Chunky is a true DK main at heart. He knew his best chance was with ROB, but still wanted to win the actual set with DK even if it meant knocking him out of the tourney. Mad respect.
yeah this made me respect him a lot, because the rob was way better against Lucas. but just like Peanut, he really sticks to his guns
He's a competitive player, he made the wrong move. He should have stuck with Rob, advanced and then Donkey Kong would live to fight another day. Now he's out of the chance to make money and get a higher placing.

Chunky absolutely could have taken top 16. This was such an insanely good showing of how far DK can be pushed with enough effort. 17th with mostly DK is tremendously huge! I know Chunky was pretty burnt out

He beat Choco too at Flynns in GFs 6-0 before wish he won here but he had a fantastic run

Keep an eye on Nitox, the French Lucas. Regalo and Nitox are definitely currently the two strongest lucai, but Nitox is way more technical than regalo.

Holy hell what a hype set. Regalo using the up-b I frames in that second game was soooo slick.
SPOILERS: Chunky was on the verge of a reverse 3-0 with the ROB.. wonder why he switched back to DK. No shame in sticking it out with the secondary that was far better suited for the MU... oh well, both players had great showings here. This match was a BLAST to watch :)
Chunky stans are out here making it seem like the W was free if he stayed Rob. Look at the difference between game 3 and game 4. Regalo was holding a comfortable lead for a while in game 4. You also don't get this far in a super major without knowing the Rob match-up, both players knew this.
It’s like the previous post said. CK used R.O.B. to send a message *he could have beaten Regalo if he wanted to* . Instead, CK went back to his main, that his user name entitled, and played for fun. Regalo playing to winning money, CK playing for fun.
Awesome stuff from both players. Gotta give mad credit to Regalo especially for pushing the lucas meta 🙌🏻

Huge props to Regalo! It doesn’t matter who the character is, because Chunky is a huge obstacle in bracket for ANYONE. He deserved that win because he played with great awareness!
Holy shit. The tomahawk at 16:06. His chains with R.O.B. are insane, too.
Ness is a wholly different type of character: slow moving, hitbox focused, high frame data with low range outside of projectiles, mostly boxing
VS
Lucas: high air speed, mobility focused generalist focusing on mid-range and edgeguarding
Lucas is less common and in a lower tier because he has a terrible disadvantage state and lacks 'get off me' tools including out-of-shield options. Incidentally DK's problem is having an even worse disadvantage state and for being combo food.
Yep. People just don’t understand Lucas is used differently compared to Ness. Ness is like a smash character while Lucas is not.

° Great combo game and offensive toolset
°Amazing defensive tools
°Great to Amazing out of shield options
°Amazing recovery
°Nasty Edgeguarding
° Good reversals offstage
°Possibly best Zair that thing is the epitome of VERSATILITY
°Kill throws
°Small hurt box but decent weight for his size
°Very safe pressure

Lucas 's great pressure game is supposed to lead to his even better keep away and cheese game. But for some reason, most of Lucas players play ultra aggro or ultra passive both of which are suboptimal
Lucas has a high skill ceiling as hes one of those kind of characters where ya not only have to use all of his tools, but ya also have to have a great understanding of the game of Ultimate in order to max his potential
Regalo is playing Lucas way below his skill level. If he learned to zone just a bit, he'd instantly be a Demi-God level player as he is incredible at understanding the nuances of the game of Ultimate. I both love and hate watching him play cause this dude could be top 30 caliber if he tweaked his game a bit
@James Nnabuihe No offense, as ( I take this stance with most fighting games) but if you're not an elite tourney level player, then your opinion means nothing. If you cant even get the most out of your character, how can you eve give an educated opinion?
Especially in the smash community since 99% of yall have never competed at high levels in any other fighter. Smash Ultimate is more like a traditional fighter than any other smash game so yall have no idea how to judge anything in this game
Pokemon and Traditional Fighters: a dude whose been playing sports since 4, those are the only two eSports communities with similar competitive mind to actual sports. Analyzing your opponent takes a certain "thing". Smashers just dont have that thing so yall just be saying the wrongest of stuff

The commentary for this game is always exhausting! Both commentators always opt for the same role: the out-of-breath play-by-play. The cadence is always the same. It's like the only thing we do.

I'm like halfway through the video and I gotta say that ChunkyKongs SDI is pretty insane. Just watched when he got jab locked and it could've been a kill with D smash if he didn't SDI away. That's also not to mention the way he's been doing it while getting nair'd by Lucas as 2 of the larger characters in the game

@VGBC, chunky took sets off of Goblin, and Wadi, is it possible these could also be uploaded? At the end of the day it’s your channel are free to do with it as you like, but it’s a tad unfair that the only set uploaded of chunky was of him losing, and not the sets of him upsetting two PGR players. Not sure if they were streamed or not though, if they were, please consider uploading.

That Lucias in game 4 was fighting Rob the way you would play against DK.
Also besides the emotional damage threat, WHY switch back to DK last game when you won two with Rob. I never understand when people do that.
Probably because his ROB is more one-dimensional and he felt Regalo had the download, so he tried to shake things up again.

Chunky is a clinician on DK play, just sucks he got paired with a Lucas. The MU is buns 😞

Oof, seems to me like Chunky should have abused Super Armor on grounded UpB and SideB a bit more to tank those grounded pokes and punish more. Lucas gets in with a lot of weak hits for his combos. Perhaps Chunky knows something about the matchup more though, and he had a reason to not do that.

I don’t believe in the tier list. Lucas is used a little bit differently than Ness and should be teamed up with Ness. Ness is about smashes while Lucas is about aerial attacks.
