It never ceases to amaze me that you can make an entire track so quickly and it sounds better than 90% of the stuff I hear in synthwave playlists. Just a total command of your craft. Love your stuff!
Your videos are so informative and useful! Thanks for always saying the key command shortcuts for what you are doing, it has helped me learn a lot of them. I'm new to Ableton and your videos have taught me so much already.
Really beautiful and nostalgic as I like it! I've been watching your videos for a few days, but after this I felt like I had to subscribe to the channel!!!
When you added that closed hi hat to the drums I was instantly hearing so many of the songs I loved so much back in the late 70s. I'd call that a definite "win" on hitting the nostalgia mark. I appreciate how you include the process of turning the initial loop material into a fuller arrangement, as that's a big sticking point for me. I'll get something I like and then get stuck at wondering, "now what?" Demonstrating that process really helps a lot. Thanks!
Just wanted to take a moment in the spirit of the season and say THANK YOU! I started making music this year and your videos were some of the most helpful to me when I was first getting started. 💜 Keep being awesome 🎉
@ you know I am from India and write compose my own songs, I was planning to create some fusion with synthwave and hindi lyrics, will do that now for sure, your videos really inspired me 😊
I've never seen Ableton used this way - I'm stunned and feel stupid that I only thought it was used for "live" stuff / looping and not for composing / building synths from scratch. Ace, brilliant, and kept creatively easy on the mind. Thank you for sharing
@@khartbeats Yeah I have a friend that asked what DAW I used and when I said Ableton Live he said I don't like it and that he tried it once and didn't like that each piece of music was a scene. I said I don't use session view, only arrangement view and showed him that arrangement view was pretty much the same as most other DAWs.
great video, subscribed. hope i can do what ur doing one day. i wanna make nostalgic music like this, and its so cool that youre also teaching alongside it. i wanna make my mark like that too
@@khartbeats thank you! ur doing a very noble thing. im only just starting out, so much to learn, wish id found it before 28 but its never 2 late. cheers :)
I'm new to your channel, love the simplistic apporach. So thought let's give it a try and downloaded the .als. Without paying to be honest, just to see if it was something I could use. But now it seems some samples (drums) are missing, these I replaced with other 707-808 stock samples and also 'duck'-plugin (replace with shaper?) and the fx. Is that fixable?
Appreciate you checking out my channel. Not sure why the drum samples didn’t show up, but yes they’re just from the 707 stock ableton kit. Duck can be replaced with something like shaper easily or even just sidechain compressor.
Good to get the holiday sickness out of the way early. Thanks for the educational videos as usual, and i hope this channel grows up to be a big girl. To answer a request: I'm a big fan of Mitch Murder, and a couple of his recent releases had some cool chopped up vocals well added into his synth jams; can you consider it? The two releases i am referring to are: "Savanna" and "Product Line." Thanks again!
Yep, being sick before the holiday is better than during! Hadn’t heard of Mitch Murder before, but I listened to some of his stuff and it’s really cool. Thanks for the suggestion!
Incredible video! thanks for taking the time and sharing your skills and knowledge! What is that duck plugin? in future videos please go more into your processing and mixing as you do your tutorial! Thanks again for this tutorial
great video thanks. for some reason cannot follow the drum part of the tutorial (different interface comes up in default ableton live 12) and opening your file the drum sounds are missing
Thank you! The drums I usually load the individual samples onto MIDI tracks. For this one you can grab Ableton’s 707 kit…that’s what I used. You can separate out the chains if you load the entire kit and create individual tracks for the drums that way, too.
This is so good but I think it’s definitely more into the real of chillwave/chillsynth than synthwave, so very similar to artists like forhill, hotel pools, Krosia, oddling and of course, Home.
@ actually it’s the key lines, for some reason the piano keys on the left don’t line up with the line markings in the piano roll. It’s hard to explain but it looks very odd, see at timestamp 3:28? The dark lines in the piano roll don’t align with the black keys?
Here's some "real" instruments...I usually sketch out ideas by playing but input in piano roll for my tutorials as it's easier to explain what I'm doing. th-cam.com/users/shortswonz9Y_UXtQ
Great work. It's sad that you have to explain what an inversion is to people that want to make music though, sleeping on theory never did anyone any good.
@@khartbeats Even though I'm familiar with inversions, I think it's helpful to include things like that. It doesn't take much time to include, and everyone has to learn somehow. It was a throw-in explanation of some concept like this (modes I think) which gave me the push to look into theory, and without that being included in a video, I never would have known to look into it

Caught your Safari Pedals interview, what a cool find. Feel better soon!
Feeling better! Thank you! 😊
@ great! And np! 🙂
Your creations are beautiful and the process interesting to watch, thank you pretty lady!
Thanks so much!
It’s never enough of synthwave! Thanks a lot! ❤
Awesome! You have a very refreshing personality compared to so many aggressive fast past tutorials!! So incredibly talented!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that 🙂
Glad to see your back, always enjoy how easy you make the tutorials. Keep being awesome!
Thank you! 😊
I always take away something from your videos. They’re educational with great tracks-keep them coming!
Thanks so much! More on the way 😁
A jack of all trades AND seemingly a master of all. Hugely impressive channel. Big fan. Love this track so much.
Definitely not a master of all, but that’s kind of you to say. Thank you 🙂
Very cool! Love how this one sounds. Always appreciate a deep dive into the sound design
Thanks! I try to fit most of the “important” sound design stuff I’m doing in there 🙂
Just got back from being out of town, and found this great tutorial. Awesome as always. Very helpful, especially the sound design elements.
Thank you! Hope you had a nice trip! 😊

Nice work. It's quite motivating 👌🏽 (that timing-issue in the Arp at 22:44 😇)
Thanks! Didn’t notice anything at 22:44 but 🤷♀️🙂

Hi, K.! Thanks for this lesson. The track turned out great. I’ll keep learning synthwave and look forward to more lessons from you in this genre.
Thanks so much! 🙂
Always happy to see another upload from you! Looking forward to this one (though hoping we get the New Jazz one at some point also!)

Fair comparisons...I took a lot of inspiration from Hotel Pools and A.L.I.S.O.N. for this one. Thanks :)
where do you turn on the option that makes it play the sound when you click in a note? Mine doesn't do that and I would really like it sometimes.
There's a little headphone icon near the top left of the piano roll. That turns that option on and off.
@@khartbeats AH! Thank you

Do future rave😮💨
Anyone else confused by the mismatched piano roll? Why doesn’t it line up?
I’m guessing you mean at about 16:25? It’s because one clip was 8 bars long and the other was only 4 when I clicked to see both together.

Where are the tom fills! I need the tom fills! Without them it's like watching Blade Runner without the rain
I’ll make sure the next one brings the rain 😎
Cool vid.
But can you PLAY?
Would love to see your skills on the keys!
