (same as a flamewreathed) and draw a card to replace the extra one you used (since flamewreathed is only 1 card, this combo is 2 cards). With Fel Reaver, you probably want to play them in the same turn, not one turn apart, but you can get an 8/8 for 7 mana, and cycle a card. Or you can leave it at 5 mana 8/8 if you think you can win and deal with the card burn from Reaver. Flexibility. -Silencing Soulpriest if you need to heal. Silencing Spawn of Shadows if you want to heal instead of trading 4 damage for 2 damage. Silencing your Deathwing Dragonlord if you decide you don't want to put al your dragons out at once, like if you think your opponent has a Deathwing or Doom or Twisting Nether saved to clear them out. Dealing with emergencies like that. -Using Shadow Madness to steal an enemy minion and silencing it will make it your minion permanantly, essentially making it a cheaper but more limited Mind Control. Also, if you steal a minion from an opponent that has an effect you don't like (for example, you get a Void Crusher from a Warlock using Thoughtsteal, Entomb, or Mind Vision) you can still play that minion without having to restrict your plays, it just costs two extra mana. Obviously all of these uses are limited and situational, but all the little situational uses and the flexibility of this card make it pretty good. The sort of Priest Deck I'm thinking of would, of course, run such cards as Herald Volazj, Barnes, some big dragons along with Deathwing Dragonlord for endgame, Soulpriest, Eerie Statue/Fel Reaver (but not both), Thoughtsteal, Shadow Madness, The Beast, a few others, and then fill in the rest of the deck slots however you like. I'm not claiming it's a top-tier card by any means, and won't save priest as a class. Not even close. But I think people are not very aware of what this card is capable of. And to those of you who say "Just run regular Silence, problem solved", what if I want silences for my own minions AND the enemy minions? What if I don't want to run out of cards because my opening hand had a 0 cost card that didn't cycle in a class with no card draw? What if, heaven forbid, I end up wanting to silence my own minions...MORE THAN TWICE? I could run two Fel Reavers and two Eerie Statues and silence them all. Fel Reavers, 5 mana 8/8 with Silence. Eerie Statue, 6 mana 7/7 and draw a card with Purify. If I have the coin, I could play a turn 3 7/7, turn 4 purify, attack, and hero power, turn 5 8/8, turn 6 7/7...assuming I had all the right cards in hand of course. But the point is, while that is unlikely, the card can be used for other things besides just this combo. I don't think that's that bad. It's not amazing, but it's not as bad as everyone's making it out to be.
Then you would play silence, which has even more uses and costs even less than this garbage. Edit: Purify IS bad. There's no debate about it. When you look at other cards from other classes, you can easily see how bad it is. Hell, you know how bad it is if you look at Priest itself. They have a 1 mana spell, that draws AND gives your minion +2 health, and they have a 0 mana silence. Purify is a 2 mana spell, that you ONLY CAN USE ON YOUR OWN MINIONS, and cycles. That's absolutely trash compared to some cards from other classes. Flare, Mark of Y'shaarj, Battle Rage, Ancestral Knowlegde, Loot Hoarder, Shiv, Slam, Wrath, Commanding Shout, hell, even Novice Engineer is better. Combine that with the fact, that it's absolutely fucking useless right now, and it's just even worse. I understand the Hearthstone team wants to push a new archetype with self silence and stuff, but right now, it's not something that works, because there aren't enough cards that benefit, and those that do, aren't good enough in any way. If they wanted this to be a viable card, they should have put it out in the NEXT expansion, where more cards are going to get revealed, and where it can get some synergy. What Priest needs right now, is early game. Strong early game. A 2 mana spell, that is completely useless, is probably the worst thing they ever could have done.
I am happy that you are passionate but keep it short. I say this as a fellow rambler. The problem with all your examples is that all those plays are already possible with regular silence. If making plays like Eerie statue or fel reaver into silence was good enough it would already see play. But all your plays are simply too weak too slow or too inconsistant. Imagine you play eerie statue and then next turn you purify it. Congratulations you just needed a 2 card combo to play the exact same card as shaman does in 1. However even the 4 mana shaman card is no longer an auto include. Ofcourse you are right if you want to play a deck like that you will need more draw. But the more bad/situational cards that are in your deck the more draw you need in the first place. If purify cost 0 mana your deck idea might have a small chance.
It would make sense if the card also healed your cards in the process, maybe make it's namesake understandable. While we are on the topic of healing, Priest needs a healing effect reminiscent of the Shaman's totem effect, where the number of heals builds some sort of efficient drop, like Thing from below does for Shaman. Auchenai needs friends to back her up, and 9 times out of 10, they're too big or inconsistent to combo, or hell, too weak to put a dent in, say, that 2/6 four drop warrior has, among others. It's like the priest lacks an identity, and keeps trying to be different classes with his healing spells, but ultimately, needs healing synergy of his own. Actual control, not just situational garbage. Actual power, not just burst one offs that are more combo intensive than Rogue. Actual strategies, not just piling legendaries and hoping for the best. That's what the priest is in the Meta right now. A lost child among champions.

How to make this card usable: Have it "unsilence" a minion, basically like a delayed Counterspell. That stops the easy silence removal of powerful priest big minions.

You also get card draw, which pretty much means that it's .5 mana silence a friendly minion. Which makes ancient watcher a 2.5 mana 4/5 Or a 4 mana 4/5 draw a card, which is good.
They probably made the card cost two mana because you can spend the same amount of mana on your hero power to draw a card from a Northshire Cleric on the board. So a card to cater for the times when you don't have a Northshire Cleric on the board.
This synergizes well with the 6 mana 3/3 that has battlecry: destroy an enemy minion no? Now you can play the 6 mana card and then silence it and then draw. It stops the deathrattle effects from going off.
Ya, I agree, i love priest, and even in this meta i try to force a control priest deck to work, and I was excited about this expansion thinking priest might get a little buff, then saw this here. And just cried a little at the state of the meta.
Priest is one of the most entertaining classes to play in the right meta... that pretty much never surfaces.... and they are still not broken when they are in their ideal matchups most of the time. Priest needs a lot of love. You could buff a multitude of priest cards that are played, by signifigant amounts, in priest and STILL it would not approach overpowered.
Super Synergy: The trick is to spent time and spells to buff your own minion and then ..... suddenly purify it...you need to lmao or baffle your opponent till they concede of ''your'' madness or make him to do mistakes...... it is a very sneaky card that can catch your opponent by surprise even by seeing you using it... i highly recommend you guys to use this card!!!!!

Ancestral Purify (2 Mana Shaman spell):

I've already quit Hearthstone.
Blizzard needs to bring fresh eyes/new blood to the Hearthstone development team.
The Hearthstone development team has shown time and time again that they are totally incompetent. There are numerous other CCG out there to learn from. There is also the outcries from the Hearthstone community who have said explicitly that having a core set is a bad idea and that Shaman and Priest's core sets are no where near as good as Warrior, Mage, Shaman, Warlock etc core sets.
Purify is a spit in the eye from the Hearthstone team. At no point since the beginning of Hearthstone has one class been so bad in both Arena and on Ladder and for such a long time.
Priest has never been top tier and no one saying it should be. All we are asking for is more balance between the best and worst decks. Updating/buffing Priests core set would go a long way towards mending all the hatred.

No you cycle a card which is fine at 1 mana.There are plenty of times I've pw shielded an enemy I was planning on paining or deathing just to cycle. It's AMAZING if you can get use out of it to keep a minion alive, but it's still useful enough just to cycle at it's mana cost. You could ultimately wait to use pw shield on a minion in a later turn but if you just need the draw 1 mana is fine. Granted in that EXACT case purify will save your minion, but there is no warlock deck that PURPOSEFULLY runs corruption. It comes off dark pedler on occasion and the warlock isn't ususally super happy about it.
I think it would be kind of cool if it were "Silence a friendly minion, then give it +1/+1. Draw a card."
Turn 7: you play spellsinger, get purify, complain about RNG, play some more stuff.
Turn 8: you play the secret that copies whatever your opponent play (miror entitie or something like that, i forget) and some more crap.
Turn 9: purify the majordomo executus you copied from your opponent and play more stuff.

I'm running a fairly decent priest deck at a fairly shitty rank ok. And alot of my opponents are actually net decks working down. Now I don't have enough matches to call it good but it is atleast being consistent.

Thank you kripp for being so brutally honest cause I've always had a soft spot for priest (My first class that I had success with while I was f2p). Thought about having to play around flamestrike and portal on turn 7 in arena and I just didnt have any words....
Know what would make this card strong? Just make it unsilence a minion. Giving it back all buffs it already had. It'll be balanced in the term that it's really good if your foe can only silence it and leave it ( and that'll happen a lot less with that type of card floating around) They just need to not be scared of making new cards that have new mechanics like that. The discover mechanic is pretty sweet and so was inspire. Now just make debuffs that last along with ways to deal with the overpowering silence shit.

1. You will realize that you can remove negative effects from your minions
2. It draws you a card
3. It strictly forbid you from wasting it on enemy minions.

1. He realizes this, but Preist in any game mode except for arena hardly runs cards, especially cards they want to silence. Plus, if you have to silence an arena card you have a bad arena deck.
2. It costs 2 mana, and there is already better ways of drawing cards for 1 mana in preist. Plus, it doesnt mater if your getting rushed down.
3. Wasting it on enemy minions? How exactly?
4. In any game mode tempo is important, if you are not ahead of your opponent you lose because control cards dont do enough. Also the preist combo deck is not a good deck, and definitely will not get better than the other classes any time soon.
5. If they keeper your card, chances are that its already dead, or if you silence your card to fix it either it will lose its abilities that made it strong, or you are already close to death.
Good news to Kripp and all other arena players. Ben Brode just said in his video addressing the concerns on Purify that the HS team was removing Purify from Arena games

I think blizzard dont care about arena. Period. It dosent earn them money, they actually loose money because of good players. They will release good and bad cards because its for balancing all the discover and random effects. Thats what going on there mind. The random plays gets the views on youtube not the calculated plays.

Could've used flawed. Also Blizzard makes some money off the pay4arena option, and even if it DOES lose them money, it is very unlikely, because f2ps will never use money on something like packs, instead I see that it brings them more players and is more friendly toward the f2p crowd.
what makes you think that arena deserves any kind of attention its a shitty mode for casuals who dont have money to buy packs. The game is in constructed and is balanced around that. You cant balance two different modes without removing cards from the draft etc.
If im not mistaken, u need 7 wins to be self sustainable in arena. And only the best players out there get more than 7 wins. The average players get 3 wins. N its safe to say that blizzard earns tons of money in arena from average and bad players

Hey guys blizzard here and we just wanted to say purify is a great card if you combo it with ancient watcher you spend 2 cards to get a 4 mana 4/5! think of all that value... If you want even more value you can try it with zombie chow! its a 3 mana 2/3!!!! Finally we just wanted to say we thought it would be better as a rare but we realized priest is not the best in arena so we made it common so almost all priests will have it!

i can see some plays with this card, it combos well with shadow madness and it is a good alternative to removing a minion out that stops you from doing what you want (ie. auchenai on board when you really need to heal and no way to remove it). This card in general allows you to have more leniency against misreads or misplays.
ain't saying that it's an amazing card, but it can also go well with other cards in the future
If you silence a shadow madness'ed minion it immediately returns it to the opponent. You don't get to keep it since the spell effect is to temporarily gain control of the minion for 1 turn. Silencing ends it prematurely.

This is one of the many reasons why i will stop playing hearthstone. Blizzard has no idea how to make cards and try to balance the game.
They are the worst class right now, but there always HAS to be ninth best class. Besides they don't have very bad winrate, and people are playing priest wrong imo. Most of cards that current priest runs are too slow for him. Midrange dragon priest performs well and they will get new good dragons with karazhan. It's all good :)
Considering the meta right now, Priest might be the worst but it's not even half bad for someone with a pimped out deck. I have a burst mage and zoolock that both get owned by priest. That's half the fucking meta atm.

9th class with 1 archetype dragon. most other classes have 3+ semi viable decks. Blizzard gets a free pass for being blizzard.
There is one reason to play the card, is basically like playing a deck that is based around bringing out minions that have a debuff but can be used to defend yourself. Silencing or negating someones effect has been around in card games for a long ass time, but I wouldn't straight up call it the worst card in the game as it has it's combos and it can bring out some pretty destructive elements to the field. I think you have discarded some of the possibilities which with Barnes is pretty high and even the 4 mana 7/7, which we know is a very deadly thing. This card basically has the same cost as the 7/7 with shaman as the shaman card has a 2 overcharge which is like loses 2 mana (unless unlocked but that's a minimum of 2 mana so you still lose it anyway.)
Purify is basically a way to increase consistency of silences and it could bring a weird priest deck into play, which could be quite good as the cost reduction is great.
One thing I keep seeing you hearthstone "pros" do is discard a card just because you read the text thought of a few things and straight up called it bad; HELL you called doctor boom bad and see where that went. my advise for you people is to not listen these idiots as they can't predict for shit.

I think he covered that in 2 different videos and both times he said that when blizzard nerfs cards they kill cards, and the other is that it would have been just fine if it was only 2 mana with the new effect; I could be wrong and it is the same video but I'm not 100% sure

Not even close to being true. Those two both actually have a positive effect on the game, as minute as it might be.
Demonfuses are usable in the late game, plus warlock doesn't need it,the priest needs every bit of help they can get, but Blizzard only flings shit at it.

I am a person who mained priest since beta. I've endured all the nerfs, the cards being removed because they were 'bad' (I'm looking at you, Fade) but turned out to having been great in the current meta. My first golden hero was Anduin. I reached legend for the first time with a control priest in vanilla, and made it a mission to reach legend with priest at least once per expansion - even after Naxx when everything started going really downhill for priests. And I've succeeded, as tough as it's been.
But not after WotOG. I'm averaging 5.2 wins in arena with priests (as opposed to 6.8 total, 7.8 with mage and 7.4 with Warlock), and though I reached rank 3 the first month of WotOG, I couldn't get up there. I was stuck between 3 and 5 for 15 days and ended up just doing the last three ranks with zoo.
I've tried finding the unicorn priest since Ben "I can't believe I haven't been fired yet" Brode hinted that there might be something. I've failed miserably. I've tried aggro priest, midrange (stupid, I know, but hey - had to try), combo priest, control, dragon tempo, dragon control, C'thun, Yogg, freeze priest, N'Zoth, and numerous versions of Reno priests. Never gotten higher than rank 3.
And now I've given up. After seeing the priest cards (and the other cards) in Karazhan, I am officially not playing priest anymore until the next expansion. If I get a priest quest, I will delete it. I have already deleted my priest decks. The day the last Kara cards were released, was the saddest day in my Hearthstone 'career'.
You win, Blizzard. You've killed priests. I accept it. Just do us all a favour and delete the class from your system, so we don't have to pretend like you give an ounce of a shit about it.

I´m pretty sure that would be broken as fuck. Wild Growth is seen as a mandatory card in almost every single Druid deck...and the crytsal´s empty. Silencing a minion for a card AND a permanent crytsal? Nope.
That's a bit overboard. It would be amazing as a 0 mana draw a card deck thinner, just because the drawback isn't all that bad, since there are a lot of good minions people play that aren't hurt too badly by silence (Zombie Chow, Ancient Watcher, Acidic Swamp Ooze, Deathlord, Spider Tank, etc.).

+Joe PIlling no -1 is correct. Assuming cards 'cost' mana, and you are subtracting mana from your current mana pool, having a '-1 cost card' would equal out to 'gain 1 mana this turn'. A '+1 mana' is equivalent to a 1 mana card.

I don't mind if they move away from mind control, shadow madness and such cards. But Thoughtsteal and Mindivison are legit, that's copying, not stealing.
Mind Control seems almost no play and shadow madness is normally about as good as multi-shot which sees very little play too. They're also great cards for the game because you're required to play around them, bait them out etc.

And I dislike super aggressive play styles making me a control/combo player wishing for the death of aggro shaman. Being able to steal the scummy op cards people would play makes control priest oh so satisfying. But I'll still get wrecked my midrange/freeze/ and combos sometimes.
I think I disagree with all of these people saying Purify is bad.
Kripp assumes in this video that silencing your own minion is a BAD effect, that comes with a card draw. To be fair, in Arena, silencing your own minion is almost always a bad thing. So Purify is a very bad card, for Arena, especially since it's common.
BUT, silencing your own minions has TONS of applications in constructed. Here is a list of some off the top of my head:
-An enemy Paladin pulls out a Humility, Repentance, or Eadric the Pure. You can silence your big minions back to full attack on your turn if they aren't killed.
-An enemy Mage freezes your big minion to buy themselves time and leaves their face/important minion open, expecting it to be safe. Nope. Silence your own minion and the freeze effect disappears.
-As a Priest, play Herald Volazj or Barnes. Summon 1/1 copy of your big minions, then silence the 1/1 copy. Suddenly the flimsy 1/1 Ragnaros that probably won't survive more than 1 turn becomes an 8/8. The second Deathwing Dragonlord (that you don't need the deathrattle effect of because you already have one on the board, the one you duplicated) turns from a 1/1 with useless deathrattle into a 12/12. Et cetera, plenty more good minions for this combo.
-Play Eerie Statue or Fel Reaver in your deck. Throw it out there. Your opponent will either waste valuable removal killing an otherwise useless card (unlikely, they will probably just ignore it), or you get a 7/7 for 6 mana (same as a flamewreathed) and draw a card to replace the extra one you used (since flamewreathed is only 1 card, this combo is 2 cards). With Fel Reaver, you probably want to play them in the same turn, not one turn apart, but you can get an 8/8 for 7 mana, and cycle a card. Or you can leave it at 5 mana 8/8 if you think you can win and deal with the card burn from Reaver. Flexibility.
-Silencing Soulpriest if you need to heal. Silencing Spawn of Shadows if you want to heal instead of trading 4 damage for 2 damage. Silencing your Deathwing Dragonlord if you decide you don't want to put al your dragons out at once, like if you think your opponent has a Deathwing or Doom or Twisting Nether saved to clear them out. Dealing with emergencies like that.
-Using Shadow Madness to steal an enemy minion and silencing it will make it your minion permanantly, essentially making it a cheaper but more limited Mind Control. Also, if you steal a minion from an opponent that has an effect you don't like (for example, you get a Void Crusher from a Warlock using Thoughtsteal, Entomb, or Mind Vision) you can still play that minion without having to restrict your plays, it just costs two extra mana.
Obviously all of these uses are limited and situational, but all the little situational uses and the flexibility of this card make it pretty good. The sort of Priest Deck I'm thinking of would, of course, run such cards as Herald Volazj, Barnes, some big dragons along with Deathwing Dragonlord for endgame, Soulpriest, Eerie Statue/Fel Reaver (but not both), Thoughtsteal, Shadow Madness, The Beast, a few others, and then fill in the rest of the deck slots however you like.
I'm not claiming it's a top-tier card by any means, and won't save priest as a class. Not even close. But I think people are not very aware of what this card is capable of.
And to those of you who say "Just run regular Silence, problem solved", what if I want silences for my own minions AND the enemy minions? What if I don't want to run out of cards because my opening hand had a 0 cost card that didn't cycle in a class with no card draw? What if, heaven forbid, I end up wanting to silence my own minions...MORE THAN TWICE? I could run two Fel Reavers and two Eerie Statues and silence them all. Fel Reavers, 5 mana 8/8 with Silence. Eerie Statue, 6 mana 7/7 and draw a card with Purify. If I have the coin, I could play a turn 3 7/7, turn 4 purify, attack, and hero power, turn 5 8/8, turn 6 7/7...assuming I had all the right cards in hand of course. But the point is, while that is unlikely, the card can be used for other things besides just this combo.
I don't think that's that bad. It's not amazing, but it's not as bad as everyone's making it out to be.
Then you would play silence, which has even more uses and costs even less than this garbage.
Edit: Purify IS bad. There's no debate about it. When you look at other cards from other classes, you can easily see how bad it is. Hell, you know how bad it is if you look at Priest itself. They have a 1 mana spell, that draws AND gives your minion +2 health, and they have a 0 mana silence.
Purify is a 2 mana spell, that you ONLY CAN USE ON YOUR OWN MINIONS, and cycles. That's absolutely trash compared to some cards from other classes.
Flare, Mark of Y'shaarj, Battle Rage, Ancestral Knowlegde, Loot Hoarder, Shiv, Slam, Wrath, Commanding Shout, hell, even Novice Engineer is better.
Combine that with the fact, that it's absolutely fucking useless right now, and it's just even worse. I understand the Hearthstone team wants to push a new archetype with self silence and stuff, but right now, it's not something that works, because there aren't enough cards that benefit, and those that do, aren't good enough in any way. If they wanted this to be a viable card, they should have put it out in the NEXT expansion, where more cards are going to get revealed, and where it can get some synergy.
What Priest needs right now, is early game. Strong early game. A 2 mana spell, that is completely useless, is probably the worst thing they ever could have done.

I am happy that you are passionate but keep it short. I say this as a fellow rambler.
The problem with all your examples is that all those plays are already possible with regular silence. If making plays like Eerie statue or fel reaver into silence was good enough it would already see play.
But all your plays are simply too weak too slow or too inconsistant.
Imagine you play eerie statue and then next turn you purify it.
Congratulations you just needed a 2 card combo to play the exact same card as shaman does in 1. However even the 4 mana shaman card is no longer an auto include.
Ofcourse you are right if you want to play a deck like that you will need more draw. But the more bad/situational cards that are in your deck the more draw you need in the first place.
If purify cost 0 mana your deck idea might have a small chance.
It would make sense if the card also healed your cards in the process, maybe make it's namesake understandable.
While we are on the topic of healing, Priest needs a healing effect reminiscent of the Shaman's totem effect, where the number of heals builds some sort of efficient drop, like Thing from below does for Shaman. Auchenai needs friends to back her up, and 9 times out of 10, they're too big or inconsistent to combo, or hell, too weak to put a dent in, say, that 2/6 four drop warrior has, among others.
It's like the priest lacks an identity, and keeps trying to be different classes with his healing spells, but ultimately, needs healing synergy of his own. Actual control, not just situational garbage. Actual power, not just burst one offs that are more combo intensive than Rogue. Actual strategies, not just piling legendaries and hoping for the best. That's what the priest is in the Meta right now. A lost child among champions.

How to make this card usable:
Have it "unsilence" a minion, basically like a delayed Counterspell. That stops the easy silence removal of powerful priest big minions.

You also get card draw, which pretty much means that it's .5 mana silence a friendly minion. Which makes ancient watcher a 2.5 mana 4/5 Or a 4 mana 4/5 draw a card, which is good.
They probably made the card cost two mana because you can spend the same amount of mana on your hero power to draw a card from a Northshire Cleric on the board.
So a card to cater for the times when you don't have a Northshire Cleric on the board.
This synergizes well with the 6 mana 3/3 that has battlecry: destroy an enemy minion no? Now you can play the 6 mana card and then silence it and then draw. It stops the deathrattle effects from going off.

Ya, I agree, i love priest, and even in this meta i try to force a control priest deck to work, and I was excited about this expansion thinking priest might get a little buff, then saw this here. And just cried a little at the state of the meta.

Priest is one of the most entertaining classes to play in the right meta... that pretty much never surfaces.... and they are still not broken when they are in their ideal matchups most of the time. Priest needs a lot of love. You could buff a multitude of priest cards that are played, by signifigant amounts, in priest and STILL it would not approach overpowered.

Super Synergy: The trick is to spent time and spells to buff your own minion and then ..... suddenly purify it...you need to lmao or baffle your opponent till they concede of ''your'' madness or make him to do mistakes...... it is a very sneaky card that can catch your opponent by surprise even by seeing you using it... i highly recommend you guys to use this card!!!!!
