Great ambient tutorial... and best of all, you weren't pushing a new product to use for the track. Thanks for this video! Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t like to push products I don't use myself :)
@@khartbeats There are some reasonably good TH-cam music channels that I tend to shy away from because they tend to push something new a couple of times a month. I get tired of this on channels, so seeing your use of the new features in Ableton, without pushing any product, is refreshing. I use Logic and am happy with it, just applying the principles and that's more than enough. Cheers!
You are great. Thank you.
This is so beautiful, thank u!!!!
Thanks so much!
Dope stuff. Great tutorial
Thanks!
For some reason, I understand women better than any man who teaches directions. After 3 videos by men, I still don't know what I'm actually doing. They don't tell you exactly what something does while this lady did. thankfully she explains what an envelope actually does or what resampling is. To properly understand and know what these things do is crucial for me to understand and recreate them, if necessary with another synth, if I make sense. Good work lady, I just made my first Kick. Good quick and straightforward tutorial.
Thank you! I appreciate you sharing that!
Nice tutorial but most plug ins arent free so its difficult to follow along ;(
Check some of my newer tutorials like this one…all Ableton stock stuff for that reason :) th-cam.com/video/fgjGT0btni4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dzt2pyuDsdhqqfzP
The vocal trick was REALLY eye opening! I need to experiment with this on my next ambient track...
Glad you enjoyed it! Have fun trying it out 🙂
Your channel is 🔥
Thank you!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks very much for this - I upgraded to suite and was able to follow along - the techniques you show are very helpful!
Awesome! Glad you found it helpful…thank you 😊
what bass sound are you using?
Pretty sure it's the bass swing guitar from Native Instruments' Sway add on.
great video thanks. for some reason cannot follow the drum part of the tutorial (different interface comes up in default ableton live 12) and opening your file the drum sounds are missing
Thank you! The drums I usually load the individual samples onto MIDI tracks. For this one you can grab Ableton’s 707 kit…that’s what I used. You can separate out the chains if you load the entire kit and create individual tracks for the drums that way, too.
Been doing sound design for a few months, appreciate the video! 🤌
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Hi K. Its awesome. Many thanks! What effect is on the voice sample?
Thank you! It has some EQ, reverb and the auto pan set to 100% to create the stutter effect.
How do you use Native Instruments plugins, without using a native instrument keyboard?
You can still use the plugins…the keyboard is just linked to them so you can browse presets and stuff without having to do it in the DAW. I picked the Novation for better Ableton integration.
@ Cool, can I use any other keyboards besides a komplete Kontrol keyboard, like Push 3 or Launchkey 37
You DID that🔥🔥🔥👊🏾💯
Appreciate it 🙂
Super informative!
Thank you!
brilliant, thank you
Good f job!! Sick beat
Spledid! Thanks!
FIRE K. How about a collab on a song?
realmente hermoso!
Thank you!
Fantastic tutorial! Your method is great for the ambient vocals. I'm new to your content and definitely not as experienced in audio production and sound design, so I wouldn't be surprised if you were aware already, but PaulXStretch is an amazing plugin with lots of granular control for making long pads from any source (a vocal, a synth, what have you). I'm 99% sure it's free, too, or very inexpensive.
Fantastic video, gorgeous music! Very inspirational, thanks for sharing :).
Really appreciate that, thank you 😊
Kind of interstellar vibe keeping that e note in that progression. Love that 🎉
Thank you 😊
I love this tuto. I want to make ambient music like you and you have helped and inspired me so much. Thank you so much! And your end song is so relaxing and meditative.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! I hope it gave you some inspiration to start your own 🙂
ctrl+j consolidate means you merge the clips together into a big single clip?
Yes. You can do it for MIDI or audio. For audio it will bake in any changes like fades or pitch changes and stuff like that.
@khartbeats great thanks, self taught Ableton user and I wasn't aware of that!
This was fun. Sounds so dope, thank you!
Thanks so much!
Hi K. just watched this video again and noticed that you have an Ozon plugin on the main vocals group after the utility, would you mind telling us which one it is and what for ? many thanks in advance
It’s the Ozone Imager. Should be free. I use it to check the width of the audio to make sure it won’t completely disappear in mono.
@@khartbeats thanks so much
Inspirational! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Just found your page the first time. What is the control surface/pad hardware you are using? Having a hard time identifying it.
I’m using Ableton Push 3 in this one. I switch between that and a Novation SL keyboard for MIDI.
Cool track! Cool t-shirt! Cool channel! Subscribed!
Cool, thanks! 😊 appreciate it!
Outrageously underrated channel.
Wish u a happy new year and thanks for this video <3
Thank you! Happy new year 😊
quick question didnt know who to ask, do you happen to know a better way to change drum samples feeding simpler/sampler by midi knob other than creating an instrument rack and scroll through the chains
I don't know of a way to do it...maybe you could map a MIDI controller knob? I haven't tried it for that specific use.
@@khartbeats whaat about the level peak indicator on the mixer view where it shows the highest peak for 20 seconds eaven tho im lowering volume on the channel the peak resets werry late and its disturbing me while mixing it should be like 2 seconds instead of 20 untill it falls off, you know the peak on the vu meters of channels its a small dash where the loudest part hit, it sticks and does not reset for a long time i would want it shorter time
@@khartbeats yea thats what im trying i just made a mad drum machine with 127 insances of simpler per knob and my ableton is like "what?"
i know i can make them turn off but its tedious work and i feel simpler does on its own if its not active but i can see them in cpu when turning a knob like decay becouse its mapped to them all
nevermind i found how to put multiple samples with selector into one simpler instead of puting hundret simplers with one sample and selecting betwen them xD
Awesome result and inspiring tutorial - thanks for taking the time to share your process and techniques. :)
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it 😊
Truly wonderful piece of art Thank u
Thanks so much 🙂
Again learning something new that I want to apply !!! Thank you for being such an inspiration!
Thank you so much !!!! you're wonderful ! Every single time I watch one of your videos I learn something ! Thank you thank you and thank you.
That’s awesome! I try to sprinkle new tips in every video. I’m happy you’re enjoying them! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks a lot for the video, it helped me much. I'm really trying to understand ableton from scratch. Can you explain theoretically what happens to the soundwave, when we switch between the envelopes in the beginning? I understand that we're pitching the second wave envelope in the matrix to get a snap to start with. But did we create 2 envelopes to kind of layer 2 waves or why did we create two of them?
So the first envelope is the amp envelope…it controls the ADSR (attack, sustain, decay and release). The second envelope I created I used only to modulate the pitch. That’s why I mapped envelope 2 to that in the matrix so it would create that quick pitch drop to mimic a kick.
Glad you're back. Nice soothing lessons, great music. Much love
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much for this! I love your Mario Tee! #supermariofan 😁
Thank you! Definitely one of my favorite shirts 😆
thank you so much haliey welch
Great Video - thank you
Thanks for watching 😊
The concept of “Implied Chords” you mentioned has been super helpful to me ever since I learned about it a while ago, and I love seeing it applied in this video. I think of it kind of like an orchestral composer who spreads the chord voices across different instruments in an orchestra. Something similar happens here - we can split a chord across two different pads to create a more separated and richer texture, compared to playing the whole chord on just one pad, which can sometimes lead to clashing voices or awkward resonances. Another concept I’d recommend keeping in mind is Voice Leading. It’s about avoiding big, abrupt jumps between chords and finding voicings or inversions that make the transitions between chords smoother. Great tutorial
Always happy when someone else appreciates the music theory stuff. And I totally agree that voice leading is also a great tool to use. Thanks so much!
@khartbeats Thank you for the tutorial. I sent you a DM on Instagram asking a question about the track produced in this video :)
