The fusion floating into the OG reminds me of Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem shitting out the "Can't be special summoned" monster that is now constantly sp. Summoned.
Ended up picking up the magnetic display, using it to frame my copy of Magi Magi Magician. Still irritated that card didn't come over here, it's a badass looking take on Dark Magician Girl and it's kinda glaring nowadays that some of Takahashi's art is missing from the TCG, I would REALLY like them to bring all those over in a promotion.
I was hoping the fusions would have the attack as the atk of one of their components, and their defense as the atk of the other component. This might have been too confusing a reference tho
Gate Guardians ATK and DEF is the ATK and DEF of all 3 of its parts /2 so it only makes sense that the little Fusions ATK and DEF are the sum of their materials ATK and DEF /2. But it would have been nice if they added at least 300-500 ATK + DEF to everyone of these to show that these are stronger than the base forms.
That walking dead joke was good because of how specific it was. Like someone would have to watch like 7 or more seasons to even get the joke. Hilarious.
I mean, Riryoku Guardian _is_ a gimmicky OTK already. It gives your monster the same atk as your opponent's LP. At that point it'll one-shot your opponent through pretty much anything.
I just ironically watched the episode in GX where Jaden has to defeat the Gate Guardian with Cyrus and all I could think is how is he this bad... I want a remastered version with this gate guardian whooping his ass now.
I feel like the deck wants to bring out as many fusions as it can turn one to floodgate, survive until turn 3, then punch virtually anything for game. Like, if you can get most of the cards on the field, your oppenent can't summon anything less than 1600 attack (difficult to go into your combo plays), can't swing into you without a level 5, can't target your monsters, and can't use most spells or traps to find an out. If they don't get through those floodgates on their first turn, gate guardian could punch literally anything in attack position for like 7k against 4k life, if you reduce their attack to zero.
The ideal field consists of 3 fusions with the Field Spell, Quickplay and maybe another Quickplay, Trap or Shadow Ghoul in GY if you drew into them. And because they all float there is a really high chance you survive. Especially because the original pieces' effects also help you with that. And if they don't clear your fusion that searches or you floated back into the necessary pieces you could simply add that spell to punch for game.
What a timeline to be in. Paradox Bros get a Gate Guardian retrain in 2023 that looks pretty cohesive and thematic. You can opt out of og Gate Guardian since the float effect lets you summon from ED as well so you can use the 3 mini Guardians. Can't wait for the eventual Tomato archetype retrain from the Zexal anime in 2033.
Yes this archetype is far from viable in today's game. With so many people interested in and are currently playing legacy formats I wonder how far back in legacy formats would this be a competitive deck?

It doesn't even need to float into the OG. For some reason, it can also float into another copy of itself, or any of the smaller fusions too
