Kalia and Makani were hit especially hard by Amaya's death. Kalia isolated herself and would only let Makani approach her. According to a staff member, Kalia was vocalizing "mournfully" following her daughter's death. Eventually, Kalia let Shouka be with her. The day after that Ulises, Nakai, and Orkid joined her as well. SeaWorld officially reported Amaya's death to NOAA, and said that Amaya died from a gastro-intestinal disease. At least that's what I read on forums.
it is, you just have to be there at the right time, its nice when they interact on their own, sometimes the trainers are down there to lure them and have them interact with the public, so cute.
Amaya is cute and smart but it's clear that as an Orca that has been bred solely from captive Orca's that she recognizes that the humans are a part of her pod much more so than the other Orca's like Malia.
amazing creatures we got in this world. ❤🌍. they are dangerous animals don't forget but cool to watch. great video nice how they interact and play with the kids. still don't like that they are stuck in a tank but we wouldn't seen this and be able to learn and teach.
How much you want to bet that these kids will want to work with orcas one day? That's what's so great about SW, they inspire kids to want to help an conserve a beautiful species.
Some belugas do this, too, when they see a kid or an object that catches their attention among a crowd of people, and no one else can get their attention. There’s a video from the Georgia Aquarium, I believe, where a dozen kids and parents are watching a beluga, but the beluga is only watching a kid with red, curly hair. Whether it was the hair or what, but it followed that kid through the crowd.
Amaya was born in Captivity. and Amaya's mother, Kalia - the other orca you see in this video - was ALSO born in captivity. putting them in the wild would make as much sense a putting someone from New York into the Amazon Rain forest .

Amaya was sooo smart she learnt quickly the head bobbing makes the kids scream 😹😹.
We lost her too soon 💔💔

She will definitely be part of our hearts forever.... even though she only lived 6 years and a few months.... she will be missed.
