  • The Insta360 GO 3 is the successor to one of my favourite action cameras, the tiny, thumb sized 26g GO 2. It has improved image quality, longer battery life and most noticeably it now comes with the Action Pod - a camera dock with a super-responsive flip screen which extends the battery life and allows remote preview and control of the camera.
    I’ve been using the GO 3 almost non-stop for 4 months now and have recorded hours of footage. Rather than my typical review, I'm going to cover 5 things I like about this camera and 5 things I’m not so keen on, to help you decide if this is the right action camera for you.
    If you want to skip forward or back at any time in this video, please use the chapter markers TH-cam creates from the timestamps down below and in the pinned comment.

    You covered a lot of speeds people don't mention such as file transfer -- thumbs up!!!! My daughter is 6. I was pondering putting it on her to get 6 year old POV. I mean I have lots of photos of walking to the guide robot at the super market or ordering donuts at the bakery. I want to see her looking up ordering food or riding her scooter or her dancing with the robot (yes, my grocery store has a guide robot with a dance mode). I have you tried the pendant on your kids especially that up angle attachment to get a looking up POV (then again if your kids are 16 -- not as interesting)

      Glad it helped! No sorry my youngest is probably too old - but let me know how it works out!

    Any chance of a Anker Solix review? I'm anticipating the older models having good deals soon, and it's hard to decide whether the newer models offer enough of a boost for my purposes. The Kickstarter one looks incredible though.

      I don't currently have one to review but thanks for the suggestion - will look into it!

    A great review Thankyou. I’ve just purchased one and as a content creator I’m hoping it’s more versatile than my go pro. How does it work with the invisible selfie stick please?

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great hope it helped! You can't make the selfie stick invisible since it's not a 360° camera, but you can still use the selfie stick with the GO 3.

    If you want me to compare the GO 3 to Insta360’s flagship 360° camera, the X3 or the GoPro Hero 12 or any other camera for that matter, please let me know down below. If you already have the GO 3 I’d love to hear what you think of it - what’s your favourite feature?

    I have only had my Go3 5 days,I love it but having trouble when biking seeing the horizon, been using the pendant with wedge. I tend to get a little bit above handlebars only. Maybe i need to shorten the cord closer to neck? 😮

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes I find that the pendant even with the wedge is not perfect. Does depend on your position on the the bike. I would try shorting the cord to raise the camera slightly.

    Thought about getting the go3, but I have a Hero 10. I was going to use it for jogging this Spring. But seems like the go3 is same quality or less since Hero 10 is 4k.

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The GO 3 is not as good quality as the Hero 10 - but good enough in many cases!

    Do you find it awkward or difficult to start recording when only using the camera and not the pod being that the record button is in the front and not the back. ? Seems like it would be have been more advantageous to have the recording button in the back but then I guess you couldn’t attatch it magnetically to anything. Anyway what do you think ?

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never found that a problem myself.

    Is it a good go-to action cam for taking photos? Or does it need to be frequently edited after each shot to make it look great?

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'll always use my phone for photos if I have it with me. But photos are pretty good off the GO 3. And frame captures from video recordings look decent too.

  • @youonlytubeonce
    @youonlytubeonce 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You said you get 45 minutes per charge without the pod. I am only getting 30. Does duration depend on shooting mode? I haven't tried free frame yet. I was using time shift at 1440/15 and also default video at 30fps.
    The time shift seems a bit choppy just walking around compared to yours as well.

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes runtime will depend on mode, thermals etc. 45 minute will be best case scenario.

      Hi.. may i ask, can you record while charging the body pod? Like lets say we use a powerbank.. thanks

    • @youonlytubeonce
      @youonlytubeonce 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@si_yansen yes. Best practice for anything long. Check out the starlapse tutorial. Also I attach the brick with rubber bands to a tripod leg as a counterweight or for wind stability.
      The charging system is not the best IMO. Like, no way to limit charge of cam for battery protection or that leaving it out of the pod which is probably not a good idea for storage.

    Thanks. Now I know not to get this. Which action-camera would you use for a three camera shoot of an interview? I've been using three Galaxy S21 Ultras on monopods with double blue-tooth clip-on mics in the phones' c-ports, and then editing in Davinci, TimeBolt, and then Camtasia. Guests scoff at the camera phones. But I like the lightness of this 3-camera kit I've put together. Action cameras would keep it light. Which action camera would you use for a set-up like this?

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Even the best action cameras probably won't be as good as your smart phones. If you don't need a rugged solution I'd probably stick with what you have! I am currently testing Insta360's Ace Pro - I will try and compare it to me iPhone 15 Pro Max.

    The price is nuts, but nice review

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they could find a way to sell the camera without the pod for a lower price that would be great. But they need a charging solution first. You do get a fair bit for the price but agree it's not cheap.

    quick capture is stuck on default, does it have stabilization

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can change the default modes so I'm not sure which mode you've set it to. But stablisation should be on - either baked in or added by the app.

    I only get 10Mb/s Bluetooth transfer speed to my galaxy zfold5 as well.

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not particularly transferring files - a wired connection will be your best bet.

  • @yoshy2628

    Sorry, but on 128 gb variant you will get around 5 hours and 45 minutes.
    You need no sd card, really. in real life you will have to recharge the camera 8-9 times, in order to fill the 128 gb with footage.
    I bought it for stealth, small, I can attach it to the chest, without being noticed.

    • @TheTechnologyMan
      @TheTechnologyMan  16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree - I have the 64GB and it's plenty most of the time. But you do need to remember to offload the footage, and it's actually the transfer speeds off the internal memory that I find more frustrating.
