Honestly as someone who lived in Chicago until relatively recently, we used to do the architecture tours at least once a year even as residents. There are several variations of them, and ultimately it's a chill way to spend an afternoon. You feel like you're out and about doing something, but you can also just hang out on the boat, have some beverages, and relax. I'm so glad that you came back and we redeemed ourselves! Hopefully we'll see you back again soon.
As a fellow luggage collector, you cannot have too many packing cubes. Especially the ones that double zip so it flattens the contents down to save space. I got a major upgrade in travel backpacks too where the one I have now is like the go-to for people who travel Spirit or other carryon charged airlines. It fits an entire weeks worth of clothing plus electronics and still fits under the seat. It's been a lifesaver!

Glad that you gave Chicago a second chance! The best part about c2e2 is that it's located downtown so it's easy access to Chinatown for good food and other nice restaurants! Glad that it proved a better con than previously

I was just going to ask you about pre-con packing prep and you answered it for me. Suitcases are a great idea! I want to do some art/craft fairs but I no long have an assistant to help me (my hubby passed away in '21), I'm by myself and I have just backed away from doing any because of my lack of help. So thank you!! :)

It was so nice to see you at C2E2! My friends and I vistied you every day and you were the best deal on stickers out of everyone there. It was the first time meeting you and I am so happy we did. You should check out Indiana's convention's (because that were we are from lol) Indy pop con and comic con are tottally popular and artist do really well there too. I still need to get that Kirby poster from you lol. Hopefully we meet again!

I love your videos! They're so informative. If i can manage to actually make designs and do more i'd totally start my own little side business. Question if you wouldn't mind. You have to still put away 30% of that for self employment taxes and then what about expensing business costs of the flight/hotel/table? Would you be able to give a ball park answer of how much your net is? Or is that already calculated into that final 7k?
I can only ever dream of hitting 5 figures over a convention. Most I've made was $2k. Though, I have been adjusting my prices on my comics that I sell and adding more variety.
That’s so cool! Where do you sign up for art booths and such? I’ve been having a hard time signing up because they’re all currently “going on” but I know I have to be early now to even get in for next year for some conventions 😔
Are these fan art conventions profitable for artist who do original artwork? I come up with my own characters and have my first local market coming up but would like to go to one of these big conventions one day
From my experience you can make it work. It may not be as profitable and it will most likely be a harder sell (the reason fanart does so well is bc everyone already knows and loves the characters) but if you’re ok with that, or, you already have a larger following, you can still get money. A mix of both fanart and OC stuff tends to work out best if you want to sell OC but there’s always a bunch of tables with purely their own stuff too.
