Leo is too good. I think Mario vs. Marth is a really tough matchup for Mario, he's just too stubby to contest the range of Marth's Falchion. Good shit to Ally too, but this kid Leo is on a tear right now

-He didn't try to camp him out and it was still even or in Mr R's favor both games.
-He dropped shield on dancing blade (Just hold shield for a second dude, free punish)
I think Ally should have just walked forward in shield the whole time. 1 grab=80-100%. Then Usmash a Marth short hop or punish a roll.
Ally doesn't abuse Marth's weaknesses as a character, and actually plays in a way that maximizes Marth's strengths.
Same thing to Mr R. He isn't playing to abuse Marth's weaknesses either. Just my opinion :/
Why do they keep approaching Leo anyway? Mario and Leo could simply never approach, and they would probably do way better, since Marth's approach game is not too great.
I definitely think Leo is beatable, I mean the kid isn't invincible. To be fair, Marth is still new most opponents at this level, so most people are still adjusting to fighting him. Mr. R and Ally have some shaky moments. But no one plays perfectly.
Yeah sure. If they didnt under-performed they would have surely won. However, it is also true that Leo under-performed as well, thats why thosets wre so close, otherwise Leo would have 3-0'd them with 2 stocks in every game. But that didnt happen, we have to stick to what happened, and the reality is that Leo won clean and it was fair and square.
You are totally right. Nobody is invincible. And people still have a lot of work to do to adjust. But you forgot something. Have in mind that Leo will adjust as well, he is going to get MUCH better than this, this is not even close to his best performance, he is still getting confidence and learning to get out of difficult situations in competition. He is still fixing mistakes with his Marth, it is far from perfect and Im sure Leo will try to get Marth as close to perfection as possible. He also have multiple top level characters which makes him incredibly hard to beat. I think He will totally win more super majors and become as much of a god as ZeRo.

League of Legends, Overwatch, Starcraft. Don't follow SFV but I know a Korean guy won EVO, and last I heard they were starting to invade DOTA 2 now.
Fighting games are the only esport that Koreans don't touch for some reason. Although I was mainly focused on the most popular esports. Going by ESPN's top 10 esports draft, the only games Korea doesn't have a presence in is Call of Duty and Smash Bros.

Leo is currently the best. He took 2 super-majors in a row (and all of his other performances are also impressive). And 2 times in a row is NEVER a fluke. ZeRo can easily reclaim that tittle though, he just needs to win the next super-major and he will definetely take that away from Leo. Meanwhile, I will say that the champ is actually the best.

eros v a Good Player can Push a Good Character to its full Potential. Doesn't matter how good you are, I can't see Shulk winning a Major due to his frame data. Marth feels just like a top tier. MK Leo is really good and showing you what Marth can really do.

A Marth winning a SSB4 tournament? That's what I'm talking about. I'm glad that people are taking characters that are considered mid-tier and showing how good they can be and it's not just another Cloud or Rosalina player that won. Marth is considered a C tier, but MKLeo showed that he can get results when played well.

Now i want a Ness, a Megaman or a Duck Hunt to win a major and tier list will finally be proven insignifiant
All of these characters would have to be played absolutely perfectly to win a big tournament because of their inherent weaknesses against the top tier match ups. It would come down to overwhelming skill on part of the player to use them since they have significant drawbacks to their viability. Any character could win, but the top characters are easier and more reliable for professional players to get results. Tier list are pointless at lower levels because basics like stage position and edge guarding are more important than frame data and advanced tech skill. What MKLeo did with Marth is awesome because he does suffer from not having great approach options and lower speed compared to other top tiers.
When has a Cloud or Rosalina won a major? Anti only used him as a counter-pick and Dabuz hasn't won a stacked tournament.
MKLeo also used Cloud to win the tournament, he used him before reaching Top 8, of course, Marth still has part of the credit.
Was cheering for Ally but amazing set regardless, congrats to Leo :D

Yep, I saw it too. I almost wish mods were instructed/allowed to timeout the kids who spam that crap. It's just plain rude and, frankly, toxic behavior.
It's like when you're at a concert and the band is playing one of your favorite tunes by them, and you're really digging it, but consistently there's that small crowd of people in the audience who won't shut up about demanding that they play their number one hit instead. Just like in that scenario, these Melee fanboys should be kicked out honestly, at least from engaging in the chat and ruining everyone else's fun.

I've said from the beginning Marth is top 5 material. In a game where defense and pressure are essential to doing well, Marth does both best, and Leo just keeps on proving this.
I find it hilarious how Dabuz is the only one that got no noticeable applause.

I remember when I went to my first smash 4 tourney maiming marth and this guy who was ranked 2nd in my local pr asked me "why marth?" I thought that Marth just had the x-factor of early kills which are sometimes hard to come by, along with strong range while still having fast options and decent movement. Feels rly cool to see a marth having such good results. Also that's the most casual super major win I've ever seen. Then again the last match wasn't too close and he won from winners.

I think Ally should pick up a secondary character for situations like these, especially against spacing characters like Marth and Lucina because Mario really struggles at approaching them and Mario's only real spacing tool is fire ball and back air

It looks like marth's biggest problem is getting back on stage. I know next to nothing about playing him but it doesn't look like he has a lot of landing options outside of nair. On top of that Ally got a grab out of pretty much everything Leo did on the ledge.

People need to give things more time before they start giving the title of "gods" to smash 4 players. Leo is very good, not taking anything away from him. However just because he’s won the last 3 majors or so doesn't deserve him the title of smash god, mango and m2k dominated for years and it wasn’t until years later when they CONSISTEITLY won events year after year after year that the nomenclature of the 5 gods was given to them, if Leo continues to win majors in 2017 and then into 2018, then we'll talk. Until then he's just a top player

I feel like top tier and high tier should be bigger. People say Marth is not top 5 or top 10 and isn't top tier but I believe this game can have more top tiers. Every character has bad match ups so it is possible to give some characters the rep it deserves. Mario and Marth might not be top 10 in some people's eyes but it's hard to tell me that they are not top tier after looking at how these people utilize their characters so well for all match ups and stages.

The floaty jumps have been always there with Marth, and I believe he uses Bidou to do constant pivots and Dashs
Leo doesn't use bidou. As a bidou Marth player, I can assure you he uses tilt stick. He'd be much heavier on the perfect pivots if he opted for bidou.
Yeah didn't think so either. But his pivots are damn smooth and deliberate.
