I alternate between these 2 tasks in the bathroom between proper cleanings: 1. Before flushing the toilet, grab a square of toilet paper and dust the flat surfaces (top of the tank, toilet seat, behind toilet seat) 2. Buff water spots from the sink's faucet
I don’t fold undies or socks because I put them in just the right size baskets on my closet shelves AND I ONLY WEAR ONE NEUTRAL TYPE OF UNDIES, ONE TYPE OF SOCKS FOR REGULAR WEAR AND ONE FOR TENNIS SHOES, ONE NEUTRAL KIND OF BRA. Makes it so easy! JUST GRAB FROM THE DRYER AND DROP INTO THE BASKET!😊
@@jennyjenkins877 yes! Great ideas… I recently made a mistake that I will mention just so you don’t have it happen to you…I am also constantly buffing my super pretty modern faucets in the bathroom but even with buffing, hard water deposits can build up and my go to method has been to rubber band a baggie of vinegar to the tip for a while and it comes right off…well, it damaged the finish on these new super pretty brushed silver ones. Now one of them looks like it has water spots on it… I’m a bit sick about it but nothing to do now…too pricey to replace and it’s fairly mild, mostly I will notice it, but I am selling and was trying so hard to have everything sparkling!🙃🙃🙃
@@donnacarraway9182 That's so unfortunate! Every cleaning channel out there recommends that method it seems. If it's within the return window and the package didn't have any warnings against using an acid-based cleaner, maybe you can exchange it for a new one. I messed up the finish on my chrome faucet by using hydrogen peroxide. It's frustrating when your good intentions backfire! 😕
One of the best cleaning tips/tricks I ever heard or read (I don't remember where) is that, anything you can do in 1 minute or less, do it right now. So I'll set a timer for 10 minutes and YES I really can get 10 things done in 10 minutes. Or less! It's (almost) fun if I make it a game or a challenge, and a lot can get done in a short amount of time with almost no effort.
I do not place perishable scraps/leftovers in the kitchen trash. I place them in a plastic-lined container in the door of my freezer, then add them to the trash right before I take it out.
Scan a room every time you leave it… if there is something that does not belong… take it with you and put it away. Second, I don’t collect a lot of “ freebies” any more. Just becomes clutter
Noooooo! All those plastic bags going out daily?!? We have a trash compactor, and a family of 5 produces one bag of trash in the kitchen per week. 42 bags a year, and we buy compostable bags. Don’t know how good they really are at breaking down, but I hope it helps…
One of my favorite one-minute tasks is to "marry" like items together. For example, if there are two open jars of pickles in the fridge, just combine them into one jar so it only takes up half as much space. If we have a few open bags of snack food, like pretzels and goldfish, etc. that aren't getting eaten, I will make a snack mix in a mason jar or food storage container and leave it out on the counter. That makes it into something "new" they can see easily, and my kids are more likely to eat that than to finish what is left in the bottom of three different bags. Plus, it gets a lot of empty bags and jars out of the house. But it also works for things that are not food, like bottles of shampoo.
There are a few that may take slightly longer. When I was thinking of this list I wasn’t really including the prep time that would be needed…like mixing up the grout cleaner for example - the 1 minute was for the actual physical work. ❤️
Many of these are only 'one minute' if you're already set up to do them. Taking out any of the tools to complete these tasks would take up a few minutes before I even begin. To think you could do all of these in 30 minutes ( or 60 ) is a bit misleading. However, I still think it's a great list of quick chores and I enjoyed watching your video.
I’m a big fan of fast cleaning tips, but I’m much too slow to finish them in 1 minute, but, as you said, even if it’s 2 or 3 minutes, it’s worth it! Thank you Angela, you nailed it once again.
Absolutely! Even if you take longer to do these simple tasks, that’s ok! Maybe you do fewer each day- but not everything on this list needs to be done every day anyway! ❤️
Awesome! This may be a tool that I look into for the future. For now I am content with my broom…but I’ve heard great things about cordless vacuums as well! ❤️
My heart rejoices when Tuesday comes and there is a new video from you! Daily routine: Bible study, prayer, Angela, and then the day is on the right path 👏🏻❤
@@kristieshoemake7343 years ago I worked in retail where had a wall of levi jeans and cords that required constant straightening….I loved working the wall….lost in my thoughts folding. I even fold my underwear, i use the store fold method for my t shirts….but putting away, I have one closet that has huge shelves…feels like a retail shelf…that’s where folded tees and pants go…we should live together. I love to cook, my daughter hates to cook…but she loves to clean up…but she got married and so the clean up is back on me.
This is my very first time watching your channel, and I am both impressed and embarrassed by the fact that there are 7 people in your home and it is so clean and organized. You see, ...wait for it...I am the only person living on my home - it's just me - and it looks as if there are 10 people here. I am recovering from depression and your video is just what I needed to motivate me. I love the one-minute concept (except for me it will be two-minutes.) I like the idea of small incremes. So, off I go (starting tomorrow because it's kinda late) and I look forward to having a noticeably cleaner home very soon. I LOVE your content and I thank you for your videos...
You’ve got this! Just a minute (or two) at a time will make a huge difference. Find that consistency and you’ll have your home looking the way you want in no time!! ❤️
For magazines, I first remove the cover to use as a “folder” for pages I remove. This makes the issue easy to keep track of. I keep my AD collection in a magazine file.
It's only a minute at your age. The older you get the slower you are. NO one your age can comprehend this. I didn't and so far all of the old ladies I know agree. Enjoy and appreciate your youth and energy... You won't always have it and YOU WILL BE SURPRISED. 😊
I can definitely believe that! I think that the main takeaway from the video is that these are all fairly easy tasks that can be completely rather quickly (maybe not in a minute for everyone)…but some of these we build up in our heads to think that they are so much more difficult than they really Are. It’s not so much about the time it takes, but the habit and consistency of doing them! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage Please understand that being old and taking longer to complete tasks, having done this kind of work for at least 50 years - that's a lot of habit and consistency! - is not about attitude to the task or procrastination. It is about physical ability. It is about coping with pain and some loss of strength or mobility, it is about having a body that no longer performs for you as it once did yet your brain thinks it can! It is about living with another who needs care yet does not follow this kind of advice - suffers, therefore, from stuff everywhere. Yes, you may be able to "definitely believe that" but perhaps you have yet to experience anything like it.🧡 🙂
Changing artwork like a gallery is a great idea,🍀and you can avoid "sign blindness" = where you stop seeing things after they've been in the same place for a long time. That said, some artwork I'd like to keep in their one special place 🖼️. Your tips make actual sense, based on cleanliness, and your home has wonderful wood floors! You make sense to me! Thanks for video!
It really does amaze me how much visual change just rotating artwork can have! I do understand that in some situations, finding that ‘perfect spot’ is helpful too! Have a great day! ❤️
I don’t make my bed until later in the day because beds need to air out. I put my comforter outside and let it breathe. Beds need to breather during the day.
@@vivian9803 agreed. I just take the Scandinavian approach and wait until my blankets outside are aired out, open my windows and let the air hit the sheets and then make my bed by noon. It’s more extreme but I also have mold sickness so I am extreme about airing out my house.
I love this! I empty my vacuum cleaner just about every time I'm done using it. I'm fascinated to see how much dust accumulates in the canister even though my rug doesn't look very dirty. So that keeps me motivated to empty it. Try it, and see if that helps. 😊
I appreciate how you included things like fresh flowers and rolling your lamp shades! Brushing the toilet and under the seat is quick too. Great tip about the boiled vinegar and water👍
Great video! These are important (but easy to forget) tasks. It’s refreshing to think how little time they take and what a disproportionate effect they have on the comfort and beauty of your home. Thank you!
Yes! That was the main intent of the video. Often we build these tasks in our minds as so difficult or that they will take forever. When in reality, just starting is the hardest part! Some people are taking the whole ‘one minute’ thing waaaay too literally. So thank you for understanding my intent! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage I do like making beds too! Although I do them differently because of the humid climate here. I fold the sheets in a neat way, fold the night cloths, give care to the pillows and leave the bed open, so the matras can ventilate. That is not as beautiful like your way, but this works better here and it also gives the vibe of I do like😊
I love that you still have houseplants as a minimalist. I won't bring any flowers into my home because I know it will lead to more mess when they drop off bit by bit, and then I have to find extra time to clean out the vase every few days. I do, however, have plants anywhere that I can. I love getting them to help in detoxing the air.
Every morning after I've finished showering etc, I take a minky cloth from the stack in the bathroom cupboard, and wipe round. Toilet last. Denture tablets in the toilet bowl and cistern and leave to soak. Of course I do a deep clean but this everyday maintenance just makes it look nicer.
@@ArrowHillCottage I've no idea whether it's recommended by plumbers, but my husband used to work for a sanitaryware manufacturer and hasn't advised against them, whereas he would always say you should never soak the toilet bowl in bleach (over time it degrades the glaze). Luckily we have only one toilet, and one toilet brush :D
You are so right about doing short tasks! I learned and love this! The very needed one for me today is the vinegar/ boiling water method for the kitchen sink drain…it can smell and I often pour some bleach there but if this works it will be so welcome!! Thank you so much! You have a new subbie!!💕
I was taught to pull the bedding back when I got up and then after showers breakfasts to then make the bed and reset the bedroom. This was to air the linens but also to give a place that is welcoming at the end of a long day.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s, in a family of 7. Our home was never cluttered. Up until I was 13 we had one bathroom. It's really not hard to keep a home tidy. The less you have the easier it is. We were always busy doing activities outside of the home.
Getting it done on exactly a minute isn’t the goal. We all work at different paces. The main point of the video is to recognize that many tasks around the home really don’t take nearly as long as we think they will. I wonder if you set a timer and washed just one window…how long would it take? Now if you did that same thing each day with just ONE- how quickly the entire big chore would be done. Also- when a person puts forth that first minute of work, they are more likely to want to continue for a while longer. It’s like a snowball rolling downhill! ❤️
Nothing new for me but great tips that certainly make a big difference. I feel consistency is the key and these tasks just become routine with no drama involved.
I know I'm strange but I love having my laundry folded and put away. Another is to take out the trash. A rule in my house has always been "nothing on the floor". I raised 4 children born a total of 5 years apart. It was a safety precaution keeping the floors cleared of objects. The biggest bad habit that I could never stop from doing was leaving drinking glass around the house. I just developed the habit of collecting glasses as I go from one room to the next. In their defense we live in the Arizona desert and getting enough liquids is imperative.
These are all great tasks to do and I enjoyed watching this. However, since I do these tasks regularly, I know that many are, realistically, far more than 1 minute tasks. For example, cleaning all the lamp shades in my house would take be at least 10 minutes. And doing all of these tasks in one day would take at least 4 hours and, likely, 6 or more.
The idea was that you could clean ONE lampshade in a minute. The video was meant to get people thinking about the amount of time they envision a task will take and the actual time it does. Usually that amount is far less than what we had it built up in our minds to be. ❤️
@6.50 Pour vinegar and boiling water- use this combo for descaling the kettle or your washing machine too. It's the best for cleaning out the kettle and takes almost no time or effort. Add a cup of vinegar to an almost full kettle of water. Boil several times. Then discard the vinegar water and rinse. Add more plain water and boil then discard. That's all it takes.
Wonderful tips! Thank you. I also “employ” a very basic model Roomba vac (I think it was on sale for 200 bucks) to help with keeping my LVT floors throughout my home free of dust bunnies and dirt that get under the beds, coffee table, and all along the baseboards. Since I started using it about two years ago my full floor cleaning tasks has been much easier!
Great idea for me because I am about to put my house up for sale and wondering how I am ever going to keep it perfect!! I bought my son one a couple of years ago when he was super stressed at work…it was one of the few things that I could think of to help him.
I also use a vacuum on all my floors. I have spinal issues and stooping down with a handbrush and dustpan to gather all the sweepings was getting to me. The vac has been a blessing. Also means I keep on top of the cobwebs as it's so easy to just hit them on sight as I go around.
Hi emptying the indoor buns constant helps us other wise people keep loading the bin to the max .then it's difficult to get the bag out of the bin .with stuff spilling out onto the floor .your house is so nice x

That’s okay! I should have really pointed out in the video that everyone will work at their own pace and to do these things in exactly one minute isn’t the main goal. It’s more important to just recognize that these tasks don’t take as long as we sometimes build up in our minds…and if we can get in the habit of just doing them routinely, they will become like second nature and be even easier for us to do! ❤️
@3.06 Pushing in the chairs. Likewise, I used to go around my parents' home and close all the cupboards. I have no idea why they leave so many ajar. At their old home (the one I grew up in and they had for 54 years), the kitchen upper cupboards were at a height that would meet beautifully with my eyes when the doors were left open (I'm the only short one in the family). Walking into the kitchen was a danger zone for me!
These are indeed great 1 minute habits. Most of them are 1 minute. Some are not, mixing peroxide, baking soda and water and applying to the grout in the shower with a toothbrush is absolutely going to take more than 1 minute or 2 minutes. Cleaning out the fridge and wiping down the shelves (& your picture showed the shelves were emptied completely) does take far longer. I do agree that all these caring house tasks are not difficult and do bring us contentment and pride. Your caring spirit is appreciated.
You are right. Some things will take longer than a minute. For the tile scrub- I just have a container that I keep the mixture in and then set a timer for 1 minute before getting in the shower to scrub. After a week or so of that the shower is sparkling! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Another quick clean item is your garbage disposal. Take lemons after you use them and grind them up with running water. Makes it smell wonderful and helps clean!
I do several of these chores routinely. I also do a few of them not nearly often enough (vacuum cleaner fluff!). I'm going to start cleaning my windows -- maybe one at a time -- and also dusting the lights. Great ideas!!😊
No 24 We clean our vacuum 2 to 4 times when vacuuming, Once at the end, always. My child who vacuum leaves it clean so it doesn't stinkup. They empty it outside at the big trash bin to keep the dust outside.
I bet that helps things smell fresh! I personally am pretty sensitive to scents, so I wouldn’t be able to do that in my home - but I can see how it would add a nice cozy element! ❤️
Why would you / your family wish to inhale lab made chemicals in your home. Colognes are not good for your respiratory health any more than cigarettes are…from a RN/ RRT
I've had two those double boilers (coleus planting segment 4:10 😀) for more than 50 years. And I grew up with one, too, come to think of it. I use mine for something every day. Thanks for all the tips.
Although I agree that most of these things will take more than a minute, the premise here is that these things things should be on a continual rotation basis in our homes to maintain it. I think her point really is that with continual maintenance, these tasks will take much less time.
Ultimately, yes…that is my point. I’m not totally sure why people are so caught up in the specific one minute metric. Some people will be able to do these tasks quicker and some more slowly. That’s okay! ❤️
Great video that has given me some useful ideas however, it has left me wondering if I work particularly slowly. For instance, no way could I create that mixture and scrub all the grout in my bathroom in one minute.
I suppose I should have been more clear on that point. You can mix up the mixture to have on hand…then, 10-15 min before you shower just set a timer for a minute and scrub a POrTION of the grout. You can do this over the course of many days until all grout is clean. The mixture can store for over a week. I just keep it in my bathroom ❤️
For the ones you think would take longer, I would encourage you to just work for one minute and see how much you get accomplished. You might be surprised! And, if you only put forth one minute and are close to finishing - you might be motivated to finish the job. Really though…it’s not so much about setting a time limit to the these tasks, it’s about committing to a habit that can be done almost automatically. ❤️
To think that it takes only one minute is the best trick of all times!!!🎉 many just do it for one minute? I do it with the shower. Spray all, but do only a little part wit much intensity. I like the 2 Minute Hotspot rule. Clearing up placers wich are clutter magnets. I will rename it to 1 minute hotspot. The motivation is the trick. Greetings to the nagging correct and non emphatic kritisch, above.
I don’t have one because I despise this place! I did want to mention that if I ever got to build my own home? It would only have 1 window in it!! ❤️ love your videos
I found that sometimes you just have to make it your space for a while. I have been in places I hated and I had never really thought about it. But just doing one thing to make it your own. All my places have been tiny, which is one reason I felt lost. The last place, I didn't even have a living room. I know it's weird, but I noticed that they have no living room on Little House on the Prairie. They entertain everyone at the kitchen table. I know it's only a short snippet of the show, but it inspired me. I started doing that and one person actually said they loved being at my house. I have a friend and when I go to her house, we sit at tray tables to eat and her house is VERY messy because she has a lot going on in her family. I had always been kind of uncomfortable having only tray tables at my house. But I love going there because I just love being with her. Try to notice the things around around you and what you can do to make your place as nice and comfortable as possible, even if it is only having a special plant or picture to give you joy.
Do you have any tips for problem family mess? I mean for when you live with a dropper and forgetter or a peron that throws rubbish literally on the floor or table? Feeling overwelmed here and Im sure there ARE tips but I never see them anywhere.
My daughter got her husband used to not setting things on the counter by constantly removing them and taking a while to retrieve them when he wanted them. He soon caught on and stopped using counters as a dumping ground. It was actually rather funny. He respects her desire to have a clean organized home and enjoys those benefits himself.
Sadly, my blog/website is severely neglected! At some point I would like to have pdfs available - but I simply have not prioritized my time to do that yet. You can still take a screen shot from the end of the video if you want a list. ❤️
I maybe should have made that point more clear …for tasks like that I was referring to perhaps one Room/ area in a minute …or one load of laundry. Really though, the main premise isn’t so much about getting things done in exactly a minute- it was more to point out that these things don’t really take nearly as long as we build them up in our minds. Using those ‘spare minutes’ productively can make a huge difference over time, if done consistently!! ❤️
We all work at our own pace, for sure…but the point of the video is that many of the standard house chores around the home don’t take nearly the amount of time that we build them up in our minds! So even if it takes you 5….its certainly better to work on it and get it done than to avoid it because of worry that it will take a long time. ❤️
Sweep or vacuum once a day? I need to vacuum, sweep, and dust mop every single day if I want just the upstairs flooring in my home to look good. I have a yellow lab who sheds so much, it's unreal.
Oh wow. Yeah, that would be tricky. I don’t have a pet - but I wonder if there is a groomer who might be able to thin hair or do some coat maintenance to help with the shedding? ❤️
Each to his own, but I'm glad my husband and I don't have dogs. We do, however, have 1 cat who mostly stays outside. This 1 pet keeps us vacuuming on a regular basis lol
1. Takes more than a minute to gather donations & take to charity shop, especially if you don't drive 2. Takes more than a minute to fold & put away laundry 4. Takes more a minute 8. Takes more than a minute to aquire & arrange flowers 10.. Takes a lot more than a minute & they DO appear indoors! 11. Takes more than a minute 12. See 11 13. See 12 14. See 13 15. And again 16. Same. 20. Depends how many rooms you have 21. See 16 22. What's the point? 25. Takes more than a minute 26. Is this a joke? 27. Come on now 29. Way more than a minute 30. Yup, more than a minute 31. It takes more than a minute to remove the cover & a lot longer to clean out the filter 33. Depends how many lamps you have. Summary: Its impossible to complete these tasks in half an hour.
OMG...I am laughing so hard! I always look to see if someone posts 'the list' so I don't actually have to watch the video. Your reply is epic! Now I have to watch the video so I know what you are responding to. Thank you so much for taking the time to make a list and for making me laugh!
Thanks for watching! I would encourage you to set a timer for yourself and see how little time these tasks actually take. Many times we think things will take longer than they actually do ❤️
washing out the bathroom sink after getting ready for bed and brushing your teeth,,, wipe off the faucet and get all the spots off,,, make sure no toothpaste glops are in the bottom of the sink
Sorry, I didn’t make a PDF. Could you try a screenshot? I may go back and make PDF files eventually for the other list videos, but I don’t have a timeline for that ❤️
Love your videos. I always look forward to them. Was wondering if you have a PDF of your list at the end. I started typing it up as a reminder then thought I may be reinventing the wheel so I should ask. Also... just FYI... for some reason your "website" link is adding on some characters at the end when clicked so it doesn't look as though it's taking me to your page. The other links seemed to work. Just wanted to let you know since it immediately started asking me to click other things on the page. TIA
The idea with those is that you offer up just a minute at a time. Instead of scrolling social media or whatever…grab a magazine and pull out some favorite articles. For one minute before you get in the shower…just apply a little grout cleaner. It was never my intention to mislead people into thinking that they could accomplish an entire stack of magazine editing or clean up an entire shower full of grout lines in one minute. If I could go back and edit the video to make that point clear - I would! ❤️
Before the hot water and vinegar, pour bicarbonate soda down the drain. It will bubble and remove grime and stalls. Thanks for the tips. I do most but some extra to think about. You have a beautiful home.
I don't have grout on my shower walls and I find them awkward to clean. Especially the crouching down to do the bottom so I keep the spray cleaner and a scrubber in the shower and like do one wall at a time when I have my shower. (Not every time)Then the floor another time or part thereof when I do each wall, then the corners with a tooth brush another time.Might try your mixture for the grout for the awkward corners like round the screws. Thanks for the ideas
🌺➡️➡️➡️ I enjoyed your video. Thanks for the tips. 🏡🏡🏡 Do you know any virtual home organizers that you can recommend? Clarification: I’m referring to a person not a tool.
When I say “was the curtains” I’m not talking about hand washing them with soapy water in a bucket. Maybe I should have clarified. I basically meant to take them off of the curtain rod and throw them in the washing machine! Ha ha! The machine does all the work really! ❤️
I hate to quibble but my real life experience is different, and your judgy-ness about bed-making hits a nerve (yes, I do make my bed, and I do like how it looks!) age 63, moderate joint problems: • make bed: 3 minutes • put away laundry: 5 minutes • sweep entire house? uh, not gonna happen but sweep kitchen, hall and LR: 10 minutes (see yourself crouching? People with knee problems can't do that) • I think my kitchen may be 1/2 your size, and I rent. So the counter is grouted tile which I can't replace, my cabinet space is too small for my equipment, and half my appliances take up 2/3 of its space. 10 minutes minimum. • ok, pushing in chairs takes a minute. • I clean my purse out when I'm waiting in the car • I am outnumbered by the spiders in my yard. 45 minutes • Seriously, you cannot do the 1-minute flower pots thing because you need to put out the plants, manage the potting soil, deal with the tools, etc. • I am 100% with you on cleaning light fixtures. Takes about 5 minutes • omg do you even cook? Stuff splatters! Cabinet faces take 45 minutes • you're right about the dishwasher but it takes me 5 minutes • do not pour boiling water into a porcelain-over-cast-iron sink or tub! It will crack or break the glaze. Learned this the hard way. • better to fold the blankets in LR rather than just stuffing them into the basket, otherwise they look like laundry • candles are nice, make sure they are soy candles without lead wire in the wick • I scrub my shower when I'm showering • I change out my kitchen towels daily, also hand towels in the bathroom You have a lot of great suggestions here, but most of these tasks are NOT 1-minute.
You can quibble as much as you want, I don’t mind! As far as this video goes…I really wish that I would have put a disclaimer at the end saying that everyone works at their own pace and has their own physical limitations. The one minute timer doesn’t need to be a hard and fast rule. The main point of the video is that many of these things ARE very simple and yet we build them up to be something that will take such a long time that it paralyzes us from even starting! So…just do what you can with one minute, 3,5…make progress and be consistent and each of these tasks will get even easier with time! ❤️
I’m sorry you feel that way. In my opinion, the physical work involved in these tasks should take very little time. The prep work may add a bit, and of course everyone does work at their own pace. However, the point of the video is that we tend to build up these chores in our minds thinking they will take longer than they actually do. I wonder if you timed yourself doing them….how long they would actually take? The important thing isn’t a strict time limit- it’s the habit of doing them routinely, making them easier and easier to do. ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage I guess I just took the one minute thing too literally. It is definitely true that in my mind I probably over exaggerate the time involved to complete many chores, so that point is very well taken. I can see the video was well produced and that there was good intention behind it.
What is YOUR favorite one minute task?
I alternate between these 2 tasks in the bathroom between proper cleanings:
1. Before flushing the toilet, grab a square of toilet paper and dust the flat surfaces (top of the tank, toilet seat, behind toilet seat)
2. Buff water spots from the sink's faucet
@@jennyjenkins877 great ideas! And it would be easy to get into the habit of these - since it pairs with something we do often!

@@donnacarraway9182 That's so unfortunate! Every cleaning channel out there recommends that method it seems.
Great idea!!! ❤️
I do the same, we call it the 10 minute action. Only put stuff in the right place no cleaning.
I do the same. 👍
I do not place perishable scraps/leftovers in the kitchen trash. I place them in a plastic-lined container in the door of my freezer, then add them to the trash right before I take it out.
Cuts down on smells I’m sure! ❤️
I do that with especially smelly stuff!
Rinsing out the pet food cans cuts down on odors and bugs.

Where do you live that you don't have weekly compost pickup?
Scan a room every time you leave it… if there is something that does not belong… take it with you and put it away. Second, I don’t collect a lot of “ freebies” any more. Just becomes clutter

Most of the items on your list I already do! I would add, take out the garbage-mail-recycle from your house every day. Don't let it pile up!
Yes! Good ones! ❤️
Noooooo! All those plastic bags going out daily?!? We have a trash compactor, and a family of 5 produces one bag of trash in the kitchen per week. 42 bags a year, and we buy compostable bags. Don’t know how good they really are at breaking down, but I hope it helps…
@@ingridlr2 Some compostable bags are very good at breaking down. All the ones I tried brake down even before they get filled more then half way.
Ah! Great one! I love doing that too! ❤️
Definitely mostly not 1 minute tasks but lots of really great ideas ❤
There are a few that may take slightly longer. When I was thinking of this list I wasn’t really including the prep time that would be needed…like mixing up the grout cleaner for example - the 1 minute was for the actual physical work. ❤️
Many of these are only 'one minute' if you're already set up to do them. Taking out any of the tools to complete these tasks would take up a few minutes before I even begin. To think you could do all of these in 30 minutes ( or 60 ) is a bit misleading. However, I still think it's a great list of quick chores and I enjoyed watching your video.
About half are one-minute tasks, but I still like the list. For example, washing curtains is a project!
My cordless vacume, a Dyson, is my favorite cleaning tool. It makes vacuuming easy and so I am happy to do it. It’s life changing, and so lightweight.
Awesome! This may be a tool that I look into for the future. For now I am content with my broom…but I’ve heard great things about cordless vacuums as well! ❤️
I agree. My Dyson vacuum has made vacuuming a real pleasure. And emptying the Dyson is a simple task that takes 5 seconds.
@@ArrowHillCottage my fav as well!!
My heart rejoices when Tuesday comes and there is a new video from you! Daily routine: Bible study, prayer, Angela, and then the day is on the right path 👏🏻❤
Awe, that’s awesome! So happy to be a small part of your day starting out right! ❤️
I love the folding of laundry…it’s putting away i dislike. 😂
Ha ha! I’ve heard that from a few people now! ❤️
Wish you lived with me! I hang everything except socks and underwear cuz I hate to fold!
Oh Em Goodness! SAME!!!😄
This is my very first time watching your channel, and I am both impressed and embarrassed by the fact that there are 7 people in your home and it is so clean and organized.
Very smart! ❤️
Oh wow, yes I can relate to you. I'm 61 and definitely have slowed down. I can't do every chore in 1 day anymore.
Maybe ... but at that age, you don't have 5 kids aroun the house messing everything up ;)
I guess we could just assume that her one-minute tasks expand to 5 minutes each...
I’ve heard of that before too…and have also heard that it is a myth. I should do some more research! 🧐 ❤️
They don’t need to air out for hours, though.
@@vivian9803 agreed. I just take the Scandinavian approach and wait until my blankets outside are aired out, open my windows and let the air hit the sheets and then make my bed by noon. It’s more extreme but I also have mold sickness so I am extreme about airing out my house.
@@jamiecorisis6122 I suffer from perfectionism, so if I made my bed by noon, I'd need tons of psychotherapy! 😆
@@ArrowHillCottage No ,it´s not a myth. Making a body-warm bed without airing it increases mites in the bed.
I love this! I empty my vacuum cleaner just about every time I'm done using it. I'm fascinated to see how much dust accumulates in the canister even though my rug doesn't look very dirty. So that keeps me motivated to empty it. Try it, and see if that helps. 😊
That’s a good idea! I’ll try it! ❤️
I appreciate how you included things like fresh flowers and rolling your lamp shades! Brushing the toilet and under the seat is quick too. Great tip about the boiled vinegar and water👍
Great idea! The toilets are my least favorite to clean…maybe if I tackled them more often they wouldn’t be! ❤️
I do like doing the laundry :-). All of it, hang it, iron it, fold it. Seriously!
That’s awesome! I feel the same way about making beds!!!
I’ve never heard of the denture tablet hack! Interesting! ❤️
Awesome! Thank you! I hope the drain trick works well for you! ❤️
Very true. Finding a comfortable level of belongings that is easy to keep clean is so important! ❤️
Stay at Home mum or working mum?
Some ideas are great, like pushing in your chairs, however, I'm sure I couldn't take down curtains or wash a window in 1 minute.
Yes, I push in chairs and close cabinets and closets. Something it's like that kitchen scene out of 'Sixth Sense ' around here😊
That's a great list! My favourite 1-minute task is making the bed.
Same! It’s so easy and rewarding! ❤️
Mostly what you have mention i do. But know I'm decluttering without guilt. Thank you for your video
That’s great! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Nothing new for me but great tips that certainly make a big difference. I feel consistency is the key and these tasks just become routine with no drama involved.
Yes! That’s just it. No drama and things don’t feel nearly as overwhelming or difficult when the home has been highly simplified. ❤️
It feels so good to have a chore like that completely DONE…if only for a moment! ❤️
I appreciate your comment. You're a caring mom to keep floors safe for your babies.
Thanks for the tip! ❤️
It may take more than a minute to DO -- but only a minute to DECIDE to do it LOL (Hardest part sometimes!)
Ha ha! True! I know some people probably won’t be able to do them in a minute, but that isn’t the point really. The consistency is the key! ❤️
Love your channel. Its by far the very best. Thank u so much for sharing your ideas, they r such a blessing to me
Awe, thank you so much for your encouragement! ❤️
Great! Glad to hear that has been working well for you! ❤️

Wow!! Your floors are shiny. Floor goals
Ha ha! Thank you! ❤️
Great ideas and suggestions! Most of those things, however, I am not able to do in one minute.
Some tasks can be broken down in one minute segments. Just do one minute when you can and over a few hours or days the task is done.
Ha ha! Yeah…close those for your own safety! ❤️
No. 4: instead of sweeping, I have a robot vacuum. I love it. I just take it to one room and push the button and close the door.
I know a lot of people who really like their robot vacuums! ❤️

You always have the best tips out there. Is there a reason why you prefer a broom over a vacuum?
I think if I had an electric stick vacuum I might go for that. But we have the plug in / bulkier kind - so it’s just easier to grab the broom ❤️

@@ArrowHillCottage Excellent, thank you!

A lot of these take way more than a minute.

Coming from someone that is currently living in a place they don't want to be in, that is such an uplifting comment to read! @@sherabee
Do you have any tips for problem family mess? I mean for when you live with a dropper and forgetter or a peron that throws rubbish literally on the floor or table? Feeling overwelmed here and Im sure there ARE tips but I never see them anywhere.
I’ll have to think about that one - sounds like a great topic for a future video! ❤️
My daughter got her husband used to not setting things on the counter by constantly removing them and taking a while to retrieve them when he wanted them. He soon caught on and stopped using counters as a dumping ground. It was actually rather funny. He respects her desire to have a clean organized home and enjoys those benefits himself.
@@NaneeH63 Thank You ! Hmm Im going to give that a go. He wants it clean but has no interest in actually contributing by just not dropping or dumping.

Good idea! Make that task as easy as you can for yourself! ❤️
Maybe I missed something; sweeping is going to take more than one minute and putting away clothes takes more than 1 minute..
Try sorting the laundry as you fold them hun😂❤❤ clean up floors as you drop something. ❤❤❤❤
This is genius.
The problem is when they yell at you because you throw away something you don't need.
I’m sorry that you are struggling with that ❤️
Honestly, almost none of the tasks on this list can be done in just 1 minute❗️❗️❗️
But I will still try some of them 😉
We all work at our own pace, for sure…but the point of the video is that many of the standard house chores around the home don’t take nearly the amount of time that we build them up in our minds!

I disagree. If your home is clutter free, they all are less than a minute.

TIA
No pdf files - just screenshots of the recap info at the end. I will have to look into the website issue…the links seem to work fine for me ❤️
Great suggestions, but there's no way you could scrub grout lines, or find, clip and catalog magazine articles in a minute... at least I couldn't.
Scrub the grossest part for a minute, then another time, the next grossest part, etc.
I like folding clothes, I DESPISE putting them away LOL
Ha ha! I’m thinking you might be in the minority on that - but I could be wrong! ❤️
Before the hot water and vinegar, pour bicarbonate soda down the drain. It will bubble and remove grime and stalls. Thanks for the tips. I do most but some extra to think about. You have a beautiful home.
Ooh good tip! I sometimes will use baking soda too. Thanks for watching! ❤️
One wall at a time is a great idea! ❤️
Do you work outside of the house?
No I don’t. I work from home now mainly ❤️
never pour boiling water down a drain. These are all awesome (but that one) but none of these take 1 minute....
🌺➡️➡️➡️ I enjoyed your video. Thanks for the tips.
🏡🏡🏡 Do you know any virtual home organizers that you can recommend? Clarification: I’m referring to a person not a tool.
Thank you! I personally don’t know of any virtual home organizers. Sorry! ❤️
You DON'T want to pour boiling water in a porcelain sink 😞 drain. Metal drain will expand and crack the bowl. Learned that first hand.😢
Eeek! I’ve never had an issue, but will definitely heed your advice and be careful! ❤️
Garbage out every evening unless full during the day, then- out asap.
Great one! It takes us a few days to fill up our garbage and so I’m definitely not great about taking it out more often. ❤️
Thanks for the encouragement, but "wash your curtains" is certainly not a one-minute task.
When I say “was the curtains” I’m not talking about hand washing them with soapy water in a bucket. Maybe I should have clarified. I basically meant to take them off of the curtain rod and throw them in the washing machine! Ha ha! The machine does all the work really! ❤️
😊
I hate to quibble but my real life experience is different, and your judgy-ness about bed-making hits a nerve (yes, I do make my bed, and I do like how it looks!)
age 63, moderate joint problems:
• make bed: 3 minutes
• put away laundry: 5 minutes
• sweep entire house? uh, not gonna happen but sweep kitchen, hall and LR: 10 minutes (see yourself crouching? People with knee problems can't do that)
• I think my kitchen may be 1/2 your size, and I rent. So the counter is grouted tile which I can't replace, my cabinet space is too small for my equipment, and half my appliances take up 2/3 of its space. 10 minutes minimum.
• ok, pushing in chairs takes a minute.
• I clean my purse out when I'm waiting in the car
• I am outnumbered by the spiders in my yard. 45 minutes
• Seriously, you cannot do the 1-minute flower pots thing because you need to put out the plants, manage the potting soil, deal with the tools, etc.
• I am 100% with you on cleaning light fixtures. Takes about 5 minutes
• omg do you even cook? Stuff splatters! Cabinet faces take 45 minutes
• you're right about the dishwasher but it takes me 5 minutes
• do not pour boiling water into a porcelain-over-cast-iron sink or tub! It will crack or break the glaze. Learned this the hard way.
• better to fold the blankets in LR rather than just stuffing them into the basket, otherwise they look like laundry
• candles are nice, make sure they are soy candles without lead wire in the wick
• I scrub my shower when I'm showering
• I change out my kitchen towels daily, also hand towels in the bathroom
You have a lot of great suggestions here, but most of these tasks are NOT 1-minute.
Very few of these are one minute tasks! Therefore I feel the title was misleading.
Thank you! ❤️
