This protest does indeed send a message! This is a black mark on the MLB.. the A's have never lacked fan support, it's the Fisher run product that created this and moving the team to Vegas won't change how Fisher has run this team and there's no fan support in Vegas. MLB is allowing the death of a fanbase to protect one of their own, while the game itself, continues to lose fans.....

I’m a fan in Vegas (in general and highest priority of MLB-overall (no team specifically) and international growth of baseball, due to how that all is best for THE GAME, and then due to my history I’m a fan of 1. Mariners, 2. Dodgers, 3. A’s-and looking very much forward to bumping the A’s to #1 (and M’s way down) if the move goes through due to how (long story) that would be full-circle for me like the Raiders’ move here was). So where do I stand? 1. Vegas will be good for THE GAME no matter what. 2. If it’s the A’s, well that sucks for OAK, but as millions of non-Californians will also tell you, CA and OAK in particular has your blames and priorities all wrong for the myriad of things that ail you, and you just aren’t getting things done there, and (blame Fisher, whatever Commish, blah blah blah all you want) this is just one more sign of that (if it wasn’t, then, at the very least, you wouldn’t have lost the Dubs to The City, for goodness sake), so the A’s need a solution and most non-Californians will tell you that it it doesn’t lie there the way things are (for the same reasons alluded to already), so many like myself pledge to be good stewards of the A’s, even though (especially because many of us are also suspect of Fisher) it will take time for the A’s fanbase to grow here, with winning being the crux of that. And, 3. BUTT OUT OF VEGAS’ BUSINESS, STARTING WITH THE “SCHOOLS OVER STADIUMS” MATTER!!! I don’t care how much you want to keep your team (and that’s not what any non-Californian questions, for your support besides all the nonsense going on for decades now regarding making an appropriate facility and keeping the team there you’ve dealt with (and this is what the mayor of Las Vegas PROPER (which is only a third of the valley land area and population and not even over the area where any of the potential ballpark sites are) meant when she thinks it would be best if a solution could be found there)), but supporting that organization is going way too far, and SHAME ON YOU! That is for Nevadans to decide and support or not in the meantime as WE see fit!!!

It's too bad about the A's, but MLB is a business, not a government program. The word community is used by progressives to imply that the Oakland A's play for the various parts of Oakland, like the Oakland neighborhoods are serfs and city government are like the vassals. Baseball is an entertainment business and the fans are the consumers of that business. The team needs a stadium that is up to date to play in . Oakland should have given the A's the land at Howard Terminal at to build a stadium. There should be no strings towards favoring blacks or minority businesses. Oakland is stupid if they let the A's play somewhere else for 2025-2027. Fans should take their energy and demand the city work day and night to keep baseball in Oakland, whether through an expansion team or the A's.

Where was all of this 3 years ago. It is way too late. What happens when you think the A's arent going anywhere. Because of all the inaction by Oakland government, the A's are leaving. As for Schools Over Stadiums, that lawsuit is going nowhere. First time they filed, they got rejected. They file again under the same argument as the last time, will get rejected again. The total public contribution is $120 million, which will be covered by a construction bond issued by Clark County and payable over 30 years. And there is no new tax or increased existing tax on Nevada citizens. SOS has no basis for their lawsuit and will get laughed at again.

      1) The total public contribution is $345+ million; nearly $200 million in state tax credits which is what SOS is challenging.
      2) The 1st lawsuit SOS dealt with was brought by the A's over the petition SOS filed; the Court ruled that SOS has to write out the full text on the petition when they collect signatures, not just what they disagree with.
      3) SOS has a challenge in the courts because the $380 million bill that was passed was passed with a mechanism that should've required more than a simple majority.
They've got some ground; they also shouldn't be actively soliciting CA voters to help fund the NV legislation.

So two things about this. 53 years in Philadelphia (formative years of baseball where many teams moved including the giants, dodgers), and only 13 years in Kansas City. The A’s have been in Oakland for 57 years, the longest tenure and during the most stable era of baseball. People would be outraged if the giants or dodgers moved and used that same excuse. Secondly, Oakland is fighting for its life here. If the A’s leave we won’t get a team like Philadelphia or Kansas City, baseball will simply leave.
