My eyes were done 10 days ago. I wish I had viewed this video before the surgery. It would’ve prepared me for the outcome.!! Thank you for sharing this as it will help many people get through the panic stage. Excellent content.
Thank you for the comment. I’m hopeful that your recovery was followed by a wonderful outcome! As you know, this is a wonderful procedure that helps people look more “refreshed.”
This has been so great to watch! I bet it will be easier to calm the patients now because you underwent the surgery yourself. I am 7 days post-op, and i am panicking that it's still swollen, and i can't close one eyelid, but after watching this, i have a better understanding of how long it can actually take. Thank you for sharing this journey! 😊
Thank you for your comments. Yes! Indeed, this experience has been an “eye opener” (no pun intended) for me. Last October, I learned a great deal from the recovery process after having the DOT laser treatment around my eyes. Undergoing this surgical treatment has really helped me better understand the emotional and psychological journey involved in the preparation and postoperative recovery process. While I've heard many patients share their experiences, actually being the patient is certainly very different. It’s an absolutely terrific procedure, and I've recommended blepharoplasty to many people over the past 25 years. I now spend a little more time with patients sharing my own story and discussing the minor complications I experienced. Between the DOT laser and the upper eyelid surgery, I feel better, more confident, and no longer look so tired. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I will have more updates to post in the upcoming weeks.
I’m to have surgery next Wednesday in Birmingham Alabama. This has helped me so much! I had thought about canceling it but seeing your video has gave me the push to continue on. Thank you and God Bless❤️
I’m getting mine done on Friday. I took 2 weeks off of work. I believe you didn’t take the time off needed especially going out to eat that same night. That’s probably why yours took much longer than others I have viewed. I will definitely rest up and follow the orders.
So true! Just walking and especially riding in a car promotes so much jarring movement, that I'm not surprised there was dehiscence... You are smart to lay low for 2 weeks, Looking back, I realize that I should have taken the time to adequately heal, both physically and from the anxiety of having surgery.❤
This is genius, thanks doctor! Yes I'm enjoying upper bleph for cosmetics but really the skin was weighing my kid and now feels easier to look or squint. This video makes me feel so much better, bum 56, this dismistifies and helps see that it's not all time or totally vane!
One of the best things toupee probably ever had done?! These are wonderful procedures that really make. Avery positive impact as you are experiencing. Congratulations on making the decision!
Yes. I always say “every day, every week, every month” things continue to improve. It could easily be another 3 months. Hang in there. It does continue to improve!
I’m 8 weeks out from this procedure and extremely pleased. Surprised that you didn’t used ice packs constantly for 2 days. Then warm compresses. Or maybe you did?
I did use ice packs for several hours immediately following the procedure. I should have done this all night long... but I didnt follow that direction. I did from time to time use ice because it felt good during the first week. But for the most part, I got right back to work so I wasn't able to do this as much as I could have. Your plan with ice and warm later in the week is a great one! Thank you for your comments and suggestions!
I’m thinking of doing the surgery but my concern is that I have severe allergies where my eyes itch and get dry constantly. What is your recommendation? To do it or not with these conditions?
Have you had issues with sensitive eyes? Sometimes there can be a little irritation or reaction from a suture or from the ointment. If this occurs then we may use a light steroid and change the topical ointment we use. I have not seen persistent issues that have resulted in long term issues however. If you do hav this sensitivity then I would simply make your Doctor aware and perhaps modify the anti-inflammaoties that you use. That being said - I think it's safe to have this performed. Thank you!
I’m at day 5. My doc used absorbable stitches. He didn’t say how long they’ll last.?? My re check isn’t for 3 weeks. I also have a bump on the inner corner 😩 .
The absorbable suture do vary in duration. More commonly they end up falling out by themselves within 2 weeks. With regards to the bump -this can occur and typically will resolve spontaneously. Sometimes a small cysts called a milia can form because skin cells get trapped under the skin. If this doesn't go away by itself, then a small needle can be used to extract it very easily. In the meantime, I hope that you are seeing the results that you hoped for!
Good afternoon. I’m not sure where you are traveling from, but we are located at : Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center 3805 Edwards Road Cincinnati, OH 45209 We are always happy to schedule a complimentary consultation via zoom if that is easier for you to meet our team. Thank you!
It is true that Upper eyelid surgery alone will not address “crows feet.” The upper eyelid surgery addresses the redundant eyelid skin as well as fat in the upper eyelid region. Using treatments such as laser resurfacing along with Botox works very well for our crows feet. I personally had undergone the Fractionated C02 laser procedure last October which helped smooth the texture, discoloration and wrinkles in my lower eyelid region. Thank you for your question!
Are you sleeping on your left side? Looks like you may be bunching up your face when sleeping. Sleep on back with head elevated. Apply Retin A, any strength tolerated to incision lines, along with vit C serum. Top off with a mineral based sunscreen to protect and hydrate.❤
Thank you for you advice :) I think taking a couple days would have been a better choice! I felt well and it didn't impact my day-to-day activities, however, it likely created more swelling!

Thank you! Yes ... it'll continue to improve even more over the next 4-5 months. Glad you are doing well and enjoying the benefits!
@@drjonmendelsohn that is wild that it will continue to progress that many months later.

I agree that rest and taking it easy is a good idea. My recovery definitely took longer than usual… but the results have turned out well!

Dr Jon, your video was informative and reassuring. My bleph is next week. Thank you...
Thank you ! Wonderful procedure!
I had blepharoplasty about two weeks ago, and it still looks really bad. You look better than I do.
It will continue to improve... every day, every week, every month I always say! Hang in there! Results will be well worth it!

I have been told by a doctor that upper eye lid surgery does not improve crows feet ?
It is true that Upper eyelid surgery alone will not address “crows feet.” The upper eyelid surgery addresses the redundant eyelid skin as well as fat in the upper eyelid region. What laser treatment you had to the lower eyelid? It looks really good and healthy. Tks in advance.
Are you sleeping on your left side? Looks like you may be bunching up your face when sleeping. Sleep on back with head elevated.
Apply Retin A, any strength tolerated to incision lines, along with vit C serum. Top off with a mineral based sunscreen to protect and hydrate.❤
Aren’t you not supposed to use your eyes too intensely after this surgery? Maybe you should’ve taken a week off 😮
Thank you for you advice :)
