- Duncan Laurence will represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2019 with "Arcade". We met him at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum for a little chat where he told us about the process of being selected to represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2019, the meaning of his song and his music video and his special connection with Ilse DeLange (that represented The Netherlands at Eurovision 2014 with Waylon as The Common Linnets).

The same guy who did the staging for The Common Linnets back in 2014 will do the staging for Duncan, I think it'll be alright :)
@@gkguido055 yeah but isn't that also the same guy who did waylon staging. So it can go 50/50.
@@mysteriousbluehat2035 waylon just wanted to do the staging his way, even though he had a good team. I think Duncan is more open for staging advice from Hans Pannecoucke.
Ang y his staging was fine, the dancers weren't. Waylon himself was adamant about the dancers. Everyone else disagreed.
Ilse DeLange, who is also in the creative team for the staging said it is gonna be beautiful
If we don't win this year we can wait another 44 years :p
Lmfao, I really didn't expect our country to become a fan favourite... we may actually win this-- but I dunno what to think after Jesc 2018 ( The Netherlands was pretty loved, but they came pretty low in the finals... ) So I hope that doesn't happen.

remember when they announced that The Netherlands picked him to represent the country (without knowing the song) people were like "who is he? i don't know him, why Netherlands pick him? he's an unknown musician.."

His English is great! Even some native speakers can't tell when to use 'whom' or 'that'.
"That" wasn't wrong in this case, though.
"Whom" is for people only, but "that" can be used for objects AND people.
He comes across so well. I am happy that they are thinking seriously about staging. This song really deserves the best treatment as it’s an amazing song. I personally love many of this years songs but this is a standout for me. I hope he wins.
Definitely my winner. I can't wait to see it on stage. It's such a great song, it's so emotional and so relatable. I am sure it will be amazing, after hearing him in live sessions I can only say: see you all in the NL next year!

I really love his humility, humour, and his thought on taking time to listen to the other countries' entries (I felt a bit ashamed on rushing each entry but it's true), very considerate of him :)
As for Arcade, it's an amazing song and definitely a winning entry! It is my 4th, but everyone in my Top 5 deserve to win honestly

By FAR my favourite song this year. The first time I heard this song I got goosebumps all over my body and started crying when I heard the chorus because his song sounds so angelic. This year's competition is actually really weak in my opinion so it should be kinda easy to come far with this meaningful song for Duncan who has outstanding vocals. Good luck to him!
