  • Levis is a brand that is synonymous with denim and has been an important part of its history. While their jeans deserve their own video entirely, in this video we are focusing on their denim jackets. They later became known as "Trucker Jackets" but were known as simply a jacket or blouse in the early days. So please sit back and enjoy the history of Levi's trucker jackets!

Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well, and allows you to buy less and buy better.

Elvis hated wearing denim because it reminded him of growing up poor. He would wear denim when a movie role required it.

I love the type 2 too! I have the Japanese repro of it and fits just perfectly. The type 1 although classic looks very hard to match with everyday outfit unless you're dressing like someone in the 50s. The type 3 has a lot of other variations, but I like them with washed blue color to add that 80s-90s feel to it

I own the 13.5oz cone mills indigo with brown weft (really more of a tan/khaki) by Brave Star sized in large. I love it, but it is cut a little too slim. To the point where putting my arms straight forward (for driving, biking, etc.) is a heavily restricted movement. Which is a shame because if I lost 15 pounds it would probably fit perfectly but still with the restricted movement. I had a jacket years ago, don’t recall the brand, that had back pleats so that arm motion wasn’t restricted like this. I recently ordered the 22oz brave star, this time in an XL, and I’m hoping for the best...
Now, all that said, that jacket with the waxed denim and flannel lining has got to be the most practical choice. Wish I saw it earlier.

Bravestar denim is absolutely fantastic in every aspect, I have several pairs of their jeans, all cone denim, cant say enough good things about them, USA made down to rivets, buttons and leather patch, before cone mills closed you could get a pair shipped for $70-80 which is an absolute steal, I don’t have one if their jackets yet but I do have a waxed trucker from iron and resin which is also USA made and very high quality

I liked that last one you showed. I bought a wrangler last year on a whim because it was cheap but I ended up not liking the color. I like the dark blue ones the best, I just hate to spend hundreds of dollars on one personally. Someday maybe.

Carl Murawski Yea for sure, it should last for the rest of my life probably. I don’t mind spending money on good things, I just unfortunately don’t have unlimited money right now so I buy the best I can for the things I use the most and the rest trickles down to the infrequently used items. At some point I’ll make the investment in a nice one

I own a pretty original and cool jacket from Denim Demon, Jeansa Japan. It's woven and made completely in Japan although it's a Swedish company. Anyway it's a beautiful denim jacket.

Type 3. My first one was in the 70's. My second one I still have, pretty worn from the 80's. Bought another one a few years ago. It's funny, the hand warmer pockets still seem out of place to me. I'm an old fart, time flies!

Carl, do you have a recommendation for a tall slender build with long arms? I’m 6’2” 165 and the Taylor Stitch long haul was perfect across the chest but short in the sleeves for me. I think that would be a common problem based upon my build but wondered if you knew of a particular brand that had notably longer sleeves in proportion to the body measurements? Thanks!

What about the waxed trucker bro? I'm scouting one on e-bay...
Also, I have an old waxed jacket - like a Barbour. But the make is "Squire". I'm in the UK, do you have any history on the make of this jacket? It could be 20+ years old. I couldn't find any info about it...

All time favorite Levi’s jacket the orange label Levi’s Sherpa lined heavy weight 22 ounce trucker jacket with the stand up Sherpa collar.. I wore it til I couldn’t wear it no more after years of abuse and at some point became so tight on me..Sadly i had to let her go..that’s one you missed out on..the orange label years were the toughest and best for Levi’s in my opinion I had that jacket at least 25 years..hunting fishing changing tires..snow..still can’t find another..
