      well he brought both teams titles and should of repeated with the cavs if not for injuries and threepeated in miami if not for the worst game of his career at the worst time ...2 wins away ...lebron should have 5 rings by now..

      Asmosis Jones why not the other way around? He is lucky he won 3 titles but those 2 titles he have could go the other way around. He could have been 1-8 in the finals.

    As a Heat fan I almost couldn't believe it was happening. I was hopeful Wade was staying and I was sure that Wade would stay if Miami could sign another big player. Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew Miami had space for a 3rd max free agent, but it wasn't until Wade and Bosh signed together, which already had me super thrilled, that I thought it was possible. The thing with Wade was I was super worried he was going to Chicago. I knew he wanted to play there. And it worked out. People try and say the big 3 was a failure, but four finals and two titles in four years is not a failure.

      None of them signed Max deals. They all had to take under the max or it wouldn't have worked. In fact I remember a lot of talk centering around what the contracts would end up looking like, as there was VERY little space left to fill out the rest of the roster. And absolutely no one who knows anything calls that era of the Heat anything close to a failure.

If only kd was a bad attitude player and boogie not injured, boogie would have gotten a worse reception, since kd was touted a nice guy before bolting okc, which no one saw coming most were surprised by his decision to jump ship to another contender that beat him to get in the finals. Boogie meanwhile we all knew is still a nutcase despite his talents but got more sympathy because of the injury and some other lowball 2 yr offer, that makes sense but he said screw it.

    I have a theory that LeBron James and the Cavaliers had an agreement that LeBron would leave to the Heat agreeing to return in a couple years so the Cavaliers could tank and get good lottery picks (example Kylie Irving and Andrew Wiggins which they used to get Kevin Love) so when LeBron returned he would have the team around him to win a championship that they couldn’t build through free agency and it worked. Very Smart move if true.

      Lottery is rigged. You don’t win that many times a first pick even with the tanking. Heat tanked 15 win season and got the second pick?? -So Rose could go to Chicago. Just like LeBron went to Cavs. Just like Ewing went to Knicks. There could’ve been an agreement. The NBA chose LeBron, all eggs one basket, they willed him to Cavs and wanted him to win a chip there, sad part is that even after all that, they still had to rig the Finals to get LeBron to beat golden state and make good on that bs storyline.

  • @broadstreet21
    @broadstreet21 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    LeBron really had a lot of great options on the table. Had he stayed in Cleveland, they may have found him a second co-star, like maybe Chris Bosh, plus coach Byron Scott running the show. Los Angeles and Chicago had great young players of their own. New York and New Jersey had the cap space. But Miami ultimately won out based on the most important thing - leadership. Specifically, leadership from the top. Arison and Riley were committed to treating their whole team well and supporting everyone.
    Contrast that to owners like crazy Dolan in New York, nutty racist Sterling in Los Angeles, scathing Gilbert in Cleveland, or the ambitious but clueless Prohorkov in New Jersey. Reinsdorf at least won six championships in Chicago, but he's had trouble finding competent management since Krause left.
    They also explained how Florida had no state income tax - meaning LeBron would save money and come ahead further than if he took Cleveland's max. But it was all underscored by Riley's seven championship rings - he showed them that they were all about winning.
    Sure, other teams had the talent - some perhaps even more than Miami. But none had the leadership to back it all up. That's the difference.

That 2016 ring was one of the best moments I’ve ever experienced, I would like Lebron to come back for one more run with our young squad now and possibly get one or two more. Ricardashian tv yea Carmelo wanted the money more so, that’s all he cared about 8 years later, he opts in to 27 million which he’s not worth that anymore while he could have taken a pay cut to allow the thunder flexibility, that’s melo for you,

    • @boozbottle
      @boozbottle 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      yeah it was originally melo but he wanted to sign a 5 year instead. Wade and Lebron wanted both to sign with the bulls because of the young core and wade is from chicago but when bosh signed in Miami it made sense for the 3 of them to team up instead.

    I remember this summer vividly, I was 16. LeBron's free agency was all anyone was talking about. It was such a bitter end to the east semi's against the Celtics. When he tore his jersey off you could just tell he was done with the Cavs. I remember the coverage of the fans in Cleveland burning his jersey and cursing his name. For all of the hysteria surrounding this man, he did go to four straight Finals with the Heat and won two rings with them. I wasn't a Cavs fan so I didn't understand the rage, and I wasn't a Heat fan either, but I enjoyed his run in Miami. It was a fun time in the NBA.

    It would be interesting to see a rewind on Barry Bonds being given an intentional walk with the bases loaded in the 1998 season. The game itself was in the middle of the regular season and not particularly important, but the backstory is really interesting, and the fact that it worked.

    A story you guys should look into... Anthony Carter's agent forgetting to submit his clients papers to exercise his player option after the 2002-03 season. That single action had a domino effect that changed the history of the Lakers, Clippers, the Heat, and the NBA as a whole. The effect of that one mistake let the Heat sign Elton Brand (clippers matched) which led to Lamar Odom, which lead to Shaq, which lead to a Heat title, which lead to a Heat rebuild that spawned the Labron / Bosh / Wade era. Fascinating story if you do a deep dive on it. One mistake by a dumb agent lead to 3 NBA titles and a 4 year dynasty.
