    Elvis hated wearing denim because it reminded him of growing up poor. He would wear denim when a movie role required it.

    I bought a Levi Trucker vest on Ebay and love it. I'm in the process of collection band patches so i can metal it up. Awesome picture of Cliff and speaking of him he is getting a memorial style spot on the inside of my vest. I have a shirt that ill cut up and on sew on the interior.

    I just picked up a Levis flannel lined/quilted sleeves type 3 off eBay recently...$43. The only small sign of wear is at the top bend of the collar. Other than that, it's perfectly worn in and looks great. Excellent denim jacket for what I spent.

    I love the type 2 too! I have the Japanese repro of it and fits just perfectly. The type 1 although classic looks very hard to match with everyday outfit unless you're dressing like someone in the 50s. The type 3 has a lot of other variations, but I like them with washed blue color to add that 80s-90s feel to it

    Bravestar denim is absolutely fantastic in every aspect, I have several pairs of their jeans, all cone denim, cant say enough good things about them, USA made down to rivets, buttons and leather patch, before cone mills closed you could get a pair shipped for $70-80 which is an absolute steal, I don’t have one if their jackets yet but I do have a waxed trucker from iron and resin which is also USA made and very high quality

    I picked up an Iron Heart type III in their blue Double Duck. Absolutely love it. At 16.5oz, it's weighty without being too crazy.... but still super durable. Great for early fall/ late spring or layered under a peacoat during the winter. Still really want a Sugarcane Type II though. Both looks have their place.

    • @CarlMurawski
      @CarlMurawski  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You may get several answers, but from what I've seen the original versions were designed to be worn while riding a horse. This is likely what made them "trucker" jackets because sitting in a big rig would make a longer jacket bunch up.

    I'm a big trucker jacket fan and I really enjoyed your trucker jacket video, I have a Levi type 2 trucker jacket a couple of Wrangler trucker jackets one of the Wrangler ones is the winter style with the Sherpa lining which is nice and warm. I've found a Levi type 4 trucker jacket with two inside pockets along with the hand warmer and two front flap pockets and thats the one I'd like to get for Christmas 🎄 😀.

    Super cool video!
    Do you also know about their women’s jackets?
    I got one with the red letters leather patch and loved the cut, then I ordered one from them online with the brown letters leather patch and I hate the cut on me but BOTH are called “Original Trucker Jacket”.
    So, I’m now on ebay trying to find the one with the fit I like but afraid to buy the one I don’t like. Hehe

      It’s so frustrating, Levi’s isn’t really the Levi’s of old. Maybe that’s why their vintage stuff is so expensive. There is a shop called Connors Sewing Factory which makes Levi’s reproductions even better than Levi’s Vintage Clothing! You may pay a bit more but you’ll get exactly what you want.
      Other than that it’s worth scouring the second hand market for an old red letter model.

    All time favorite Levi’s jacket the orange label Levi’s Sherpa lined heavy weight 22 ounce trucker jacket with the stand up Sherpa collar.. I wore it til I couldn’t wear it no more after years of abuse and at some point became so tight on me..Sadly i had to let her go..that’s one you missed out on..the orange label years were the toughest and best for Levi’s in my opinion I had that jacket at least 25 years..hunting fishing changing tires..snow..still can’t find another..

      Wow, what a great story about an even greater jacket! You’re right, I had to cherry pick my facts to make this video as concise as possible, it’s always a compromise. Thanks for sharing!

    Hey, can you do a review on the new Thursday boots jackets(any style they have is fine but I'm partial to the pilot jacket) I saw that satchel and page is discontinuing their jacket line and they've already sold all the jackets in my size.

    • @CarlMurawski
      @CarlMurawski  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw they came out with jackets, but I’ve gotta say that I’m really not impressed with any of them. Their chromexcel biker jacket looks okay but I’d rather get the real deal from Schott Bros. Their flight jackets use a 100% polyester lining which is a pretty poor choice considering the alternatives. For the money I’d go with the Taylor Stitch leather jacket, it’s easily twice the quality for not much more.

    I picked up a trucker's jacket when I was out trucking about 20 years ago. It has all snaps, no buttons anywhere. 2 snaps on each wrist & elongated points on the center flap of the chest pockets. It's most distinctive feature is the dog collar with 2 snaps. It's similar to the one on the vest you're wearing in the video. The Levi Strauss & Co. data tag, inside & top center, has the # 7055-0497. Any info on this jacket? Thank you & a very interesting video.

    Type 3. My first one was in the 70's. My second one I still have, pretty worn from the 80's. Bought another one a few years ago. It's funny, the hand warmer pockets still seem out of place to me. I'm an old fart, time flies!
