Would you ever consider doing a video about the very basics of a shop, like how to do inventory, ordering prints, calculating shipping etc? And tbh as long as sponsorships are ethical and don’t take up like half the video, I really don’t mind them
Girl- every time I see you promoting something I'm just thinking " Damn, good for her, making that $$$!!" I understand only promoting what you believe in (I'm the same way lol), but know most of us don't mind the ads. We're just happy you're doing well :)
I agree! I don’t mind watching even if it’s something I’m not particularly interested in or think seems too good to be true/ scripted (TikTok shop etc). We all have the ability to use our common sense and not just jump on something someone is saying is great. But I’m happy they’re doing well enough to have been offered the sponsorship 🎉
I love love love watching this (and all of your videos). It's so refreshing to see someone be so transparent. And I can't tell you how many times a month I quit my art business, close up my shop... then take a nap, dust myself off, and start all over again. Lol. Thank you for sharing!!!
My personal take on people accepting sponsorships is I would prefer to have I trust, follow, and learn from to recommend something and be able to continue to support them vs youtube forcing random ads that don’t apply.
Just realized that its a new video lol, Thank you for your videos Julianne, im currently working on creating my shop. And its so motivating to see other success tbh (for the moment sharing my art every day here and on Instagram if anyone is interested hehe)
@@JulianneDoodles Thank you , thats so scary in the beginning like you dont know how it will work out and you are like not sure what to do and what to not do. I'm so glad I found your channel (this vid was recommended, nice TH-cam)! I've been running my biz for 8 years now and a lot of these tips are great advice. Going to go binge watch all your videos now. 👀
You are such an inspiration! Thank you for being so transparent about all this stuff, your outlook is such a breath of fresh air in the social media art world and it really shows how much you genuinely care about your art/your orders. 💖
Love the questions people are asking, and your answers are very realistic and insightful! It’s nice to hear as someone who isn’t a fan of putting myself out there on social media that we don’t need to connect our business to ourselves to make it work. What steps do you take to keep PepperCut and yourself separate so the business stands on its own?
I promote them separately! I essentially don’t promote myself as juliannedoodles at all outside of this TH-cam channel. All my business cards are PepperCut and the posts I make for PepperCut don’t have me in them haha a bunch of people that follow PepperCut have no idea who julianne doodles is and I prefer to keep it that way 😂😂
I absolutely love your videos. And thank you for being so open and honest. I also do studio vlogs and I haven’t noticed much increase in sales but my channel is small. I also still love instagram. Can’t wait for my order. 🥰💕💕
Just received my very first order with you. Everything came in perfect. I was worried at first about the 2 large prints but they were perfect. I cant wait to find frames for them. I've already had a few people at my gym say they loved the stickers on my bottle(the "I'm Toast specifically). I can't wait to see what the future brings. I do hope you expand your product line. But whatever you're comfortable with.
If you want to teach people, why not just stream when you draw? You don't have to teach but it would inspire people to draw along. I love the drawing portions of your videos and would love to see them live. Also if you want coloring book ideas, why not center it around your characters? Then they can include food, flowers, and anything in between. I'd love to see that too!
Great idea! But I’m not so much looking to teach how to draw but more so how to run and start an art business :) I’ll try to add more drawing into my videos tho 😉
I super enjoyed watching this video while drinking my smoothie. I loved all the talking and the chattiness, the ASMR of the tissue paper sounds and the unsticking the sticker in the end, and most of all your transparency on your business. Thank you for sharing numbers and realistic expectations.
The cricut explorer 3 is $299 just bought one. The maker is $399. Before tax here in California.. Thank you baby girl for sharing your knowledge and being honest and reliable. 💋
About the coloring book, there are tons of possibilities: 4 seasons (it’s an easy way to include plants, food and animals for every season), countries and you can again include all that items you like that are original from an specific place, food, well mix animals and food is a common image in the kawaii world, inspiring quotes give you a lot of situations and objects, plants or animals to draw, etc
I launched my shop on July 17th and am currently waiting for my first sale QwQ I share on Instagram mainly, and I haven’t gotten many followers. I’m struggling a lot, trying to stay afloat with the posting every day, trying to edit TH-cam videos, film them, all that, but what sucks most is that I am not getting any sales, so any expense I make is a loss for the business. I need to show myself making the products, but making too many products without selling said products is a huge loss… Also, yeah, don’t use Legal Zoom. They had me pay 99$+taxes for a “Licenses and Permits” thing that I expected to be the filing of all licenses I need, but ended up realizing that all I paid for was a report that I could have done by myself, and they had the audacity to say “we disclosed that you were paying for the report!” … 😑 don’t use these big nasty companies, most times you are likely to only need a DBA and a sales permit (like I supposedly did)
What sticker paper do you use? I have a hard time getting my cricut to cut correctly because of my glossy sticker paper. But it prints out super great on the glossy. Help 😆
Lmao no lie xD I paused the video at 35.30, to get my coffee ☕ and I took a sip and unpause the video and she automatically said okay did you pause, unpause? You got a snack I started looking around like what!? XD perfect timing I loved it lol 😂❤️
I have too much health issues to work, so I want to make a little money of my artshop. Its going super slowly, but I do love it when people are interested in my art. I'm very sad to hear you didn't get into the artist alley at Dokomi... Guess I'll have to wait another year (patiantly) for next year! I am so looking forward to it tho! And omg you are watching twilight in the meantime! I still love those movies and books so much! Even after 15years XD I am really looking up at you as an artist, and as a person. I'm a huge fan. How would I help draw attention to my booth if I'm disabled and have to sit %90 of the time? I feel bad for sitting but my body just doesn't handle standing well.
Standing is just one option, plenty of artists sit the entire time and make lots of money! I’d say focus more on making your display eye catching :) this doesn’t always mean adding more things onto it or spending a ton of money, but consider what ur best sellers are and find ways to draw attention to it (displaying it at eye level, if it’s a print blow it up into a poster etc)
Thank you so much for this! You are amazing for sharing so much with us 😊 also I have that same exact purple comfy you were wearing in the beginning of the video 😂
Enjoyed the entire video! Okay but what got me is you going to Dokomi this year!! Top bad I'm not going ;(. I live about 2.5 hours away. Applied to it first as my first time as an artist and obviously was rejected lol. But im gonna definitely try again next year!
Hi Julianne! I hope Naka Kon in KC went well, I'm so bummed that I missed you being in Kansas City! If you can get into Planet Comic Con for next year's show in March, that would be so awesome! Planet is a great convention!!
I really enjoy watching your videos and how straightforward you are! It really motivates me to push myself to start, because I get so distracted by work and family. So I always end up telling myself, "oh I can do that later." But my drive then is dead. It’s definitely hard to squeeze time in when I’m working 12-14 hours a day (m-f) but I’m doing little by little while watching your videos. ❤️
Thank you for doing this video and answering all these questions. I am a small business artist working full time plus at two different day jobs. I find myself struggling and being very discouraged, and it is very comforting to know that someone I perceive as so successful has gone through some of the same struggles.
This was super motivating for me! About the sponsored ads you mentioned, I personally wouldn’t be offended if you did them more often. I only get annoyed with sponsored ads if the content creator is generally disrespectful towards their following or if they have a superficial personality. You seem super genuine and you give us tons of free info, so I don’t mind watching something for your benefit
